Our objective in this review article is to find out relevant information about methods of determination of antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles. There are many studies dealing with mentioned problem and herein we summarize the knowledge about methods evaluating the antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles reported so far. Many authors declare better antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles compared to the extract used for synthesis of them. In this review, we focused on methods of antioxidant activity determination in detail to find out novel and perspective techniques to solve the general problems associated with the determination of antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles.

Free radicals have an important role in food and in chemical material degradation, contributing to the occurrence of many human health problems, but the antioxidants can considerably delay or prevent the oxidation of easily oxidable substrates. The present research aimed to assess the antioxidant activity, expressed by the presence of polyphenols, flavonols, flavones, anthocyanidins and flavanols, in several Romanian and Cypriot wines. The wine phenolics content was analysed by high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) Shimadzu equipped with two chromatographic columns. Higher concentrations were registered in all red wines. The antioxidant activity quantification was carried out by the DPPH method, a simple and cheap approach based on the absorbance decrease determination of the DPPH radical (2,2-diphenyl- 1- picrylhydrazyl) in the presence of antioxidants. The highest antioxidant activity for white wines was determined at ‘Spouriko’ for Cypriot wine from 2013 (EC 50 = 1/38) while for Romanian wines, the highest value was found in a ‘Tămâioasă românească’ (EC50 = 1/58) and for red wines at ‘Maratheftiko’ wine from 2012 (EC50 = 1/680) and in ‘Fetească Neagră’ wine from 2014 (EC50 =1/590). This study provides relevant information to consumers and industry alike regarding the beneficial role wine plays for human health. It also can act as a baseline for choosing a certain product, according to its sanogenic potential.

The Hydrophile-Lipophile-Balance (HLB) numbers were evaluated on the basis of three different, commonly used methods of determination and calculation, in a series of lauric, resp. stearic acids and lauryl alcohol oxyethylenation products prepared by an alkali-catalyzed reaction in a similar scale of hydrophobe: ethylene oxide molar ratios. The results showed that, due to the different principles of the used methods, the HLB numbers were obtained with a great variance, limiting their use as parameters for estimation of the application effectiveness of non-ionic surfactants of the polyoxyethylene type. The HLB concept was not found able to consider the complicated composition of the studied types of surfactants and to provide relevant information in the already mentioned sense.

The research about study of content phenolic and antioxidant activity extract ethanol tempeh gembus of a variety of incubation has been done. This study aims to know the time of incubation and time extraction that produced levels of the total phenolic and the best antioxidant activity. Determination of total phenolic using the method of folin-ciocalteu and antioxidant activity using the method DPPH. The achievement of goals be done through the application of the treatment of the time of incubation and time extraction of level of phenolic and antioxidant activity. The influence of the time of incubation is applied five levels of 0 hours; 12 hours; 24 hours; 36 hours and 48 hours. While the influence of time extraction is 1 hours, 1.5 hours, 2 hours, 2.5 hours, and 3 hours. From the result obtained by the incubation is at the time of incubation 36 hours which resulted in levels of total phenolic of 7.75 % and the value of IC50 0f 1098.88 µg/mL. The use of time extraction is 1,5 hours that produces levels of total phenolic of 5.26 % and the value of IC50 of 1198.95 µg/mL.Keyword: tempeh gembus, total phenolic, antioxidant activity, time of incubation, time extraction
