This essay attempts to approach the dharma talks of Korean Seon Master Daehaeng (1927–2012) from a modern scientific perspective. In particular, it tries to articulate depth psychological elements which belong to or which are relevant in some way to her dharma talks. In so doing, it will attend to the content of her magnum opus, Hanmaum Yeojeon (The Principle of One Mind), which was compiled from her extensive dharma talks. This essay articulates that she could be regarded in contemporary Korean Buddhism as a pioneer, the author of the first works which can be only understood properly if one’s point of departure is the kind of meaning revealing depth psychological elements.

This article deals with company welfare and social work ethics. If social work is concerned with welfare and distributional issues, we would assume company welfare to be an issue of great relevance to social workers, so why do we not come across any social workers in our fieldwork? This calls for the simple question “where do social workers work?” or rather “how come social workers do not work in private companies?” We explore into the combination of social work and private companies with special reference to social work ethics to discuss private companies as a job arena for social workers. We argue that in a sector aiming at profit, social workers may trigger employees enthusiasm, but employer scepticism. However, by avoiding a less stereotyped notion of private companies, company welfare and social work we claim that certain social work ethical principles would be of joint interest to the involved, but more so in certain contexts than in others. The article consists of six sections. After the introduction, we take a closer look at company welfare followed by a section on social work where we focus on ethical principles and work arenas for social workers. In section four we present our data from some private companies in Norway and Tanzania as a point of departure to our discussion in section five on private companies as a potential job arena for social workers. The complexity of company welfare does not call for simple answers. In the conclusions, section six, we therefore argue that the ethical principles of social work make it an interesting and relevant competence in managing company welfare, though not unproblematic in the homeland of profit. However, contextual complexity invites contextual responses.

Indian writing in English has created special niche in the heart of the readers from all over the world. There are noticeable writers who have effectively portrayed India with variety of subjects and issues in their books. Sudha Murthy is one of the most prolific writers in India who has written both in Kannad and English. Being a visionary, she has voiced out many issues related to feminine sensibility. Mahashweta by Sudha Murthy is magnum opus where the protagonist Anupama’s journey has been depicted with gray sheds of life. However, Sudha Murthy has celebrated the true essence of womanhood where Anupama courageously fights against all odd situations and ultimately emerged as a powerful self-reliant individual.

Pastoral care to the marginalized with special reference to orphanaged children The plight of the marginalised was the point of departure for this research, with special emphasis on orphan boys. The specific circumstances under which the child was removed from his negative circumstances, his past, his adoption in the children’s home and the special needs and problems he has in the children’s home are explored. In this article, Biblical principles for the care of orphanaged children were generated and specific attention was given to God’s emphasis on and passion for the marginalised – with special reference to orphanaged children. Attention is given to the Biblical mandate, respon- sibility and command to the church to be involved in the lives of orphanaged children. Conclusions are derived from the lite- rature study as well as from a limited phenomenological study which was done through analyses of questionnaires designed to address the research hypotheses. It is hoped that reasons for the lack of interest in and involvement with orphanaged children will be revealed.

Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures affords a point of departure for the discussion of the osmotic of colloidal solutions. The observed osmotic pressure of a solution of a protein such as hæmoglobin is essentially a property of the protein system as a whole, and a knowledge of the partial pressures of the various components is of service in a systematic study of the properties of the solution. It will be shown that many of the difficulties in the interpretation of such systems can be overcome by the application of Dalton's Law in the form used by Gibbs.

This paper endeavors to promote research intothe under-explored field of mental tropes byinvestigating the translatability of twointriguing types: the active participle and thepassive participle. These two types have beenexamined with special reference to the Qur’an. Aclose-reading-of-parallel-texts method has beenused. The method involves the selection ofQur’anic texts and their correspondingtranslations in conjunction with a host ofQur’an-related authentic exegeses as to providea point of departure for the ensuing discussion.Analysis mainly reveals two distinct cases of syntactic twisting and semantic exclusivity: thefirst is where the active participle is found toserve the function and give the meaning of thepassive participle, and the second is where thepassive participle is found to serve thefunction and give the meaning of the activeparticiple. The study also shows thattranslation incommensurabilities (Kuhn, 1962) atthe syntactic, semantic, pragmatic, rhetorical, and exegetical levels are very much in evidencein the selected translations, which may precludea translation from assuming a trusted authority. Finally, the study proposes a tenabletranslation procedure to deal with Qur’anicmental tropes, viz. the communicative-exegetictranslation. Keywords: translatability, mental tropes, active andpassive participles, syntactic twisting, semantic exclusivity, communicative-exegetictranslation.
