Childhood obesity is a worldwide health emergency. In many cases, it is directly linked to inappropriate eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. During lockdown aimed at containing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread, children have been forced to stay at home. The present study aimed at investigating the lifestyles of outpatients (aged 5–17 years) with complicated obesity enrolled in the day-hospital food education program at the Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome. A survey was performed based on a structured questionnaire, investigating dietary habits and lifestyles. The questionnaire answers were rated as “yes/no/sometimes” or “often/never/sometimes”. Eighty-eight families correctly completed the questionnaire between March and May 2020. The results highlighted that 85.2% (N = 75) of the patients ate breakfast regularly, and 64.3% (N = 72) consumed fruit as an afternoon snack. However, 21.6% (N = 19) did just “often” home workouts, and 50.0% (N = 44) reported an increase of feeling hungry with “sometimes” frequency. There is a significant relationship of feeling hungry with gender (p < 0.0001) and age (p = 0.048) and, also, between gender with having breakfast (p = 0.020) and cooking (p = 0.006). Living a healthy lifestyle during lockdown was difficult for the outpatients, mainly due to the increase in a sedentary lifestyle and the increase in feeling hungry, but some healthy eating habits were maintained, as advised during the food education program provided before lockdown.

University is a critical stage of life in which students are more likely to engage in unhealthy health behaviors such as physical inactivity, stress, and bad dietary habits. Health-promoting behaviors are an important component of a healthy lifestyle and have been reported as a key factor in sustaining and improving one's health. This study aimed to determine the healthy and unhealthy lifestyles of students in KPK universities by gender and location. In total, 384 university students took part in the study, with 200 authentic and fully completed questionnaires used to determine the overall sample. Data was gathered from six universities in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Males made up the majority of participants (109, 54.2 percent), while females made up the rest (91, 45.3 percent). The findings revealed that the causes had a significant effect on the health of university students. Adherence to guidelines for physical activity and healthy eating habits was found to be insufficient among students.

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in substantial lifestyle changes. No US study has identified predictors of perceived dietary healthfulness changes during the pandemic period. This study included analyses of lifestyle and dietary healthfulness changes using 958 survey responses from US primary household food purchasers. Information was collected related to demographics, COVID-19-related household changes, and health-related habits before and during the pandemic. Binary logistic regression identified predictors of perceived increase in dietary healthfulness during the pandemic period. Overall, 59.8%, 16.4%, and 23.4% of participants reported that their eating habits likely changed, may have changed, and likely did not change, respectively. Of the participants whose dietary habits likely or may have changed, 64.1%, 16.8%, and 19% reported healthier, neither healthier nor less healthy, and less healthy eating habits, respectively. COVID-19-related income loss, more meals consumed with household members in front of the television, an increase in food advertisement exposure, increased perceived stress, and better perceived current health were significant predictors of a perceived increase in dietary healthfulness. Overall, dietary habits were perceived to become healthier during the pandemic. The predictors of perceived improvement in dietary healthfulness were surprising and indicate the need for further study of these factors in crisis and noncrisis situations.

Experiences with food preferences begin in infancy and continue to develop on children transition to solid food. Children’s food preferences are influenced by availability and familiarity with foods as well as parental modeling and health related picture books. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether picture-books regarding healthy lifestyle can influence children’s eating preferences. A questionnaire related to the use of picture-books at home and lifestyle habits was distributed to all parents. Picture-books were provided to all parents. At the same time children were allocated in two groups: the intervention group, which took part in further activities (cooking), and to a comparison group. Interviews were addressed to the parents after the program. The ethical concern included confidentiality assurance and the choice to withdraw. Findings revealed that the daily reading of books about food was increased in both groups. Most of the families of the intervention group reduced fast food and sweet consumption and increased outdoor activities. Background: Mental illness is one of the fastest rising threats to public health, of which depression and anxiety disorders are increasing the most. Research shows that diet is associated with depressive symptoms or depression (depression). Aim: This study aimed to investigate the diets impact on depression, by reviewing the scientific evidence for prevention and treatment interventions. Method: A systematic review was conducted, and narrative synthesis analysis was performed. Result: Twenty scientific articles were included in this review. The result showed that high adherence to dietary recommendations; avoiding processed foods; intake of anti-inflammatory diet; magnesium and folic acid; various fatty acids; and fish consumption had a depression. Public health professionals that work to support and motivate healthy eating habits may help prevent and treat depression based on the evidence presented in the results of this study. Further research is needed to strengthen a causal relationship and define evidence-based strategies to implement in prevention and treatment by public healthcare.

Abstract Background Lifestyle modification is recommended for subjects with trace proteinuria during health checkups. However, whether overall healthy lifestyle reduces the incidence of trace/positive proteinuria or rapid decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is not clarified. Methods A total of 451 534 people (277 494 men and 174 040 women) ages 20–79 years with negative proteinuria were included. The number of three healthy lifestyle factors (LFs) was assessed: noncurrent smoking, healthy eating habits (late dinner, snacking and skipping breakfast &lt;3 times/week) and body mass index &lt;25. The incidence of trace (±) and positive (≥1+) proteinuria by the dipstick method and eGFR decline ≥20% over 2 years were compared with the number of healthy LFs. Results The incidence of trace/positive proteinuria and rapid eGFR decline decreased with an increasing number of healthy LFs as follows: odds ratios (ORs) for trace proteinuria, 0.91 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.86–0.96], 0.82 (0.78–0.87) and 0.72 (0.68–0.77); ORs for positive proteinuria, 0.76 (95% CI 0.67–0.86), 0.56 (0.50–0.63) and 0.46 (0.40–0.53); and ORs for an eGFR decline ≥20%, 0.93 (95% CI 0.82–1.05), 0.90 (0.79–1.02) and 0.81 (0.70–0.93) for those with one, two and three healthy LFs compared with those with none of the three healthy LFs, respectively. Overall, subjects with a healthy lifestyle showed 28, 54 and 19% reduced risk of developing trace proteinuria, positive proteinuria and eGFR decline ≥20%, respectively, compared with those with an unhealthy lifestyle after 2 years. This association was similarly observed even among subjects without hypertension (HT) or diabetes mellitus (DM). Conclusions Subjects with an overall healthy lifestyle showed a lower incidence of trace/positive proteinuria by dipstick test and rapid eGFR decline over 2 years in a nationwide general population. Thus lifestyle modification should be recommended for subjects with trace proteinuria during health checkups, even for subjects without HT or DM.

Abstract Background Nutrition is a critical part of health and development. Better nutrition is related to improvement of child health, stronger immune systems, and lower risk of non-communicable diseases. Objectives the study aimed to describe knowledge, attitude and practice of sixth grade, primary school students about healthy eating habits and healthy diet and to implement and assess a nutrition education program for healthy eating habits and healthy diet. Participants and Tools An interventional study was conducted in one governmental primary school in Giza governorate and included 120 sixth grade students. The health education program was divided into three stages: Pre-intervention stage in which the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of students about healthy and unhealthy dietary habits was assessed. Then educational program was implemented and (KAP) of students was re-assessed again twice after the education session immediately and then two months later. Results Most of the children (69.6%) had fair nutrition knowledge, (23.2%) had good knowledge, while (7.2%) had poor knowledge. After the intervention, there was an improvement in nutrition knowledge score of participated students (p &lt; 0.05) and this change was maintained after 2 months of the intervention. The total mean score percentage was (68% ± 9.8%) before intervention and had improved after 2 months of the intervention than before. The attitude of participated students had improved after intervention in relation to the concept that eating a lot of fat can make one become obese and eating a lot of sugar and sweets is harmful for health (p &lt; 0.001) The practice had improved among the study participants after 2 months of the intervention than before intervention (80.1% ± 5.1 vs. 68.5 ± 9.8%). Conclusion School nutrition intervention programs can have a great impact on knowledge and behavior of primary school students especially if various methods of teaching and learning were applied.

BackgroundOverweight and obesity have increased rapidly in incidence to become a global issue today. Overweight and obesity problems are significantly linked to unhealthy dietary patterns, physical inactivity and misperception of body image. This study aimed to determine whether Malaysian children build healthy eating habits from childhood.MethodsA survey on eating habits was conducted among primary school students in standards 4 to 6 in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. The findings of the study were reported in the form of descriptive statistics involving frequencies and percentages. Data from 400 respondents were analyzed.ResultsOur findings showed that the students understood the definition of healthy food and the types of food that are considered healthy. Although the students knew that food such as deep-fried drumsticks and hamburgers contain a high amount of saturated fat and cholesterol, these foods were still consumed by them. There was also a high consumption of foods that are fried and contain sugar, salt and saturated fat. In choosing food, two major factors contributed to the students’ decisions: cleanliness (65.8%) and the preference of their parents (12.3%).DiscussionOur findings indicate that by implementing the Integrated School Health Program (ISHP) properly, students’ eating habits can be improved by creating a school with a healthy environment.

Ayurveda is a science of vast knowledge of Ahar, Vihar and Prakriti. In this modern era due to stress, lifestyle changes, eating habits and many psychological and environmental factors are responsible for premature greying of hair. The present cross-sectional survey study was planned to know about etiological factors of Palitya in youth and the prevalence of Prakriti also. Total 500 patients of premature canities fulfilling the criteria of inclusion as per GSS1 were selected from O.P.D. of department Rog Nidana and Vikriti Vigyana, National Institute of Ayurved, Jaipur. A structured questionnaire will be administered to each subject of Nidanatmaka survey to collect data on Prakriti, Socio-demographic profile, Dietary patterns and other Ayurvedic variables. Results: Max. 37% have Akala bhojana,36.4% having Vishmagni,35 and 32% habituated to Katu and Lavan Rasa,42% consuming Amla Rasa, and max.36.4% were having Vata -Pitta Prakriti. Overall, it was observed that in youth diet, dietary habits were prone to vitiate Pitta dosha. especially in the Pitta Prakriti persons. The faulty dietary habits like Vishamashana, Adhyashana, Ajeernashana, Amla-Lavana Rasa Atisevana can accelerate the process of greying hair. Keywords: Premature canities, Prakriti

This publication analyses and discusses the aspects of healthy lifestyle implementation competence in the personal life of students and future teachers, viewing it as a potential contribution to their professional career. The correlation of internal factors such as students' attitudes, knowledge, skills and abilities and influence of external factors of social environment are analysed as healthy lifestyle competence. The empirical study focuses on two priority healthy lifestyle components –physical activity and the development of healthy eating habits in relation to the conditions provided by a higher education microsystem formulating a proposal for improving the interaction of these factors. For achieving the research goal, emerging teachers have been surveyed using the methodology developed by Corbin et al. (2008). For statistical analysis of the research data, the SPSS 22.0 program was employed: a method of descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Kendall's tau-b correlation test. The results of this study prove the differences in competence indicators in relation to the respondents’ age and chosen specialization, as well as show the lack of support from professional management and medical staff for implementation of a healthy lifestyle.
