We consider the exterior as well as the interior free-boundary Bernoulli problem associated with the infinity-Laplacian under a non-autonomous boundary condition. Recall that the Bernoulli problem involves two domains: one is given, the other is unknown. Concerning the exterior problem we assume that the given domain has a positive reach, and prove an existence and uniqueness result together with an explicit representation of the solution. Concerning the interior problem, we obtain a similar result under the assumption that the complement of the given domain has a positive reach. In particular, for the interior problem we show that uniqueness holds in contrast to the usual problem associated to the Laplace operator.

In this manuscript, we introduce a new notion, admissible hybrid Z -contraction that unifies several nonlinear and linear contractions in the set-up of a b-metric space. In our main theorem, we discuss the existence and uniqueness result of such mappings in the context of complete b-metric space. The given result not only unifies the several existing results in the literature, but also extends and improves them. We express some consequences of our main theorem by using variant examples of simulation functions. As applications, the well-posedness and the Ulam–Hyers stability of the fixed point problem are also studied.

AbstractWe introduce and study a new kind of nonlocal boundary value problems of multi-term fractional differential equations. The existence and uniqueness results for the given problem are obtained by applying standard fixed point theorems. We also construct some examples for demonstrating the application of the main results.

AbstractWe study the eigenvalue problem for a superlinear convolution operator in the special case of bilinear constitutive laws and establish the existence and uniqueness of a one-parameter family of nonlinear eigenfunctions under a topological shape constraint. Our proof uses a nonlinear change of scalar parameters and applies Krein–Rutman arguments to a linear substitute problem. We also present numerical simulations and discuss the asymptotics of two limiting cases.

We prove an existence and uniqueness result for a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) with dissipative drift in Hilbert spaces. We also give examples of stochastic partial differential equations which can be solved with our result.

In this paper, we establish a global [Formula: see text] estimates for a Hessian type equation with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary. By the method of sub and sup solution, we get an existence and uniqueness result for the eigenvalue problem of a Hessian type operator.

In 1955, J. Surányi and P. Turán (8) initiated the problem of existence and uniqueness of interpolatory polynomials of degrees less than or equal to 2n — 1 when their values and second derivatives are prescribed on n given nodes. This kind of interpolation was termed (0, 2)-interpolation. Later, Balázs and Turán (1) gave the explicit representation of the interpolatory polynomials for the case when the n given nodes (n even) are taken to be the zeros of πn(x) = (1 — x2)Pn′(x), where Pn–i(x) is the Legendre polynomial of degree n — 1. In this case the explicit representation of interpolatory polynomials turns out to be simple and elegant.Balázs and Turán (2) proved the convergence of these polynomials when f(x) has a continuous first derivative satisfying certain conditions of modulus of continuity. They noted (1) that a significant application of lacunary interpolation could possibly be given in the theory of a differential equation of the form y′ + A(x)y= 0.

In this manuscript, we aim to provide a new hybrid type contraction that is a combination of a Jaggi type contraction and interpolative type contraction in the framework of complete metric spaces. We investigate the existence and uniqueness of such a hybrid contraction in separate theorems. We consider a solution to certain fractional differential equations as an application of the given results. In addition, we provide an example to indicate the genuineness of the given results.

We show an existence and uniqueness result for mildly nonlinear Schrödinger systems of (self-consistent) Hartree–Fock form. We also shortly resume the already existing results on the semiclassical limit and the asymptotic and dispersive behavior of such systems.

A review of the development of the theory of existence and uniqueness of solutions to initial-value problems for mostly reduced versions of the nonlinear Maxwell-Boltzmann equation with a cut-off of intermolecular interaction, precedes the formulation and discussion of a somewhat generalized initial-value problem for the full nonlinear Maxwell-Boltzmann equation, with or without a cut-off. This is followed by a derivation of a new existence-uniqueness result for a particular Cauchy problem for the full nonlinear Maxwell-Boltzmann equation with a cut-off, under the assumption that the monatomic Boltzmann gas in the unbounded physical space X is acted upon by a member of a broad class of external conservative forces with sufficiently well-behaved potentials, defined on X and bounded from below. The result represents a significant improvement of an earlier theorem by this author which was until now the strongest obtained for Cauchy problems for the full Maxwell-Boltzmann equation. The improvement is basically due to the introduction of equivalent norms in a Banach space, the definition of which is connected with an exponential function of the total energy of a free-streaming molecule.
