In this paper, particle swarm optimization is incorporated into an improved bacterial foraging optimization algorithm, which is applied to classifying imbalanced data to solve the problem of how original bacterial foraging optimization easily falls into local optimization. In this study, the borderline synthetic minority oversampling technique (Borderline-SMOTE) and Tomek link are used to pre-process imbalanced data. Then, the proposed algorithm is used to classify the imbalanced data. In the proposed algorithm, firstly, the chemotaxis process is improved. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to search first and then treat the result as bacteria, improving the global searching ability of bacterial foraging optimization (BFO). Secondly, the reproduction operation is improved and the selection standard of survival of the cost is improved. Finally, we improve elimination and dispersal operation, and the population evolution factor is introduced to prevent the population from stagnating and falling into a local optimum. In this paper, three data sets are used to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed algorithm is better than the existing approaches.

For the purpose of overcoming the premature property and low execution efficiency of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, this paper presents a particle swarm optimization algorithm based on the pattern search. In this algorithm, personal and global optimum particles are chosen in every iteration by a probability. Then, local optimization will be performed by the pattern search and then the original individuals will be replaced. The strong local search function of the pattern search provides an effective mechanism for the PSO algorithm to escape from the local optimum, which avoids prematurity of the algorithm. Simulation shows that this algorithm features a stronger function of global search than conventional PSO, so that the optimization process can be improved remarkably.

This paper presents an advanced particle swarm optimization Algorithm for solving the reactive power problem in power system. Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) has recently emerged as a very powerful technique for real parameter optimization. In order to overcome the delay in optimization and to further enhance the performance of BFO, this paper proposed a new hybrid algorithm combining the features of BFOA and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) called advanced bacterial foraging-oriented particle swarm optimization (ABFPSO) algorithm for solving reactive power problem. The simulation results demonstrate good performance of the ABFPSO in solving an optimal reactive power problem. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, it has been tested on IEEE 57 bus system and compared to other algorithms.

Based on the standard particle swarm optimization an improved PSO algorithm was introduced in this paper. The particle swarm optimization algorithm with prior low precision, divergent character and slow late convergence is improved by joining the negative gradient. By adding negative term on standard PSO formula, combining with coefficient of negative gradient term and inertia weight , lead to effectively balance between the local and global search ability. It will accelerate convergence and avoid local optimum. Moreover, from the bionic point of view, this improved PSO algorithm is closer to the reality of the actual situation of the bird flocking. From the simulation results of four typical test functions, it can be seen that an improved particle swarm optimization with negative gradient can significantly improve the solving speed and solution quality.

This paper focuses on electromagnetic information security in communication systems. Classical correlation electromagnetic analysis (CEMA) is known as a powerful way to recover the cryptographic algorithm’s key. In the classical method, only one byte of the key is used while the other bytes are considered as noise, which not only reduces the efficiency but also is a waste of information. In order to take full advantage of useful information, multiple bytes of the key are used. We transform the key into a multidimensional form, and each byte of the key is considered as a dimension. The problem of the right key searching is transformed into the problem of optimizing correlation coefficients of key candidates. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is particularly more suited to solve the optimization problems with high dimension and complex structure. In this paper, we applied the PSO algorithm into CEMA to solve multidimensional problems, and we also add a mutation operator to the optimization algorithm to improve the result. Here, we have proposed a multibyte correlation electromagnetic analysis based on particle swarm optimization. We verified our method on a universal test board that is designed for research and development on hardware security. We implemented the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cryptographic algorithm on the test board. Experimental results have shown that our method outperforms the classical method; it achieves approximately 13.72% improvement for the corresponding case.

Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm with mutation operation based on K-means is proposed in this paper, this algorithm Combined the local searching optimization ability of K-means with the gobal searching optimization ability of Particle Swarm Optimization, the algorithm self-adaptively adjusted inertia weight according to fitness variance of population. Mutation operation was peocessed for the poor performative particle in population. The results showed that the algorithm had solved the poblems of slow convergence speed of traditional Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm and easy falling into the local optimum of K-Means, and more effectively improved clustering quality.

The aim is to improve the convergence of the algorithm, and increase the population diversity. Adaptively particles of groups fallen into local optimum is adjusted in order to realize global optimal. by judging groups spatial location of concentration and fitness variance. At the same time, the global factors are adjusted dynamically with the action of the current particle fitness. Four typical function optimization problems are drawn into simulation experiment. The results show that the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is convergent, robust and accurate.

When the parameters were measured by using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in practice, there were some parameters hard to measure, which would influenced the reflective spectral of FBG severely, and make the characteristic information harder to be extracted. Therefore, particle swarm optimization algorithm was proposed in analyzing the uniform force reflective spectral of FBG. Based on the uniform force sense theory of FBG and particle swarm optimization algorithm, the objective function were established, meanwhile the experiment and simulation were constructed. And the characteristic information in reflective spectrum of FBG was extracted. By using particle swarm optimization algorithm, experimental data showed that particle swarm optimization algorithm used in extracting the characteristic information not only was efficaciously and easily, but also had some advantages, such as high accuracy, stability and fast convergence rate. And it was useful in high precision measurement of FBG sensor.
