Mapping groundwater recharge zones (GWRZs) is essential for planning artificial recharge programs to mitigate groundwater decline and saltwater intrusion into coastal aquifers. We applied two multi-criteria decision-making approaches, namely the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and the multi-influencing factors (MIF), to map GWRZs in the Korba aquifer in northeastern Tunisia. GWRZ results from the AHP indicate that the majority (69%) of the area can be classified as very good and good for groundwater recharge. The MIF results suggest larger (80.7%) very good and good GWRZs. The GWRZ maps improve groundwater balance calculations by providing estimates of recharge-precipitation ratios to quantify percolation. Lithology, land use/cover and slope were the most sensitive parameters followed by geomorphology, lineament density, rainfall, drainage density and soil type. The AHP approach produced relatively more accurate results than the MIF technique based on correlation of the obtained GWRZs with groundwater well discharge data from 20 wells across the study area. The accuracy of the approaches ultimately depends on the classification criteria, mean rating score and weights assigned to the thematic layers. Nonetheless, the GWRZ maps suggest that there is ample opportunity to implement aquifer recharge programs to reduce groundwater stress in the Korba aquifer.

This study is aimed at assessing flood vulnerability of Ibaji LGA of Kogi state, Nigeria. The factors considered in this research include socioeconomic activities, rainfall characteristics, land-use pattern, drainage density, slope, soil, and elevation. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to establish the relationship between flood causative factors and their role in the occurrence as well as the vulnerability of communities within the study area. Each factor was assigned weight depending on the perceived role in the occurrence of flood within the study area. The factors considered in this research and their cumulative weights are rainfall (24.4%), Drainage Density (17.9%), Slope (18.5%), Elevation (17.4%), Land Use (11.8%) and soil (9.9%). The results of this study suggest that no single factor is responsible for the occurrence of flood in the study area, a combination of the factors assessed are responsible for the occurrence of flood. The degree of susceptibility of communities to flood in the study area varies among communities dependent on the factors that predominate within the community.

Internet banking is an online financial transaction approach that uses internet as the platform. Customers could perform their transactions anywhere and anytime. Current extensive researches from the literature have analyzed and investigated on various factors related to the internet banking adoption. Drawing from the various theories associated with acceptance model, this paper will combine these various predetermined factors into one model. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), method was adapted in identifying the relevant multiple factors for the model. AHP is the best technique to use for mathematical calculation, to allow decision makers to prioritize their ranking to fit and resolve multiple criteria. The purpose of these paper is to prioritize the influencing factors to use internet banking. Based on the literature review, three main factors namely technical information, website and service availability had been identified as the main construct of the model and the sub factors were communication, responsiveness, privacy, ease of use, security, reliability and efficiency had been proposed into one integrated framework. These factors were identified by using Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology. Hence, the paper will deepen the understanding of the specific factors underpinned in the study of internet bankingadoption.

Abstract. In recent decades, many of the countries around the world as well as the south-western Morocco (Guelmim region, Assaka watershed), was subject to flood-storm causing huge human and material damages. The current study focuses on the Prediction of flash flood susceptibility using Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) algorithms and Geographic Information System (GIS) technical. Flash floods areas were identified based on seven flash flood conditioning factors (Soil Moisture Index (SMI), Drainage Density, Rainfall, LULC, Altitude, Slope and Soil). Using AHP the weight derived for the factors were SMI 37% Rainfall 24.30%, Drainage Density 15.57%, LULC 9.98% Altitude 6.39% Slope of the river basin 4.06% and Soil type 2.70%. Then, applying a fuzzy inference system to create flash flood vulnerability maps. The resulting maps were classified into three categories: low, moderate and high flash flood susceptibility; indicated that the areas at the outlet of the watershed and which are close of the main affluent wadis (Seyyad and Oum Al-Achar) were very susceptible to flooding. This study will be helping these zones to be prioritized for the conservation and managing of flash floods.

In semi-arid regions, groundwater resources play a crucial role in all economic, environmental, and social processes. However, the occurrence, movement, and recharge of these hidden and valuable resources vary from place to place. Therefore, better management practices and mapping of groundwater recharge potential zones are needed for the sustainable groundwater resources. For an example, groundwater resources in Willochra Basin are vitally important for drinking, irrigation, and stock use. This study shows the significance of the application of three decision-making approaches, including multi-influencing factor, analytical hierarchy process, and frequency ratio techniques in the identification of groundwater potential zones. A total of seven criteria, including lithology, slope, soil texture, land-use, rainfall, drainage density, and lineament density, were extracted from conventional and remote sensing data sources. The parameters and their assigned weights were integrated using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to generate recharge potential maps. The resultant maps were evaluated using the area under the curve method. The results showed that the southern regions of the Willochra Basin are more promising for groundwater recharge potential. The map produced using the frequency ratio model was the most efficient (84%), followed by the multi-influencing factor model (70%) and then the analytical hierarchy process technique (62%). The area under the curve method agreed when evaluated using published weights and rating values.
