We have studied the very large amount of literary works written by the Italian mystic Maria Valtorta to assess similarities and differences in her writings, because she claims that most of them are due to mystical visions. We have used mathematical and statistical tools developed for specifically studying deep linguistic aspects of texts. The general trend indicates that the literary works explicitly attributable to Maria Valtorta differ significantly from her other literary works, which she claims are attributable to the alleged characters Jesus and Mary. Mathematically, they seem to have been written by different authors. The comparison with the Italian literature is very striking. A single author, namely Maria Valtorta, seems to be able to write texts so diverse as to cover the entire mathematical range (suitably defined) of the Italian literature spanning seven centuries.

We have studied Jesus Christ’s speeches contained in The Gospel as revealed to me by Maria Valtorta to assess: (i) similarities and differences of the speeches delivered to diverse audiences, through deep-language statistics; (ii) duration of the speeches delivered in different occasions; (iii) whether the setting of the speeches is realistic. Mathematically, the speeches can be divided into two sets: (a) two apparently well-planned and coordinated series of speeches delivered at “Clear Water” and at the Horns of Hattin (Sermon of the Mountain); (b) extempore speeches delivered in many localities (parables, speeches to people or to disciples, in Synagogues, at the Temple). By converting sequences of words into intervals, through a suitable reading/speaking speed, the speeches’ durations were found to be realistic. The setting of the speeches allows the assessment of the likelihood of the places and occasions for delivering them. Maria Valtorta wrote extraordinary speeches that she attributed to the alleged Jesus of Nazareth. In addition to their theological and doctrinal contents (whose study is far beyond the scope of this paper), the speeches are so realistic in whatever mathematical parameter, or setting, we study them, that she is either a great literary author, or—as she claims—an attentive “eyewitness” of what she reports.

Imagology is a branch of comparative literature which explores the image of one nation in the literature of another nation. One Thousand Nights and One Night is among the important books which can show the image of different nations and people such as Indians, Iranians and Arabs. Since the oldest version of the book is in Arabic, it is considered an Arabic literary work though it was translated from a Persian tale in the first place. On this basis the study of the image of Iranians in One Thousand Nights and One Night can be included under the definition of imagology. In this article, first we explain, analyze and study the image of Iranians in the book One Thousand Nights and One Night with respect to 1. anthropology (including entertainments, personification of animals, disapprobation of lies and betrayal of spouses), 2. religious and mythical beliefs (including the belief in daevas and jinnis, magic, fire-worshipping and similar plots), 3. politics (emphasizing the position of vizier and his family in government), 4. economics (emphasizing economic prosperity), then we will compare the collected information with the image of Iranians in credited works and in this way we will identify the similarities and differences of Iranians’ image in One Thousand Nights and One Night and the above-said literary works. Finally we come to this conclusion that the similarities belong to the real image of Iranians in the pre-Islamic days and that differences show the image of post-Islamic Iran which is added through Arabic translation.

Literary works are never separated from previous works or other texts. “Aku Dipenogoro!” is a literary work in the form of a drama script written by Landung Simatupang which was inspired by the power of divination by Peter Carey. The process of forming a literary work based on the acceptance of the past works can be said to be a reception. Therefore, this study used a reception approach to see how far the acceptance of previous works in Aku Dipenogoro!. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. In this case, the researcher compares the texts by looking at the similarities and differences. Furthermore, the findings are described. Based on the results of the analysis conducted by Aku Dipenogoro! as a literary work made several changes from the previous work (Peter Carey's Power of Prediction). These changes are used to give a dramatic effect in the work. Improvisation is used to get certain effects and aesthetics in a work. As a drama script Aku Dipenogoro! refers to dramatic effects in the performing arts (theater).

Qualitative content analysis is the most common method to compare advertisements cross-culturally or cross-generationally. However, quantitative methods, such as chi-square or Fisher tests, can also be used. In this paper, we introduce results for Fisher tests, seriation and single-value decomposition that prove useful in determining similarities and differences in cultural appeals in advertising.

Literary works in this era of progress have been very developed. The creation of literary works is usually influenced by the literary works that preceded it. The literary work that precedes is used as an example or role model for later literary works. Two or more literary works with the same theme have similarities and differences. Similarities and differences in several literary works can be analyzed using the principle of intertextuality. This principle is intended to examine texts that are considered to have a certain relationship with other texts so that it is possible for a work to become a hypogram for subsequent literary works. In this study the author chose the title " Intertextual Study of the Novel Cinta Bertabur Di Langit Mekkah by Roidah and Novel Asmara Di Atas Haram  by Zulkifli L. Muchdi with a Sociological Approach ". Based on the object studied, this study aims to describe: (1) the structure of Roidah's novel Cinta Bertabur Di Langit Mekkah (CBM) and novel Asmara Di Atas Haram (ADH) by Zulkifli L. Muchdi, (2) similarities and differences in the novel Cinta Bertabur Di Langit Mekkah (CBM) by Roidah and novel Asmara Di Atas Haram (ADH) by Zulkifli L. Muchdi, (3) Intertextual relations between Roidah's novel Cinta Bertabur Di Langit Mekkah (CBM) and Zulkifli L. Muchdi's novel Asmara Di Atas Haram (ADH, and (4) sociological aspects of novel Cinta Bertabur Di Langit Mekkah (CBM) by Roidah and novel Asmara Di Atas Haram  (ADH) by Zulkifli L. Muchdi. The method used is descriptive analysis method. The results obtained in the research are intrinsic elements of the novel, similarities and differences between the two novels, intertextual relations and sociological aspects which include social aspects, religious aspects, economic aspects, and love aspects.

The Malay and Minangkabau people are those who like to speech and act on literature. This can be seen through the existence of several genres of literary works from those ethnic, ranging from the form of saga, tale, and legend. Among them are Hang Tuah and Cindua Mato saga. Hang Tuah saga grew and developed in Malay society, while Cindua Mato saga grew and developed in Minangkabau society. Both sagasare interesting to be studied as an analytical study. First, Hang Tuah and Cindua Mato saga is a great literary work owned by both ethnic groups. As a masterpiece, they both have an appeal to be analyzed in many ways. Secondly, Hang Tuah and Cindua Mato figures by both ethnic communities have become a big myth. Hang Tuah became myth by the Malay community as a brave and loyal figure to the king. So did with the figure of Cindua Mato who became myth by Minangkabau society as a brave and loyal figure to the king. As with other literary works, Hang Tuah and Cindua Mato saga contains the aesthetic, moral, and cultural elements of their owners. It is as stated by Taum that oral literature has an aesthetic effect and moral context as well as a particular society culture. This research analyzed and examined the cultural similarities and differences (characters) in Hang Tuah and Cindua Mato saga. This study is expected to produce the same perception of both sagas. Likewise, the possibility of a kinship element exists between ethnic Malay and Minangkabau.

The article considers irony as a conceptual category of the literary text, that contains author's assessment in the implicit form. The ironic meaning as an integral component of the literary text is an evaluative and emotional way to represent the author's worldview and values. The means of expressing irony in N.V. Gogol's works of different genres (epos, lyrico-epic genre and drama) are determined. The similarities and differences in the author's use of irony expression means in the poem Dead Souls, series of tales Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka, Mirgorod, Petersburg Tales, comedy The Inspector General within the author's ironic character description are determined. The article concludes that genre peculiarities of literary works affect the author's choice of certain means of irony expression. It is not typical of the author to use phraseological units as irony explicators in the genre of the tale; however, these linguistic means frequently verbalize ironical meaning in the drama genre – the comedy The Inspector General. The use of such textual means as author's retreats and comments is not typical due to high plot dynamism and dialogization of the author's narrative being characteristic genre features of the comedy. The article considers the means of irony expression in the author's character description. It is shown that irony is manifested both in the characters' and the author's speech and is aimed at assessing the characters' personality and behavior.

The literary works that appear are not necessarily the work of the Authors, but they have read previous literary works. This study aims to determine intertextuality by looking at the similarities and differences in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 2 by Habiburrahman El Shirazy with the novel Kidung Shalawat Zaki and Zulfa by Taufiqurrahman Al Azizy using a qualitative descriptive method. Intertextuality plays a role in seeing a work that can be the basis for the creation of another work. The data sources of this research are Novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 2 by Habiburrahman El Shirazy published in 2007 and Kidung Shalawat Zaki and Zulfa by Taufiqurrahman Al Azizy in 2010. This research shows that intertextual occurs in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 2 by Habiburrahman El Shirazy with Song Shalawat Zaki and Zulfa by Taufiqurrahman Al Azizy because the theme, plot, setting, and message tend to be the same. The intertextuality of these two novels also has differences as the creativity of their respective authors. The research of these two novels can be deepened further so that the intertextual relationship between the two becomes clearer.
