The vibration caused by railways is an environmental constraint in the development of over-track buildings. To study the influence of environmental vibration from the high-speed railway on over-track buildings, a finite element model including track, soil, and buildings was set up. Based on the vertical vibration acceleration sampled on the rail, the equivalent line load acting on rails vertically was obtained by a simplified model. On the basis of verifying the simulation model by measurement results, the vertical vibration induced by high-speed railways in over-track buildings was studied quantitatively. Through introducing correction terms relating to the thickness and height of the over-track platform, the story number, and the structure of the over-track building, an existing model released by the railway industry of China was improved. Compared with the existing model only being suitable for predicting vertical vibration of the first floor, the improved model can predict vertical vibration of different floors.

In this paper, the responses of high-speed railway bridge subjected to seismic load were investigated by numerical simulation. Elastic deformation will occur in the bridge system under low-level earthquake; however, the bridge system may enter a nonlinear stage under high-level earthquake. The whole finite element model of the bridge system was set up by means of ANSYS software and self-compiled moment-curvature relationship program, the elastic seismic responses of bridge system and the elastic-plastic deformation of piers considering different vehicle speeds are calculated respectively. The calculation results show that, the earthquake responses of bridge system are increase in general with the increase of vehicle speed and earthquake intensity, and the bottom of piers step into elastic-plasticity stage under high-level earthquake, the plastic hinges occurred at the pier bottom, the pier bottom step into the plastic stage, some measures such as lateral reinforced steel encryption should be taken into account to ensure safety.

Purpose Balancing interfirm relationships is important for firms’ long-term superior performance. However, prior studies mainly focus on interfirm competition or interfirm cooperation separately, ignoring the balance of interfirm relationships. To bridge this gap in knowledge, this study aims to develop a framework to evaluate the balance of interfirm competition and interfirm cooperation and propose strategies to optimize a firm’s interfirm relationships. Design/methodology/approach After an in-depth literature review, a framework was developed for evaluating and optimizing the interfirm relationships. Taking the high-speed railway industry as an example, the proposed framework was implemented. Findings The results of the case confirm that the balancing of interfirm relationships can lead to more superior firm performance. Also, rather than mutual suppression, the interfirm competition and interfirm cooperation present a roughly positive relationship. Originality/value This study would contribute to the existing knowledge body by developing a framework for balancing interfirm relationships. Also, this study can aid practitioners in evaluating and optimizing their interfirm relationship structures.

In order to study the effects of high-speed railway in tunnel on vibration response of upper building, the Vehicle-Track-Tunnel-Soil-Building coupling dynamic model was established, and the reaction force of fasteners was used to transmit between Vehicle-Track coupling dynamic model and Tunnel-Soil-Building finite element model. According to modal analysis for typical section of building, sensitive frequency range and sensitive structure locations were obtained. In terms of two conditions, Tunnel-Building Integrated Structure and building are evaded from tunnel for some distance, 1/3 octave vibration level and VLZ vibration acceleration level for all measuring points were calculated to analyze the vibration response of building. The results are shown as follows: for Tunnel-Building Integrated Structure, the overall vibration level is high, which is above 65dB. 2-3dB will be reduced by decreasing speed and improving standard of track. when building is evaded from tunnel for some distance, with larger evaded distance, the vibration response is slighter. However, when evaded distance is above 30m, vibration may be amplified ,so its necessary to select proper distance. Vibration response of structure is most strong when 4 lines meet under building, so strict limitation on meeting condition of trains can effectively reduce vibration level.

Aeroengines pursue high performance, and compressing blade-casing clearance has become one of the main ways to improve turbomachinery efficiency. Rub-impact faults occur frequently with clearance decreasing. A high-speed rotor-support-casing test rig was set up, and the mechanism tests of light and heavy rub-impact were carried out. A finite element model of the test rig was established, and the calculation results were in good agreement with the experimental results under both kinds of rub-impact conditions. Based on the actual blade-casing structure model, the effects of the major physical parameters including imbalance and material characteristics were investigated. During the rub-impact, the highest stress occurs at the blade tip first and then it is transmitted to the blade root. Deformation on the impact blade tip generates easily with decreased yield strength, and stress concentration at the blade tip occurs obviously with weaker stiffness. The agreement of the computation results with the experimental data indicates the method could be used to estimate rub-impact characteristics and is effective in design and analyses process.

Continuous welded rail (CWR) has been widely applied to the Chinese high-speed railways. It is interesting to reduce the effect of rail longitudinal force on the long-span cable-stayed bridges. Taking the pile-soil interaction into account, the finite element model of CWR on the long-span cable-stayed bridge is established based on the bridge-track interaction theory. The rail longitudinal force can be reduced and the track stability can be improved significantly by installing Rail Expansion Joint (REJ). The layout scheme of REJ plays a controlling role on designing CWR on bridges. Results show that the unidirectional REJ should be laid on both ends of the long-span cable-stayed bridge. Switch rails of REJ are set up on the main beam, stock rails are laid on the simply supported beams and crossing over beam joints, and several-meter long small resistance fasteners need to be laid on the sides of stock rails to reduce the fixed pier longitudinal force near the main beam. The range of REJ laid on cable-stayed bridge is mainly determined by temperature, rail breaking, and seismic condition; the bending and braking loads have little influence on it. Multiple field tests are carried out to prove the validity of the numerical model and the design methodology.

As a result of rapid development of a high-speed railway and infrastructure in China in recent years, the subgrade deformation and settlement control standards put forward more stringent requirements. Based on ABAQUS 6.14, established finite element model of screw pile group composite foundation. Then obtained the settlement, axial force distribution and pile side resistance distribution of center pile of pile group. Next design parameters sensitive analysis was made, such as pile length, pile spacing and so on, in order to obtain a reasonable design pile parameters by analysis of mechanical behavior.

Depending on a project of constructing a tunnel of high-speed railway which crosses underneath the foundation of tall buildings in weathered rock area, the paper analyzes the failure process and its law of anti-seismic mortar anchors under the foundation of tall buildings by simulating the whole process of construction with finite element model. Then the coverage scope, influence rules and extent of tunnel excavation on the anti-pulling effect and stability of mortar anchors are analyzed according to the changes of lateral pressure and axial force of anti-seismic mortar anchors before and after construction. The results show that the influence area can be divided into three parts, of which the main area where the anti-seismic mortar anchors are badly affected is on the top of the tunnel and extends horizontally to a certain range. Finally, the paper gives an applicable method to estimate the area where the anti-seismic mortar anchors should be strengthened by grouting, which also applies to the similar projects in weathered rock area.

The values of longitudinal horizontal linear-stiffness of piers are very important parameters in the design of welded turnout on bridge and they can have a great impact on the force and displacement of the turnout. The layout form of turnout and bridge of welded turnout structure system on high-speed railway bridges are various, so the values of longitudinal horizontal linear-stiffness of piers have to be limited in order to insure the strength and stability of track structure on bridges and at the same time meet the requirement of comparative displacement of beam and rail, turnout proper and frog. To make the value-taking easy in the design process, a finite element model for welded turnout-bridge-platform is established in this paper, which is based on the principle of longitudinal interaction of welded turnout on bridges. Directing at three typical layout forms (No.18 single turnout+4×32m continuous beam, single crossover+6×32m continuous beam and typical throat point+4×32m continuous beam) of welded turnout and bridge on ballast track, a research of the relation between the force and displacement of turnout, and the values of longitudinal horizontal linear-stiffness of piers has been carried out. Based on the comprehensive analysis, minimal values of longitudinal horizontal linear-stiffness of piers which are suitable for these three kinds of layout forms, and the values are 1000,800 and 1600 kN/cm·double-line respectively.

Creep will lead to increasing deflection of prestressed concrete girder, which may induce rails uneven, especially to ballastless tracks in high-speed railways. In this paper, two creep models, CEB-FIP90 and ACI209, were used in a finite element model to analyze influences of creep on simply supported prestressed concrete box girders which are used in high-speed railway in China. Sensitivity analysis was carried on towards curing age, secondary dead load, loading time and prestressing method on deformation of the girder. The results show creep should be controlled in engineering to ensure driving security.
