The technologies of the Anthropocene are based upon Modern certainties. These technologies of a reductive and productive model of science create the worlds in which we live, in the image of a particular human being: the modern, western anthropos (with its raced, sexed, and gendered body). This article explores some of the technologies of the Anthropocene, and the environmental and social problems they give rise to. Finally, this article argues for the development of multiple planetary technologies based in uncertainty about the planetary future, that open humans onto more just and ecologically sound possibilities for planetary becoming.

The paper off ers an attempt to read the works of M. Bazhan focusing on the evolving motive of hope. It is stated that this motive has its cultural and historical scope and practical content. Presently the experience of hope becomes energy of progress and cultural creation. Hope is energized by active work and nourishes work, art, science, creativity. The methods of overcoming despair in Bazhan’s poetry have been updated over the course of decades in connection with the changes in perception of the social role of poetry. Although initially the comprehension of integrity was seen in the stream of the class struggle, later the poet preferred healing the soul with art. The philosophy of the author of the “Hoff man’s Night” was not contemplative; it was focused on existential and social problems and directed by humanistic values. It is no coincidence that the poet chose the least irrational of the three main Christian virtues, the most earthly and human one – the hope. Instead, most poets at all times cultivated predominantly faith and love. This fact might explain why Bazhan’s poetry never gained vast popularity but constantly attracted attention of critics and scholars. The author’s path from despair and fear to hope is the path from the local, psychological, individual to the universal, social, and philosophical. The continual motive of hope gives some unexpected coloring to a seemingly trivial Enlightenment-like picture of the future. The concepts of progress are being filled with drama and dynamics. Existential problems proved to be much more important than the ideal future projects. The sources and plan of the progress are contained not in the objective laws of the history, but exclusively in a human being, permanently fighting in the darkness and chaos. From this point of view, Bazhan is not a representative of the Soviet-style Marxism. In fact, his worldview is rather in tune with E. Bloch’s neo-Marxism or J.-P. Sartre’s existentialism.

The purpose of this paper is to emphasise the importance of social vision of Islam in formulating Islamic education. It has been assumed that due to the negligence of social dimension of Islam, most of the contemporary Islamic educational institutions are incapable of enabling the younger generation to look at the historical context of their lived reality more critically. Consequently, majority of the Muslims are not bothered about several concrete human social problems such as inequality, economic exploitation and fragmentation of the community into different classes and groups. To solve this issue, the article suggests incorporation of social dimension of Islam in the educational curricula. Since the Quran portrays human being as a social being by highlighting his various responsibilities in this world, one of the guiding principles of Islamic education should be to make Muslims capable of understanding the world for making it more just and better. Only then would Muslims be able to make a link between knowledge and action.

The article comprises an academic reflection on linguistic methods of self-presentation, used on regional television in Arkhangelsk. The material was collected in 2018 when the centre was celebrating its 55th anniversary. Moreover, earlier research in television broadcast in the north of Russia was taken into account. Editorial self-presentation is conducted in different ways. It embraces articles published on the website of the radio station and anniversary materials broadcasted on-air which later are uploaded on the web as podcasts.  Self-presentation is also created by the image of the radio station reconstituted thanks to agenda, daily news feeds from 2018, examined in the context of sources from 2001-2018. Linguistic analysis is the affirmation of the medium’s form which is listener-oriented. What is more, within last few years the growth of axiological dimension was observed (for instance: religious magazines). Some website as well as on-air statements provide a persuasive step in order to create positive self-presentation. The radio station is seemed to be modern, professional and familiar with every human being, who is interested in social problems.
