Regular dry dock maintenance work on ship hulls is essential for maintaining the efficiency and sustainability of the shipping industry. Hydro blasting is one of the major processes of dry dock maintenance work, where human labor is extensively used. The conventional methods of maintenance work suffer from many shortcomings, and hence robotized solutions have been developed. This paper proposes a novel robotic system that can synthesize a benchmarking map for a previously blasted ship hull. A Self-Organizing Fuzzy logic (SOF) classifier has been developed to benchmark the blasting quality of a ship hull similar to blasting quality categorization done by human experts. Hornbill, a multipurpose inspection and maintenance robot intended for hydro blasting, benchmarking, and painting, has been developed by integrating the proposed SOF classifier. Moreover, an integrated system solution has been developed to improve dry dock maintenance of ship hulls. The proposed SOF classifier can achieve a mean accuracy of 0.9942 with an execution time of 8.42 µs. Realtime experimenting with the proposed robotic system has been conducted on a ship hull. This experiment confirms the ability of the proposed robotic system in synthesizing a benchmarking map that reveals the benchmarking quality of different areas of a previously blasted ship hull. This sort of a benchmarking map would be useful for ensuring the blasting quality as well as performing efficient spot wise reblasting before the painting. Therefore, the proposed robotic system could be utilized for improving the efficiency and quality of hydro blasting work on the ship hull maintenance industry.

The main stages of solving the problem of planning movements by mobile robots in a non-stationary working environment based on neural networks, genetic algorithms and fuzzy logic are considered. The features common to the considered intellectual algorithms are singled out and their comparative analysis is carried out. Recommendations are given on the use of this or that method depending on the type of problem being solved and the requirements for the speed of the algorithm, the quality of the trajectory, the availability (volume) of sensory information, etc.

Perceived Quality clusters different aspects that influence the customer’s perception of non-functional quality on a product that are perceive through senses. All together those aspects and the harmony between them reflect the producer’s ability to control product parameters and thereby also mirror the functional quality of the product. High Perceived Quality cannot be added to the product at the end of the developing process. Project prerequisites, system solution, factory capability etc. are criterion to succeed. Therefore, it is important to be able to evaluate Perceived Quality early in the process when product system solutions and architecture are defined, although data maturity is low. This paper presents a comprehensive framework to manage and support evaluation of Perceived Quality aspects in a product development process. The framework is based on an industrial process in combination with recent research within the field. The framework focuses on activities that can be performed at different stages in the developing process based on maturity of the CAD or styling data. For example, if the styling data is divided into different components by split-lines it has reached higher level of maturity then styling data that not has been divided. Consequently, the choice of applied method is based on data maturity, regardless phase in the developing process. The framework contains methods based on several different simulation and analysis techniques. Design methods, Computer-Aided Tolerancing and FEA based non-rigid variation simulation are represented in the framework.

Software birthmark is a unique quality of software to detect software theft. Comparing birthmarks of software can tell us whether a program or software is a copy of another. Software theft and piracy are rapidly increasing problems of copying, stealing, and misusing the software without proper permission, as mentioned in the desired license agreement. The estimation of birthmark can play a key role in understanding the effectiveness of a birthmark. In this paper, a new technique is presented to evaluate and estimate software birthmark based on the two most sought-after properties of birthmarks, that is, credibility and resilience. For this purpose, the concept of soft computing such as probabilistic and fuzzy computing has been taken into account and fuzzy logic is used to estimate properties of birthmark. The proposed fuzzy rule based technique is validated through a case study and the results show that the technique is successful in assessing the specified properties of the birthmark, its resilience and credibility. This, in turn, shows how much effort will be required to detect the originality of the software based on its birthmark.

In this paper, an integrated system of SAS/ESP is proposed to improve vehicle handling performance and stability. The 15DOF vehicle model which describes the dynamics of the integrated system is established. A fuzzy logic control strategy is presented to control the integrated system. The simulation results show that the integrated control system can obviously improve vehicle maneuverability and ride quality much more than the individual control.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the labor discipline of production personnel when performing maintenance (maintenance) of cars. The research was conducted in Perm on the basis of a typical car service, which is an official dealer of the domestic car brand. The results of comparing the manufacturer’s MAINTENANCE technology and the actions of performers (locksmiths) are presented. Deficiencies in the work of production personnel were found and analyzed. Recommendations have been developed to improve the organization of work, increase the level of motivation of employees. The electric power system, as an integrated system for transmission, distribution and consumption of electricity, is one of the most complex technical and economic systems today. Customers affect on the voltage quality of power network, but the network also has an impact on customers. All disturbances in the network can disrupt operation of the network and affect on operation of the customers, as well as reduce the level of efficiency and operation life or even seriously damage network. Number of customers is increasing every day, as well as proportion of customers who generate disturbances in the network and, at the same time, are sensitive to them. These circumstances impose the need for frequent monitoring of the network, so the analysis of power quality is not unjustified cost but extremely important and profitable investment. The quality of electricity, as part of the overall quality supply of electricity customers in deregulated conditions of liberal electricity market becomes significant regulatory parameter for network operators and a significant contracting parameter on the electricity market. Network operators are obliged to establish a system of individual measurements and a system of permanent monitoring of power quality parameters to determine the state and improve the parameters to the standardized level. Technical parameters are determined by the recommendations made at the international level and may, but do not need, be legally binding. Maintaining a certain level of voltage quality at some point of the network is the responsibility of electricity distributor. This task distributor executes by limiting of negative effects of producer/customer to the network. Therefore, each electricity producer/customer is obliged to reduce own negative feedback effects (injection of higher harmonics, taking of reactive power, emissions of flickers and loads unbalances) to a prescribed, prearranged, limited values. There are many norms that describe the quality of electricity, but in Europe the best known is EN50160 (issued by CENLEC). This paper presents the approach to measuring the voltage quality at the point of electricity delivery from distributed source into distribution network from the aspect of limiting the negative feedback of distributed source on the voltage quality.
