Determinants of vegetable production input efficiency affect a Kosovar farmer’s decision to contribute to the agricultural sector. This study evaluates the input efficiency of greenhouse tomato and pepper farms in Kosovo. Using data collected from farm surveys, we conducted an input-oriented data envelopment analysis (DEA) to empirically assess input efficiency. Second, linear regression analysis was used to investigate what farm variables predict greenhouse tomato and pepper technical efficiency (TE). The DEA results indicated that, among the seven regions in Kosovo, Prizren emerged as the most efficient greenhouse tomato-producing region with a mean efficiency of 0.83 (on a scale of 0 to 1.00). Prishtina followed with a mean efficiency of 0.80. In the production of greenhouse peppers, Prishtina was the most efficient region with a mean efficiency of 0.99. Ferizaj followed with a mean efficiency of 0.93. Conclusions about farm characteristics that explain differences in efficiency were sensitive to model specification. Nevertheless, depending on the structural and operational characteristics of the greenhouse tomato and pepper farms, there is an opportunity for the technically inefficient farms and regions to improve their use of inputs.

This paper features a statistical analysis of the monthly three factor Fama/French return series. Rolling OLS regressions explore the relationship between the 3 factors, using data from July 1926 to June 2018, available on French’s website. The results suggest there are significant and time-varying relationships between the factors. A sub-sample from July 1990 to July 2018 is used to analyze the three series using two-stage least squares and the Hausman test to check for issues related to endogeneity. The empirical results suggest that the factors, when combined in OLS regression analysis, as suggested by Fama and French (2018), are likely to suffer from endogeneity. Ramsey’s RESET tests suggest a nonlinear relationship exists between the three series. We use two instruments to estimate the market betas, and compare them to betas estimated not using instruments. Non-parametric tests of the two sets of betas suggest significant differences. The results suggest that using these factors in linear regression analysis, as recommended by Fama and French [(2018). Choosing factors. Journal of Financial Economics, 128(2), 234–252] is problematic in that the estimated coefficients are highly sensitive to the correct model specification.

The health benefits of breastfeeding to infants and mothers have been well recognised. This study applies linear regression analysis to assess the determinants of breastfeeding duration of first born using data from the Second Malaysian Family Life Survey. The proportion of women who breastfed their first child is 82 percent, of which 97 percent reported their breastfeeding duration. The distribution of breastfeeding duration has a mean of 5.7 months and a median of two months. Important determinants of breastfeeding duration include maternal age, ethnicity, period of first birth, husband's occupation and work status of the woman. Climate change is one of serious threats to the agricultural sector. In North Sumatra Province, climate change is characterized by shorter rainy season with higher rainfall. To overcome such climate change, it is necessary to provide irrigation that can accommodate excessive rain water and distribute it in times of shortage. Therefore, changes in rainfall will not be too influential on productivity. This is especially important for plants that need a lot of water like rice. To analyze the influence of irrigation in North Sumatra Province, the data were collected from 27 regencies/cities in 2011 – 2015 and were analyzed using a Simple Linear Regression analysis model. The estimation results show that irrigation can push the productivity variances. The irrigation regression coefficient of -0.133432 shows that each increase of irrigation area by 1% will decrease the productivity variation by 0.13 tons/ha

The current development of business competition in Indonesia is very tight, which makes companies do various ways to attract consumers to buy their products. This study aims to determine whether the location of the store and brand image influence consumer buying interest in the Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus, by using data collection methods in the form of a questionnaire of 160 respondents. In analyzing the data using validity, reliability, and classic assumption tests, namely normality, multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression analysis. While for testing the hypothesis, namely the F test, T test, R2 determinant coefficient using SPSS tools. The results of the tests conducted found that the location of the store had a positive and significant effect on consumer buying interest and the brand image also had a positive and significant effect on consumer buying interest.

This paper analyzes and discusses the impact of fiscal decentralization on the efficiency of museums run by municipalities. It tests the hypothesis that municipalities with higher levels of income self-sufficiency can more efficiently manage museums than municipalities with lower levels of financial self-sufficiency. For our analysis, we used financial data for the years 2015 to analyze the efficiency of museums using data envelopment analysis (DEA). To test the hypothesis about the impact of financial self-sufficiency, we use regression analysis. The results obtained did not confirmed the hypothesis.

AbstractTechnical efficiency measures are calculated for ratite producers using data envelopment analysis. Regression analysis is then used to determine producer characteristics that are likely to lead to higher technical efficiencies. Results indicate that the most technically efficient ratite producers in Louisiana are not producing at the benchmark efficiency level advocated by the industry. Producer experience with other livestock, specialization, and labor are factors likely to lead to higher technical efficiency. These results are expected to hold for most new, alternative livestock enterprises.

The main objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of Croatian hotels and provide insights into the sources of their efficiency. In order to obtain set goals, a two-stage analysis was performed on a sample of 69 large and medium-size hotels that were operating in Croatia in 2019. In the first stage of analysis, the efficiency scores of hotels were obtained by using Data envelopment analysis (DEA), whereas in the second stage of analysis, achieved efficiency coefficients were served as dependent variable in a truncated regression model in which hotel’s ownership, age, location, size and star rating were applied as independent variables. As this is the first time that efficiency of Croatian hotel industry is investigated with the application of truncated regression analysis, this research contributes to the existing literature by shading new lights on the sources of hotels’ efficiency from the perspective of a country heavily relaying on seasonal seaside tourism. Results of the research showed that all analysed variables (except age) play significant and important role in determining the achieved level of efficiency.

Abstract This study measures and decomposes the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) of the SMEs in the agricultural sector across 23 regencies/cities in Aceh province, Indonesia during the 2015-2019 period. Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the study found a low level of SMEs’ productivity during the study period. The SMEs in Aceh province recorded different levels of TFP. Overall, the SMEs’ TFP has slightly declined, contributed mainly by an increase in efficiency level and a decline in the technical efficiency change. These findings showed the importance of adopting advanced agricultural-related technologies and implementing good SMEs’ governance principles to further improve SMEs’ TFP. Finally, the government must prioritize promoting non-productive SMEs across the 23 regencies/districts in the province by offering sufficient financial aids and conducting professional managerial training programs.
