Within the family of Retroviridae, foamy viruses (FVs) are unique and unconventional with respect to many aspects in their molecular biology, including assembly and release of enveloped viral particles. Both components of the minimal assembly and release machinery, Gag and Env, display significant differences in their molecular structures and functions compared to the other retroviruses. This led to the placement of FVs into a separate subfamily, the Spumaretrovirinae. Here, we describe the molecular differences in FV Gag and Env, as well as Pol, which is translated as a separate protein and not in an orthoretroviral manner as a Gag-Pol fusion protein. This feature further complicates FV assembly since a specialized Pol encapsidation strategy via a tripartite Gag-genome–Pol complex is used. We try to relate the different features and specific interaction patterns of the FV Gag, Pol, and Env proteins in order to develop a comprehensive and dynamic picture of particle assembly and release, but also other features that are indirectly affected. Since FVs are at the root of the retrovirus tree, we aim at dissecting the unique/specialized features from those shared among the Spuma- and Orthoretrovirinae. Such analyses may shed light on the evolution and characteristics of virus envelopment since related viruses within the Ortervirales, for instance LTR retrotransposons, are characterized by different levels of envelopment, thus affecting the capacity for intercellular transmission.

The main purpose of this work is to check if the student motivation is an important factor in their perception of family involvement on homework. This is to check the relationships between different levels of intrinsic motivation towards school work of students in secondary and their perceptions of parental support and the type of feedback provided by their parents to homework, including the latter parental support and parental control. The sample consists of 730 (43.4% male; 56.6% female) of Secondary School students (12 to 16). The results show that higher levels of intrinsic motivation are associated with a higher perception of students regarding parental accompaniment to do homework and parental control and support them. We conclude, therefore, that student motivation is a factor of great importance to the involvement of the family environment and, more specifically, for the support and feedback provided by parents regarding homework.

Abstract The problem of drug addiction for individuals, especially young people, is one of the most dangerous pests that cause many problems in various health, social and psychological aspects facing every society, but rather the whole world. The phenomenon of drug addiction often leaves individuals with dangerous negative effects on their behavior, whether towards themselves or towards others, and this requires the relevant institutions to strive for important and constructive solutions to reform such individuals, and then rid them of their negative behaviors, rehabilitate them and integrate them into society, to become active and effective individuals through their adoption of positive behaviors that are acceptable in line with the values, customs and traditions of their societies to which they belong. Therefore, our current study came to shed light on the most important effects resulting from the phenomenon of drug addiction among individuals through achieving the two research objectives which seek to know: 1- Causes of addiction to drug use among individuals 2- The effect of drug abuse on society. Upon verifying the two research objectives by relying on the analytical method of literature and previous studies, the two researchers reached the following results: First - The most important causes of youth addiction to drugs are poverty, begging, loss of one or both parents, the presence of a criminal in his family, invalid education and other various phenomena and deviations. Second - The symptoms of drug addiction push the addicted person to adopt deviant behaviors, as well as afflicting the addicted individual to psychological and mental pressures, and then afflicting his family with chronic diseases, in addition to the family breakdown occurring in the homes of drug addicts. Key words: drugs; Drug effect; The individual and society.

Abstract Rhodium boryl complexes are valuable catalysts for hydro- or diboration reactions of alkenes, but can also react with ketones (R2C=O) and imines (R2C=NR′) giving rise to insertion products having formally Rh–R2C–O/NR′–B linkages. The resulting molecular structures, however, may show complex metal–ligand and ligand–ligand interaction patterns with often unclear metal–ligand connectivities (hapticities, ηn). In order to assign the correct hapticity in a set of asymmetric rhodium-allyl compounds with molecular structures indicating η1−5 bonding, a comprehensive DFT study was conducted. The study comprises determination of a variety of real-space bonding indicators derived from computed electron and pair densities according to the AIM, ELI-D, NCI, and DORI topological and surface approaches, which uncover the metal–ligand connectivties and suggest an asymmetric ligand–metal donation/metal–ligand back-donation framework according to the Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model.

Annexins are Ca2+and phospholipid binding proteins forming an evolutionary conserved multigene family with members of the family being expressed throughout animal and plant kingdoms. Structurally, annexins are characterized by a highly α-helical and tightly packed protein core domain considered to represent a Ca2+-regulated membrane binding module. Many of the annexin cores have been crystallized, and their molecular structures reveal interesting features that include the architecture of the annexin-type Ca2+binding sites and a central hydrophilic pore proposed to function as a Ca2+channel. In addition to the conserved core, all annexins contain a second principal domain. This domain, which NH2-terminally precedes the core, is unique for a given member of the family and most likely specifies individual annexin properties in vivo. Cellular and animal knock-out models as well as dominant-negative mutants have recently been established for a number of annexins, and the effects of such manipulations are strikingly different for different members of the family. At least for some annexins, it appears that they participate in the regulation of membrane organization and membrane traffic and the regulation of ion (Ca2+) currents across membranes or Ca2+concentrations within cells. Although annexins lack signal sequences for secretion, some members of the family have also been identified extracellularly where they can act as receptors for serum proteases on the endothelium as well as inhibitors of neutrophil migration and blood coagulation. Finally, deregulations in annexin expression and activity have been correlated with human diseases, e.g., in acute promyelocytic leukemia and the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, and the term annexinopathies has been coined.

The aim of this article is to furnish insights of the Italian public debate on the recognition of LGBTQ rights, which can be understood as an interesting case study of the complex relationship between (multi)secularisation processes and re/definition of citizenship models. More specifically, the article analyses two political events related to this debate that took place in Rome in June 2015. The first is the Family Day demonstration, promoted by conservative Catholic groups; the second is the LGBTQ Pride parade, promoted by various gay, lesbian and transsexual/gender associations. We analyse the official statements issued by the two organising committees of the demonstrations, adopting the framework and methods of the Critical Discourse Analysis. Above and beyond an evident political conflict between the two discourses, we try to shed light on their mutual construction on the basis of what we call ‘naturalization’ and ‘universalization’ processes.

Sementara itu, perbedaan pembatas ruang dan komponen ruang menunjukkan tingkat perekonomian yang berbeda Tanean Lanjhang is a form of  Madurese  traditional house  which have components  of Langghar (mosque), the main house followed by other homes that are generally rows from West to East, according to the order in the family, kitchen, stables, and Tanean (yard). This study discussed about the characteristics of space in a traditional house Tanean Lanjhang in the village of Bandang Laok, Kokop District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura, which focused on several groups of Tanean Lanjhang in Baktalbak village. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by analyzing space characteristics on each Tanean group. The results showed that the pattern  of Tanean Lanjhang with one main house was caused by the limitation of land to build a new residential house, so the new family must build another residential house with Lanjhang Tanean pattern also. In addition, there is a similarity of form of space with room sizes in vary according to the functionality and usability. While the difference  of  space  barrier  and  space  components  showed  the  different  levels of  the economy.

Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG) allows a large number of players to cooperate, compete and interact meaningfully in the online environment. Gamers are able to form social network with fellow gamers and create a unique virtual community. Although research has discussed the importance of social interaction in MMOG, it fails to articulate how social interaction takes place in the game. The current chapter aims to depict how gamers interact and socialize with each other in a popular MMOG, World of Warcraft. Through virtual ethnography, specific interaction patterns and communication behaviors within the community are discussed. It is concluded that the types of social interaction taken place in the gaming world is influenced by the temporal and spatial factors of the game as well as the game mechanisms.

AbstractIn this paper we introduce a nested family of spaces of continuous functions defined on the spectrum of a uniform algebra. The smallest space in the family is the uniform algebra itself. In the “finite dimensional” case, from some point on the spaces will be the space of all continuous complex-valued functions on the spectrum. These spaces are defined in terms of solutions to the nonlinear Cauchy–Riemann equations as introduced by the author in 1976, so they are not generally linear spaces of functions. However, these spaces do shed light on the higher dimensional properties of a uniform algebra. In particular, these spaces are directly related to the generalized Shilov boundary of the uniform algebra (as defined by the author and, independently, by Sibony in the early 1970s).
