Measuring productivity is the systematic process for both inter- and intra-organizational comparisons. The productivity measurement can be used to control and facilitate decision-making in manufacturing as well as service organizations. This study’s objective was to develop a decision support framework by integrating an analytic network process (ANP) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach to tackling productivity measurement and benchmarking problems in a manufacturing environment. The ANP was used to capture the interdependency between the criteria taking into consideration the ambiguity and vagueness. The nonparametric DEA approach was utilized to determine the input-oriented constant returns to scale (CRS) efficiency of different value-adding production units and to benchmark them. The proposed framework was implemented to benchmark the productivity of an apparel manufacturing company. By applying the model, industrial managers can gain benefits by identifying the possible contributing factors that play an important role in increasing the productivity of manufacturing organizations.

This paper proposes the use of fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) in identifying the content of the structural decisions of manufacturing strategy that integrates sustainability and the classical manufacturing strategy framework, considering firm size as a relevant component in decision-making. Fuzzy set theory elucidates judgment through linguistic variables while analytic network process (ANP) handles the complexity of the decision-making brought about by subjectivity and relationships among components in the decision problem. A group of experts in manufacturing was tasked to elicit judgment in pairwise comparisons following in the methodology of the ANP. Results also show that structural decisions that support sustainability integrate backward supply chain. This supports existing approaches particularly on sustainable supply chain and green purchasing. The contribution of this work lies in adopting a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework that identifies the content of the structural decisions of a sustainable manufacturing strategy.

Nowadays, supply chain management decisions have become strategic decisions. Also, greening process of supply chain activities were required due to satisfy the customer expectations, and protect the environmental life. Since one of the strategic decisions for supply chains is the supplier selection, greening process also became necessary for supplier evaluations. Within this context, in this chapter, a comprehensive list of the criteria for green supplier selection was determined. Fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method was applied to determine the cause-effect relationships between the main criteria. Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (ANP) method was used to find the relative weights of the criteria. Finally, fuzzy VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method was applied to prioritize the various suppliers.

Product-service system (PSS) approach has emerged as a competitive strategy to impel manufacturers to offer a set of products and services as a whole. A new three-domain PSS conceptual design framework supporting engineering design methodology is proposed in this research. Identification of the critical parameters in these domains plays an important role. Engineering characteristics (ECs) in the functional domain, which include product-related ECs (P-ECs) and service-related ECs (S-ECs), are identified by translating customer requirements (CRs) in the customer domain. Quality function deployment (QFD) is used to implement this translation process. Prioritizing ECs is a crucial issue in achieving the optimal PSS planning. First, to consider complex dependency relationships between and within CRs, P-ECs and S-ECs, the analytic network process (ANP) approach is integrated in QFD to determine the initial importance weights of ECs. Second, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach is applied to adjust the initial weights of ECs considering requirements of the manufacturers. In order to deal with the vagueness, uncertainty and diversity in decision-making, the fuzzy set theory and group decision-making technique are used in the supermatrix approach of ANP in the first phase. A case study is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed prioritizing approach for ECs in PSS conceptual design.

Private, public, profit, and non-profit organizations, and society as a whole currently face a significant reliable information necessity problem. Especially supply chains need trustworthy information to perform their activities successfully. This study aims to propose a framework and identify how reliability of information can be evaluated and measured through the concept of transparency. In this context, dimensions such as; comprehensiveness, regularity, timeliness, content, scope, and user-friendliness are the pillars of the proposed framework. Selected criteria have been used as inputs to develop the information transparency level. The Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (ANP) is used to obtain weights of these inputs, and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used for the determination of the efficiency ranking for transparency. Results demonstrated that Content, Scope and Comprehensiveness dimensions have 75% impact on the transparency of data. Remaining 25 percent is affected by Timeliness, Regularity and User-friendliness.
