In clinical practice, it is recommended to employ reusable electrodes for the registration of brain waves. Before registering EEG signals, the EEG technician checks the condition of all the electrodes, i.e., the occurrence of mechanical damage and the color of the electrode coating. It should be noticed that there is still no information on the permissible number of EEG examinations performed with one set of electrodes. After placement of the electrodes on the patient’s head, the scalp–electrode impedance is measured with the use of EEG equipment. When the scalp–electrode impedance achieves a value above 5 kΩ, it is necessary to replace the given electrode or to re-execute skin abrasion. The Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method was used in order to estimate the permissible number of EEG examinations performed with one set of electrodes. Ten new reusable electrodes were tested. Then, the tests were repeated after subsequent uses of those electrodes. The conducted tests led us to the conclusion that the permissible number of examinations performed with one set of electrodes is up to twenty except for the gold electrodes for which it is up to ten. Furthermore, the use of the EIS method revealed variability of impedance in the case of new electrodes.

Статья посвящена проблеме восстановления искусственно прерванной метафизической традиции в отечественной персонологии. Данная проблема принадлежит областям истории психологии и психологии личности, но имеет выходы и в предметные области многих других психологических наук, в частности – клинической психологии. Указана важность соотнесения персонологических концептуализаций учёных-метафизиков с клинической практикой в процессе их опытной верификации. Проведена реконструкция и анализ взглядов на психопатологию и психотерапию представителей метафизической традиции в отечественной психологии личности. Согласно данным взглядам, суть патологии личности – в её уклонении от своего назначения, от подлинного бытия ради неподлинных, онтологически неоправданных форм жизнедеятельности. The article is devoted to the problem of restoration of artificialy interrupted metaphysical tradition in domestic personology. The given problem belongs to the areas of history of psychology and psychology of personality, but provides outcomes in subject matter of many other psychological sciences, in clinical psychology in particular. Importance of correlation between personological conceptualizations of scientists-metaphysicists and clinical practice in the process of their skilled verification is pointed out. The reconstruction and analysis of views at psychopathology and psychotherapy by representatives of metaphysical tradition in domestic psychology of personality have been made. According to the mentioned views, the essence of pathology of personality is in its evasion from the purpose, from original life for the sake of not original, ontologically unjustified forms of ability to live.

<p>Sulfidic sodium ion conductors are currently investigated for the possible use in all-solid-state sodium ion batteries. The design of high performing electrolytes in terms of temperature-dependent ionic transport is based upon the fundamental understanding of structure – transport relationships within the given structural phase boundaries inherent to the investigated materials class. In this work, the Na<sup>+</sup> superionic structural family of Na<sub>11</sub>Sn<sub>2</sub>PS<sub>12</sub> is explored by using the systematic antimony substitution with phosphorous in Na<sub>11+<i>x</i></sub>Sn<sub>2+<i>x</i></sub>(Sb<sub>1-<i>y</i></sub>P<i><sub>y</sub></i>)<sub>1-<i>x</i></sub>S<sub>12</sub>. A combination of Rietveld refinements against X-ray synchrotron diffraction data with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is used to monitor the changes in the anionic framework, the Na<sup>+</sup> substructure and the ionic transport. A new simplified descriptor for the average Na<sup>+</sup> diffusion pathways, the average Na<sup>+</sup> polyhedral volume is introduced, which is used to correlate the contraction of the overall lattice and the found activation barriers in the system. This study exemplifies how substitution affects diffusion pathways in ionic conductors and widens the knowledge about the related structural motifs and their influence on the ionic transport in this novel class of ionic conductors.</p>

Background: Learning clinical practice in a hospital is one of the learning methods used to provide competent nurse assistance. Students who first underwent clinical learning has a level of preparedness that different from each other. Objective: This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the readiness of School of Health Sciences Panti Rapih students to take part in learning the first practice of clinical nursing. Methods: The research was a quantitative analytic survey research using cross sectional approach. The population in the study were students of Nursing Diploma Study Program in School of Health Sciences Panti Rapih Yogyakarta. The sample in this study were all second semester students of Nursing Diploma Study Program at School of Health Sciences Panti Rapih Yogyakarta, who were still active and fulfilled the requirements to attend nursing clinical practice. The research instruments was prepared and developed by researchers and have been tested for validity and reliability with the results of all valid and reliable measuring tools. Results: The first physical readiness of students in learning clinical nursing practice was moderate readiness with 59 respondents (60.8%). Mental psychological readiness of students in attending the first clinical nursing practice learning that states ready as many as 54 respondents (55.7%). Material readiness of students in attending nursing clinical practice learning the first 97 respondents (100%) said they were ready. There is a correlation between physical preparation with mental-psychological readiness with low correlation with a Correlation Coefficient value of 0.273 and a significance value of p = 0.007. There is aminimum correlation between physical preparation and material readiness with a Correlation Coefficient of 0.137 and a significance value of p = 0.187. There is no correlation between mental psychological preparation with material readiness with a Correlation Coefficient value of 0.142 and a significance value of p = 0.16. There is a correlation between age and mental-psychological readiness with a low correlation level with a Correlation Coefficient of 0.302 and a significance value of p = 0.003. Conclusion: Research data on physical readiness, psychological mental readiness and material readiness show that more than 50% of respondents are ready. The results of the analysis show that the first factor influencing students in learning clinical nursing practice is age with a value of p = 0.003 then physical preparation with a value of p = 0.007.     Keywords: readiness, clinical learning, students

Bone turnover markers (BTMs) are useful in clinical practice as they are inexpensive, and they have proven useful for treatment monitoring and identification of poor adherence. BTMs cannot be used in individual patients for identifying accelerated bone loss or an increase in fracture risk or in deciding on the optimal therapy. They are useful for monitoring both anti-resorptive and anabolic treatment. Response can be defined as a result that exceeds an absolute target, or by a change greater than the least significant change; if such a response is not present, then poor compliance or secondary osteoporosis are likely causes. A baseline BTM measurement is not always made; in that case, a value of BTM on anti-resorptive treatment that is low or low normal or above the reference interval for anabolic therapy may be taken to indicate a satisfactory response. We provide an approach to using these bone turnover markers in clinical practice by describing algorithms for anti-resorptive and anabolic therapy and describing the changes we observe in the clinical practice setting.

The work is based on Quality Records, episode parsing using Ontologies and Hidden Markov Models.

AbstractWith the advent of high-frequency ultrasound (US) transducers, new perspectives have been opened in evaluating millimetric and submillimetric nerves that, despite their dimensions, can be considered relevant in clinical practice. In the posterior triangle of the neck, the suprascapular, long thoracic, phrenic, supraclavicular, great auricular, lesser occipital, and transverse cervical nerves are amenable to US examination and the object of special interest because they may be involved in many pathologic processes or have a value as targets of advanced therapeutic procedures. The correct identification of these nerves requires a deep knowledge of local neck anatomy and the use of a complex landmarks-based approach with US. This article describes the anatomy and US technique to examine small but clinically relevant nerves of the posterior triangle of the neck (excluding the brachial plexus), reviewing the main pathologic conditions in which they may be involved.

Lithium-ion batteries have found various modern applications due to their high energy density, long cycle life, and low self-discharge. However, increased use of these batteries has been accompanied by an increase in safety concerns, such as spontaneous fires or explosions due to impact or indentation. Mechanical damage to a battery cell is often enough reason to discard it. However, if an Electric Vehicle is involved in a crash, there is no means to visually inspect all the cells inside a pack, sometimes consisting of thousands of cells. Furthermore, there is no documented report on how mechanical damage may change the electrical response of a cell, which in turn can be used to detect damaged cells by the battery management system (BMS). In this research, we investigated the effects of mechanical deformation on electrical responses of Lithium-ion cells to understand what parameters in electrical response can be used to detect damage where cells cannot be visually inspected. We used charge-discharge cycling data, capacity fade measurement, and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) in combination with advanced modeling techniques. Our results indicate that many cell parameters may remain unchanged under moderate indentation, which makes detection of a damaged cell a challenging task for the battery pack and BMS designers.

This study aims to classify the scene and object using brain waves signal. The dataset captured by the electroencephalograph (EEG) device by placing the electrodes on scalp to measure brain signals are used. Using captured EEG dataset, classifying the scene and object by decoding the changes in the EEG signals. In this study, independent component analysis, event-related potentials, and grand mean are used to analyze the signal. Machine learning algorithms such as decision tree, random forest, and support vector machine are used to classify the data. This technique is useful in forensic as well as in artificial intelligence for developing future technology.

Aim and background Pathological proof of malignant in biliary strictures is useful in the preoperative setting as it helps define therapeutic planning and prognosis, and reduces the length of the subsequent surgical intervention. However, it is difficult to obtain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield of histological and cytological examination of endobiliary samples obtained during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Methods Endobiliary forceps biopsy and brush cytology were performed during ERCP examination in 52 consecutive patients, 36 with malignant and 16 with benign strictures. Results Histology and cytology turned out to have the same sensitivity (53%). The gain in sensitivity achieved by combining the two techniques was limited, reaching a value of 61%. The specificity, however, was 100% for both methods. Most of the few complications observed were due to sphincterotomy and subsided spontaneously or with medical treatment. However, one patient experienced a serious complication and chose to be treated by surgical intervention. The complication was caused by forceps biopsy. Conclusions This study shows that 1) sampling of biliary strictures during ERCP is the primary approach to tissue diagnosis; 2) brush cytology alone is sufficient in clinical practice; 3) forceps biopsy must always be used to sample intra-ampullary strictures but should be considered as a secondary step to sample strictures located more proximally, in the bile ducts, if previous cytology was negative.
