Being a living structure, the language is constantly evolving, including with the help of borrowings. It is impossible to stop this process. It is easier for young people to express their thoughts and feelings in a foreign language, rather than using fixed expressions in their native language. All this is happening as a result of increased information flows, the emergence of the global computer network – “the Internet”, the development of the world economic market, international tourism, and cultural ties. Today, the study of borrowings as manifestations of the interaction of different languages with each other is not the last among the problems of modern linguistics, and therefore, the attention of domestic and foreign researchers is directed to this issue. English plays a big role in the life of young people of Kazakhstan, who actively use foreign words in everyday life. In their opinion, it sounds beautiful and fashionable. The borrowing and use of words of foreign origin is a consequence of linguistic contacts influenced not only by historical and cultural factors, but also by the growing influence of the mass media. This article is dedicated to finding the peculiarities of the influence of English borrowings on the culture and speech of Kazakhstani youth.Being a living structure, the language is constantly evolving, including with the help of borrowings. This paper assesses the comprehensive macroeconomic picture of the world and Vietnam in 2017 and forecasts the outlook for 2018, and then making some policy implications for Vietnam. The world economy in 2017 is considered to be the most prosperous since 2011, thanks to the steady growth of key economies, bounced global trade, and favorable global financial conditions. However, as slow and uncertain global investment growth as well as many unpredictable factors in US government policy and Brexit, and political risks from tensions of the Korean Peninsula, 2018 will continue to witness unpredictable developments in the global economy. Faced with that situation, together with internal difficulties in the country, Vietnam should have flexible solutions, high determination and act in a drastic way in order to achieve the objectives on the economic growth and inflation as outlined. In addition, Vietnam should continue to promote the trade facilitation activities, the improvement of the business investment environment, take advantage of new opportunities to attract foreign investment capital for infrastructure construction, keep on innovating, and enhance the competitiveness to bring our economy to the path of rapid and sustainable development. Purpose As the 4th industrial revolution (4IR) unfolds, there is an increasing awareness that its implications for workforce transformation and shifts in workforce demand will profoundly impact the future of work. Specifically, the paper seeks to answer the following research questions: i) how does Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) equip young people for the real world of work, especially in the era of the third industrial revolution?; ii) does SIWES support the exposure of young people to the world of digitalization?; and iii) what are the effects of the SIWES exposure on the employability of young people? This paper aims to evaluate the University Internship system and preparation of young people for the world of work in the 4th industrial revolution. Design/methodology/approach This paper used a mixed method to unravel the objectives of this study, that is, quantitative and qualitative methods. For the former, structured questionnaires were used to elicit a response from 249 young people drawn from tertiary institutions across Lagos State, Nigeria. The latter used an in-depth interview method conducted among 45 respondents (25 employers of labor and 20 lecturers). Findings The findings reveal that: SIWES contributes meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge and capacity building among young people; SIWES exposes young people to the world of digitalization, depending on the organization where the internship takes place; and SIWES pays little attention to financial rewards and more attention to the acquisition of skills that are relevant to the world of work. The practical and policy implications of the findings are critically discussed. Originality/value This paper critically evaluates the SIWES policy amidst the growing threats of widening skills gap, greater inequality and broader polarization.

Russian economy has reached the low level of inflation, but economic growth has not accelerated. Moreover, according to official forecasts, in the following years it will still be low. The article concludes that domestic demand, which is one of the main factors of growth, is significantly constrained by monetary, budgetary and fiscal spheres. The situation in the Russian economy is still hampered by the decline of the world economic growth. The prospects of financial markets are highly uncertain. This increases the possibility of crisis in the world. Leading countries widely use non-traditional measures to support their economies in the similar environment. In the world economy as well as in Russia a principally new combination of factors has emerged, which create specific features of economic growth. It requires special set of measures to stimulate such growth. The article proves that Russian regulators have large unused potential to stimulate growth. It includes monetization, long-money creation, budget and tax stimuli. It is important that the instruments, which will be used, should be based on domestic mechanisms. This will strengthen financial basis of the economy and may encourage economic growth. Some specific suggestions as to their use are made.

The article analyzes fundamental reasons for the world economic crisis in the light of global technological shifts. It proves that it is caused by the substitution of technological modes. It is shown that sharp increase and slump in stock indices and prices for energy resources are typical of the process of technological substitution which occurs regularly according to the rhythm of long-wave fluctuations of the world economic activity. The article rationalizes a package of anti-crisis measures aimed at stimulating the new technological mode. Its structure and role of the locomotive factor of the new long wave of economic growth are revealed.

Climate change is a financial factor that carries with it risks and opportunities for companies. To support boards of directors of companies belonging to all jurisdictions, the World Economic Forum issued in January 2019 eight Principlescontaining both theoretical and practical provisions on: climate accountability, competence, governance, management, disclosure and dialogue. The paper analyses each Principle to understand scope and managerial consequences for boards and to evaluate whether the legal distinctions, among the various jurisdictions, may undermine the application of the Principles or, by contrast, despite the differences the Principles may be a useful and effective guidance to drive boards' of directors' conduct around the world in handling climate change challenges. Five jurisdictions are taken into consideration for this comparative analysis: Europe (and UK), US, Australia, South Africa and Canada. The conclusion is that the WEF Principles, as soft law, is the best possible instrument to address boards of directors of worldwide companies, harmonise their conduct and effectively help facing such global emergency.
