Here this document provides the data about the batteries of electric vehicles. It consists of numerous data about various energy storage methods in EVs and how it is different from energy storage of IC-engine vehicles. How electric vehicles will take over ICEngine vehicles due to advancement in battery technology and the shrink in its prices. Various types of batteries are listed in the document with their specifications. Possible future battery technology which will have more or same energy density than current gasoline fuels and also with the significant reduction in battery weights; which will make EVs cheaper than current condition. Some examples are listed showing current battery capacities of various EVs models. Some battery parameters are shown in the document with introduction to BMS (Battery Management System). Then a brief introduction about the charging of these EV batteries and its types displaying variations in charging time in different types of EVs according to their charger type and manufacturers. How DC charging is more time saving method than AC and how smart charging will help to grid in case of peak or grid failure conditions.

This paper presents an innovative approach to the design of a forthcoming, fully electric-powered cargo vessel. This work begins by defining problems that need to be solved when designing vessels of this kind. Using available literature and market research, a solution for the design of a power management system and a battery management system for a cargo vessel of up to 1504 TEU capacity was developed. The proposed solution contains an innovative approach with three parallel energy sources. The solution takes into consideration the possible necessity for zero-emission work with the optional function of operation as an autonomous vessel. Energy storage system based on lithium-ion battery banks with a possibility of expanding the capacity is also described in this work as it is the core part of the proposed solution. It is estimated that the operation range for zero-emission work mode of up to 136 nautical miles can be achieved through the application of all fore-mentioned parts.

Aging increases the internal resistance of a battery and reduces its capacity; therefore, energy storage systems (ESSs) require a battery management system (BMS) algorithm that can manage the state of the battery. This paper proposes a battery efficiency calculation formula to manage the battery state. The proposed battery efficiency calculation formula uses the charging time, charging current, and battery capacity. An algorithm that can accurately determine the battery state is proposed by applying the proposed state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) calculations. To reduce the initial error of the Coulomb counting method (CCM), the SoC can be calculated accurately by applying the battery efficiency to the open circuit voltage (OCV). During the charging and discharging process, the internal resistance of a battery increase and the constant current (CC) charging time decrease. The SoH can be predicted from the CC charging time of the battery and the battery efficiency, as proposed in this paper. Furthermore, a safe system is implemented during charging and discharging by applying a fault diagnosis algorithm to reduce the battery efficiency. The validity of the proposed BMS algorithm is demonstrated by applying it in a 3-kW ESS.
