ISO 9001 (2000 and 2008), Quality management systems – Requirements are globally most used standards. The total number of issued certificates tends to increase year by year, according to the annual surveys of International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The situation in Latvia is similar – the total number of the standard user organizations grows every year only in much smaller amounts. However, the information on issued certificates is insufficient for realizing an in-depth analysis of standard user organizations. This study is important for providing detailed information on enterprises according to their size class and for information on the proportion of certified enterprises to overall number of enterprises to observe the most active scale group of business for ISO 9001 certification. The expected outcome of the research – the number of certified enterprises and their distribution by size class (micro, small, medium- sized and large scale enterprises) in Latvia.

In recent years, the security and defense sector of Ukraine has been undergoing reforms aimed at gaining the country's membership in the NATO North Atlantic Treaty Organization. One of the many aspects of these reforms is the introduction of some specific standards, in particular, the AQAP 2000 series standards in the quality management systems of military equipment enterprises. In the case of implementation of several international standards at the enterprise, there is a need to create integrated quality management systems. The article presents options for implementing two or more standards in the QMS of the enterprise, analyzes their disadvantages and advantages. The main requirements of the AQAP 2110 standard, which should be integrated with the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard in the context of the PDCA cycle ("Plan-Do-Check-Act"), are considered. The stages of the implementation of integrated QMS are described. The scheme of deliveries of products to the customer in which there is a certification of the quality management system of the manufacturer (supplier) by the external body on conformity assessment, control over the quality of production by military representation, and the government quality assurance GQA has resulted. Government quality assurance GQA means that the authorized national body carries out the process of assessing the conformity of the quality management system of the manufacturer (supplier) to the requirements of ISO 9001 and NATO standards AQAP 2000, which allows the customer to gain confidence in the quality of defense products. A special requirement is to draw up a Quality Plan, which defines the activities, processes, resources, responsibilities of the manufacturer, etc., to convince the customer and the GQA representative that the company can manufacture and supply products of appropriate quality and on time, because in case of defective products or failure to deliver is lost time for a replacement or waiting, and this is a constant risk to the country's combat readiness. Requirements for the content and design of the Quality Plan are given in the standard AQAP 2105. In addition to the above, the following specific requirements of AQAP 2110 are analyzed as the operation of the metrological support system at the enterprise according to DSTU ISO 10012, product configuration management with software according to ACMP 2100, risk management, etc.

The International Organization for Standardization issued the new ISO 9001:2008 standard with title Quality Management systems. Requirements at 15 Nov 2008. In spite of arrangements lasting more years the requirements of the standard basically have not changed. The main goal of changes was in one hand the more understandable and clearer text, on the other the increasing compatibility with the standard ISO 14001. This paper gives an explanation of changes in requirements ISO 9001:2008. These changes have been taken into consideration by the users if they want to suit the expectations of the new document.

This article examines international studies on the standardization of quality management systems in higher education, namely: a comparison of The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards and the provisions of the Standards and Recommendations for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (The Standards) and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). The standards ISO 9001, ISO 9001: 2000, ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 21001 have been analyzed.The article analyzes the study of the interaction of ISO standards and the provisions of ESG investigated that presented in the works of S.Ortega, N.Señal, L.Velón Sixto "Experiments using iso 9001 to meet ESG in three spanish agencies"; A.Jambor, M.Dzubakova, J.Habanbk «Integration of ESG 2015 and ISO 9001: 2015 standards in higher education organization (case study)»; F.Camilleri «Standardizing Management Systems for Educational Organizations: Implications for European Higher Education». The study concludes that ISO 9001 standards for quality management systems enable institutions to create a quality assurance system and improve basic quality assurance processes. The ISO 9001 quality management system standard is a good tool for organizations to improve their internal quality assurance system and to be aware of their processes. Scientists say ISO 9001 provides ESG standards with an adequate system to support effective quality improvement. It is positive that the international ISO standard and ESG provisions for the establishment of a quality assurance system in higher education are in the mix. The ISO 21001 series "Educational Organizations –Management Systems for Educational Organizations" provides a methodological component and a typical industry template from the beginning of monitoring to the release of results, including preparatory work on assessment planning, questionnaire development, questionnaires, results processing, problem determination and options, further monitoring of performance. In higher education, ISO 21001 may not be seen as a competitor or replacement for ESG, but as an additional tool that can help educational organizations demonstrate their commitment to effective educational management practices.
