Understanding the flow of groundwater is very important, not only for water management but also for the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters. The electrical resistivity method has been established as an effective groundwater exploration method in geological surveys. The purpose of this study is to develop an accurate investigation method for groundwater flow using soil impedance fluctuations. As a preliminary experiment, the apparent soil impedance was measured by applying a low-frequency current through a soil column with water flow inside. The apparent impedance showed fluctuations due to water flow at frequencies above 20 Hz, and the fluctuation range increased with the flow rate of water. It has been proposed that groundwater flow can be detected by measuring impedance fluctuations, and it is considered that this method can be applied to groundwater surveys and embankment and reservoir leak surveys.

Abstract Development of the human civilization leads to the pollution of environment. One of the contamination which are a real threat to soil and groundwater are leachates from landfills. In this paper the solute transport through soil was considered. For this purpose, the laboratory column tests of chlorides tracer and leachates transport on two soil samples have been carried out. Furthermore, the electrical resistivity method was applied as auxiliary tool to follow the movements of solute through the soil column what allowed to compare between the results obtained with column test method and electrical resistivity measurements. Breakthrough curves obtained by conductivity and resistivity methods represents similar trends which leads to the conclusion about the suitability of electrical resistivity methods for contamination transport monitoring in soil-water systems.

In modern days for structures in coastal areas it has been observed that the premature structural failures are occurs due to corrosion of the reinforcements of the designed structural member. The corrosion causes the structural damage which in turn leads to reduction in the bearing capacity of the concerned structural members. The aim of this study was to study the effect of partial replacement of fly ash to minimize the corrosion effect. Beams were designed and corroded by using artificial method known accelerated corrosion method. The beams were then tested for flexural and bond strength. Also the weight loss of the reinforced bars was been determined using electrical resistivity method. The fly ash will replace by 10% and 15%.The strength will calculate at varying percentage of corrosion at 10% and 15%. Beams will cast at M25 grade concrete. The flexural strength will test by using UTM and the bond strength will calculate using pullout test.
