Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a human eye disease that affects people who are suffering from diabetes. It causes damage to their eyes, including vision loss. It is treatable; however, it takes a long time to diagnose and may require many eye exams. Early detection of DR may prevent or delay the vision loss. Therefore, a robust, automatic and computer-based diagnosis of DR is essential. Currently, deep neural networks are being utilized in numerous medical areas to diagnose various diseases. Consequently, deep transfer learning is utilized in this article. We employ five convolutional-neural-network-based designs (AlexNet, GoogleNet, Inception V4, Inception ResNet V2 and ResNeXt-50). A collection of DR pictures is created. Subsequently, the created collections are labeled with an appropriate treatment approach. This automates the diagnosis and assists patients through subsequent therapies. Furthermore, in order to identify the severity of DR retina pictures, we use our own dataset to train deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Experimental results reveal that the pre-trained model Se-ResNeXt-50 obtains the best classification accuracy of 97.53% for our dataset out of all pre-trained models. Moreover, we perform five different experiments on each CNN architecture. As a result, a minimum accuracy of 84.01% is achieved for a five-degree classification.

The subject of this research is medical chest X-ray images. After fundamental pre-processing, the accumulated database of such images can be used for training deep convolutional neural networks that have become one of the most significant innovations in recent years. The trained network carries out preliminary binary classification of the incoming images and serve as an assistant to the radiotherapist. For this purpose, it is necessary to train the neural network to carefully minimize type I and type II errors. Possible approach towards improving the effectiveness of application of neural networks, by the criteria of reducing computational complexity and quality of image classification, is the auxiliary approaches: image pre-processing and preliminary calculation of entropy of the fragments. The article provides the algorithm for X-ray image pre-processing, its fragmentation, and calculation of the entropy of separate fragments. In the course of pre-processing, the region of lungs and spine is selected, which comprises approximately 30-40% of the entire image. Then the image is divided into the matrix of fragments, calculating the entropy of separate fragments in accordance with Shannon’s formula based pm the analysis of individual pixels. Determination of the rate of occurrence of each of the 255 colors allows calculating the total entropy. The use of entropy for detecting pathologies is based on the assumption that its values differ for separate fragments and overall picture of its distribution between the images with the norm and pathologies. The article analyzes the statistical values: standard deviation of error, dispersion. A fully connected neural network is used for determining the patterns in distribution of entropy and its statistical characteristics on various fragments of the chest X-ray image.

Abstract Today integration of facts from virtual and paper files may be very vital for the expertise control of efficient. This calls for the record to be localized at the photograph. Several strategies had been proposed to resolve this trouble; however, they may be primarily based totally on conventional photograph processing strategies that aren't sturdy to intense viewpoints and backgrounds. Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), on the opposite hand, have demonstrated to be extraordinarily sturdy to versions in history and viewing attitude for item detection and classification responsibilities. We endorse new utilization of Neural Networks (NNs) for the localization trouble as a localization trouble. The proposed technique ought to even localize photos that don't have a very square shape. Also, we used a newly accrued dataset that has extra tough responsibilities internal and is in the direction of a slipshod user. The end result knowledgeable in 3 exclusive classes of photos and our proposed technique has 83% on average. The end result is as compared with the maximum famous record localization strategies and cell applications.

When pancreas fails to secrete sufficient insulin in the human body, the glucose level in blood either becomes too high or too low. This fluctuation in glucose level affects different body organs such as kidney, brain, and eye. When the complications start appearing in the eyes due to Diabetic Mellitus (DM), it is called Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). DR can be categorized in several classes based on the severity, it can be Microaneurysms (ME), Haemorrhages (HE), Hard and Soft Exudates (EX and SE). DR is a slow start process that starts with very mild symptoms, becomes moderate with the time and results in complete vision loss, if not detected on time. Early-stage detection may greatly bolster in vision loss. However, it is impassable to detect the symptoms of DR with naked eyes. Ophthalmologist harbor to the several approaches and algorithm which makes use of different Machine Learning (ML) methods and classifiers to overcome this disease. The burgeoning insistence of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and their advancement in extracting features from different fundus images captivate several researchers to strive on it. Transfer Learning (TL) techniques help to use pre-trained CNN on a dataset that has finite training data, especially that in under developing countries. In this work, we propose several CNN architecture along with distinct classifiers which segregate the different lesions (ME and EX) in DR images with very eye-catching accuracies.

General physicians have an essential role in preventing vision loss in older people. However, most vision-threatening eye disorders are initially asymptomatic and often go underdiagnosed. Therefore screening, early detection, and timely intervention are important in their management. The most common cause of visual impairment is uncorrected or undercorrected refractive error, followed by cataract, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. Spectacles and cataract surgery can successfully restore sight for uncorrected refractive error and cataract, respectively. Visual impairment as a result of age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy can be prevented with appropriate treatment if they are identified early enough. This chapter provides an overview of common age-related eye disease and visual impairment.

Keratoconus (KTC) is a noninflammatory disorder characterized by progressive thinning, corneal deformation, and scarring of the cornea. The pathological mechanisms of this condition have been investigated for a long time. In recent years, this disease has come to the attention of many research centers because the number of people diagnosed with keratoconus is on the rise. In this context, solutions that facilitate both the diagnostic and treatment options are quickly needed. The main contribution of this paper is the implementation of an algorithm that is able to determine whether an eye is affected or not by keratoconus. The KeratoDetect algorithm analyzes the corneal topography of the eye using a convolutional neural network (CNN) that is able to extract and learn the features of a keratoconus eye. The results show that the KeratoDetect algorithm ensures a high level of performance, obtaining an accuracy of 99.33% on the data test set. KeratoDetect can assist the ophthalmologist in rapid screening of its patients, thus reducing diagnostic errors and facilitating treatment.

In recent years, deep learning, as a very popular artificial intelligence method, can be said to be a small area in the field of image recognition. It is a type of machine learning, actually derived from artificial neural networks, and is a method used to learn the characteristics of sample data. It is a multilayer network, which can learn the information from the bottom to the top of the image through the multilayer network, so as to extract the characteristics of the sample, and then perform identification and classification. The purpose of deep learning is to make the machine have the same analytical and learning capabilities as the human brain. The ability of deep learning in data processing (including images) is unmatched by other methods, and its achievements in recent years have left other methods behind. This article comprehensively reviews the application research progress of deep convolutional neural networks in ancient Chinese pattern restoration and mainly focuses on the research based on deep convolutional neural networks. The main tasks are as follows: (1) a detailed and comprehensive introduction to the basic knowledge of deep convolutional neural and a summary of related algorithms along the three directions of text preprocessing, learning, and neural networks are provided. This article focuses on the related mechanism of traditional pattern repair based on deep convolutional neural network and analyzes the key structure and principle. (2) Research on image restoration models based on deep convolutional networks and adversarial neural networks is carried out. The model is mainly composed of four parts, namely, information masking, feature extraction, generating network, and discriminant network. The main functions of each part are independent and interdependent. (3) The method based on the deep convolutional neural network and the other two methods are tested on the same part of the Qinghai traditional embroidery image data set. From the final evaluation index of the experiment, the method in this paper has better evaluation index than the traditional image restoration method based on samples and the image restoration method based on deep learning. In addition, from the actual image restoration effect, the method in this paper has a better image restoration effect than the other two methods, and the restoration results produced are more in line with the habit of human observation with the naked eye.

Concrete cracks are very serious and potentially dangerous. There are three obvious limitations existing in the present machine learning methods: low recognition rate, low accuracy, and long time. Improved crack detection based on convolutional neural networks can automatically detect whether an image contains cracks and mark the location of the cracks, which can greatly improve the monitoring efficiency. Experimental results show that the Adam optimization algorithm and batch normalization (BN) algorithm can make the model converge faster and achieve the maximum accuracy of 99.71%.
