This paper reports on the application of electric automated vehicles in the city of Appelscha, The Netherlands. Appelscha is challenged with a predicted decline of inhabitants and an already shrinking public transport network. To preserve the region’s accessibility, the municipality started a pilot with electric automated vehicles. These vehicles drove on a separate cycle lane for six weeks in 2016. This pilot has shown that a pilot is possible, with little infrastructural changes. Even though the maximum speed of 15 km/h might suggest that automated vehicles are suitable to share the road with cyclists, the cycle lane in Appelscha was not sufficient due to the width of the cycle lane. No accidents occurred during the pilot.

Transport strategies in Dublin before 1990 were primarily road based with particular emphasis on increasing road space within the city for the car. In the early 1990s, however, the Dublin Transportation Initiative recommended a more innovative strategy, the core of which centered on public transport. Implementation of the strategy is currently under way, but increased economic activity, with associated increases in car ownership and usage, has undermined the potential to address the imbalance between transport demand and supply, particularly in the shorter term. As a result, feasible and reliable public transport alternatives do not currently exist for car users on some radial corridors. The ongoing implementation of bus lanes and an increase in the number of buses should go some way in improving the reliability of the service. It is against this background that road use pricing is considered. The potential user response to road user charging is examined by means of a pilot action project to investigate whether further evaluation of the measure would be justified on a larger sample. The distance-and-time-based time-differentiated pricing method used in the pilot action induced a significant decrease of 22 percent in car trips and a 23 percent reduction in distance traveled during the peak period, reflecting the relatively high road use charges applied in that period. The total distance traveled decreased by 13 percent. The road user charge reflects the marginal external costs of car travel in the peak period in Dublin.

The article examines the prerequisites for creating a transport hub in an urban environment, ways to simplify navigation and increase passenger comfort by design methods. The classification of transport hubs is given, the features of their formation based on environmental conditions are highlighted, the requirements for transport hub are formulated. Thus, the development of the system of transport hubs leads to a decrease in comfort when using public transport and stimulates the rejection of personal transport, which in turn leads to a decrease in the load on the road transport network and reduced air pollution.

The transport network of cities can be represented as a complex of streets and passages, as well as elements of public transport infrastructure unconnected with the street and road network. It is reasonable to represent the real network in the form of a simplified network based on graph theory to analyze the properties of the transport network. There are various methods of network connectivity assessment, including those based on various indices. According to all indicators in the street and road network of the city of Petrozavodsk it is necessary to increase the number of units. The implementation of recommendations for changes of the street and road network of the city of Petrozavodsk will reduce traffic congestion, the number of accidents and transport expenses. It is recommended to use the proposed method to assess and improve the street and road network of cities.

Adi Sutjipto International Airport is the airport currently operated in Special Region of Yogyakarta (SRY), located near the city centre area. SRY needs to construct a new airport due to the increase in air passengers. The proposed airport, named New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) is located in the undeveloped area, away from the city centre. This study is aimed to investigate the impact of airport relocation to the road network and to assess several developments of transportation infrastructures to the new airport.  The analysis was conducted by developing a transport network model using PTV Visum. The secondary data collected from the local government to develop the transport network model, including the development of origin-destination matrices and forecasting purpose.  The scenarios of road infrastructures development and new rail service to the airport in 2025 are then modelled. The results showed that the road infrastructure developed can reduce the number of congested main roads from 9.47% into 5.94%. Rail service to the airport is effective to decrease the traffic congestion at two NYIA roads access and able to increase their average speed from 49.45 and 44.29 km/h into 66.45 and 62.66 km/h.

The road that is located in the City of Satui is a road that connects cities that are large in the South Kalimantan, the road is often used by mining trucks. From these conditions, there will be a high movement of people, goods, and services. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a review to determine the performance of the road.The location in this study is on A.Yani Street, City of Satui, South Kalimantan. On this road, there is a part of the road that has a median and does not have a median. Data collected from the results of traffic surveys are primary data which includes geometric data, traffic volume data, and traffic speed data. Secondary data which includes an overview of the study area. The data obtained are then grouped according to the composition of the vehicle. Then the data is made into hourly traffic data to get volume, speed, and density. The data obtained was analyzed to obtain capacity, the appropriate relationship model, and performance changes between roads.The results of data analysis on A.Yani Street, City of Satui are the maximum volumes obtained on the road with a median of 468,75 amp/hour while those on the road without the median are 421,51 amp/hour. The maximum density obtained on the road with a median of 133,67 SMP/km while on the road without a median of 55,86 SMP/km. The maximum speed obtained on the road without the median is 129,2 km/hour while the road with the median maximum speed is 60,87 km/hour. The corresponding equation for A.Yani Street, the City of Satui on the road with the median is the Underwood model, y =   61,161e-0,048x with the R-value of 0,90675 while the road without the median is the Greenberg model, y = -20,41ln(x) + 82,208 with an R-value of 0,90161.

Abstract Public transit in the city of Al-Kut faces great challenges due to the weakness of the local government abilities in providing adequate conditions for public transport such as wide vehicles, comfortable seats, and other environmentally friendly means of transport that are almost non-use in the city of Kut, where the dependence is heavily on Mini Bus (Kia) and a medium-sized bus, most of which are old, do not operate in an integrated way, compete with each other for the passengers, reduce the flexibility of movement. This study attempts to estimate the demand for the proposed bus rapid route in the city of al Kut as a modern public transport that can contribute to reducing congestion in the city. In this study, the demand for the current public transport network lines in the city was studied, which are 12 lines using boarding / alighting values to determine passenger loads and assess flow on each route in the transportation network using the origin-destination (OD) data from on/off data, then repeat the application on the BRT route, this was done using assignment model in TransCAD software, where the results showed an estimated value for passenger demand on BRT route about 7,616 passengers/hour, which is equivalent to 40.12 % of the transport lines service.

The article analyzes problems and proposes the following solution - planning system development of loading parking spaces in the city. This system will reduce the burden on the road network of the city and helps drivers to optimize the process of finding available parking spaces.

The article analyzes congestion of the urban transport network in Kyiv and its impact on air pollution in the city and suggests ways to solve problems that occur because of it. The object of the study is public transport, specifically electric buses. The purpose of the work is to propose an innovative approach to the use of electric buses using analysis of air pollution indicators, the traffic index of urban congestion and the non-stationarity of the passenger flow. Research methods are generally scientific. The city of Kyiv ranks number 7 in the world in terms of traffic congestion and the amount of added time that people spend due to congestion. The transport network overload leads not only to congestion, but also to air pollution in the city. The authors of the article analyze the air pollution and the state of congestion on the roads of Kyiv. In order to improve the current situation in the city, the concept of modular use of electric buses is proposed, which envisions production of electric trucks and electric trailers for passenger transportation (modules) to it. The use of electric buses reduces environmental pollution, but does not solve the problem of congestion in megapolises. The solution to the problem must use comprehensive approach. The authors came to conclusion that it is not possible to significantly influence the non-stationary flow of passengers, but it is possible to release a fleet with different passenger capacity at different times of the day. During rush hours the proposal is to limit the total number of cars and release an electric bus with the module of the largest capacity, in the late evening and at night release fleet with modules designed for a small number of passengers, in other hours release electric buses with a medium capacity module. The modular principle of formation of electric bus routes will optimize the general expenses for transportation and will take into consideration seasonal, weekly and daily non-stationary flow of passengers. Development of this modular electric vehicles will be the task for automotive industry. Currently, the city is actively developing and expanding, but with this comes the problems associated with the transport network. The number of vehicles is growing, and sometimes there is no way to expand the roads. This means that it is necessary to establish a public transport movement for the convenience of residents, so that it is more convenient to travel around the city, unlike personal transport.
