The paper theoretically investigates the heat transfer of nanofluids with different nanoparticles inside a parallel-plate channel. Second-order slip condition is adopted due to the microscopic roughness in the microchannels. After proper transformation, nonlinear partial differential systems are converted to ordinary differential equations with unknown constants, and then solved by homotopy analysis method. The residual plot is drawn to verify the convergence of the solution. The semi-analytical expressions between NuB and NBT are acquired. The results show that both first-order slip parameter and second-order slip parameter have positive effects on NuB of the MHD flow. The effect of second-order velocity slip on NuB is obvious, and NuB in the alumina–water nanofluid is higher than that in the titania–water nanofluid. The positive correlation between slip parameters and Ndp is significant for the titania–water nanofluid.

This paper presents the study of unsteady nanofluids flow and heat transfer past a wedge with second order velocity slip and temperature jump. The model is modified by considering the existence of a nanolayer together with the effects of thermophoresis and Brownian motion. The fundamental equations were transformed into ordinary differential equations by a new set of similarity transformations and solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). We determined that the error reached 10-6 and the effectiveness of HAM was attained. The influence of second-order slip on the fluid skin-friction coefficient was analyzed and we determined that the Nusselt number decreases and skin friction coefficient rises with an increase in the thickness of the nanolayer.

AbstractIn this paper, boundary layer flow over a moving flat plate with second-order velocity slip, injection and applied magnetic field is analyzed. The governing partial differential equations are converted in to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation through an appropriate similarity transformation. The resulting nonlinear equation is solved via homotopy analysis method (HAM). Errors ranging from 10–7 to 10–10 are reported for a relatively few terms. The effects of the pertinent parameters on the velocity and the shear stress are presented graphically and discussed. In the absence of magnetic field and the two slip parameters, the results are found to be in excellent agreement with the available results in the literature. It is expected that the results obtained will not only provide useful information for industrial applications but also complement the earlier works.

This paper presents a theoretical analysis for the incompressible MHD stagnation-point flows of a Non-Newtonian Fluid over stretching sheets. The governing system of partial differential equations is first transformed into a system of dimensionless ordinary differential equations. By using the homotopy analysis method, a convergent series solution is obtained. The reliability and efficiency of series solutions are illustrated by good agreement with numerical results in the literature.Besides, the effects of the power-law indexthe magnetic field parameter and velocity ratio parameter on the flow are investigated.

Abstract The present work makes an analysis on the effects of second-order velocity slip and temperature jump boundary conditions for third-grade nanofluid over a coaxial cylinder. In the modeling of blood-based nanofluids containing metal or metal oxide nanoparticles, the viscosity is approximated to second-order Maclaurin’s series for the first time and the effective density is handled to a combination of temperature and nanoparticles volume fraction. The governing equations are transformed into a dimensionless system of nonlinear differential equations and solved by homotopy analysis method (HAM). The accuracy and efficiency of the HAM solutions are verified by ℏ $$\hbar $$ -curves and residual error curves using package BVPh2.0. The physical interpretations are illustrated by graphs and tables. The results revealed that the Nusselt number increases with an increase of nanoparticle volume fraction. The second-order velocity slip has a significant weakened effect on the skin friction. In addition, the Brownian motion and thermophoresis movement are collaborating to increase the temperature profile.

Abstract This paper aims to investigate the entropy generation in slip flow due to double rotating disks. Heat equation is formulated by considering effects of viscous dissipation, Joule heating and nonlinear thermal radiation. Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects of nanofluid are also discussed. Applied magnetic field is considered to be time dependent. Homogeneous–heterogeneous reactions are also studied. Von Karman transformations are used. Homotopy analysis method is implemented on system of equations for convergent series solutions. Influence of various flow parameters on entropy, Bejan number, velocity, temperature, Nusselt number, and skin friction is discussed through graphs and tables. Axial velocity decays for higher nonlinear mixed convection variable of temperature and velocity slip parameter. Temperature rises for larger thermal slip parameter and thermophoresis parameter. Entropy and Bejan number are increasing for higher estimation of homogeneous reaction parameter and diffusion parameters.

Here our purpose is to explore the entropy generation in nanofluid MHD flow by curved stretching sheet; second-order slip is considered. Additional effects of viscous dissipation, Joule heating, and activation energy are taken. Temperature and concentration boundary conditions are considered convectively. For convergence of series solution NDSolve MATHEMATICA is used. Velocity, Bejan number, concentration, temperature, and entropy generation graphs are sketched for important parameters. For greater estimations of first- and second-order velocity slip parameters fluid velocity reduces. The thermal and solutal Biot numbers enhance the temperature and concentration, respectively. The concentration also has direct relation with activation energy. Entropy generation reduces for chemical reaction parameter and first- and second-order slip parameters.

AbstractIn this article, we discuss the flow and heat transfer of nanofluids over a rotating porous disk with velocity slip and temperature jump. Three types of nanoparticles – Cu, Al2O3, and CuO – are considered with water as the base fluid. The nonlinear governing equations are reduced into ordinary differential equations by Von Karman transformations and solved using homotopy analysis method (HAM), which is verified in good agreement with numerical ones. The effects of involved parameters such as porous parameter, velocity slip, temperature jump, as well as the types of nanofluids on velocity and temperature fields are presented graphically and analysed.
