Nabbaren nepheline syenite, a silica-deficient intrusive rock with low Fe content, was the industrial mineral deposit study case in this study. The quality of industrial mineral products are generally based on their bulk chemistry, which are directly related to their modal mineralogy and mineral chemistry; however, these are costly and time-consuming to determine. A geometallurgical-based methodology, known as element-to-mineral conversion (EMC), was applied to estimate its modal mineralogy based on its given bulk and mineral chemistry. EMC is a convenient and cost-effective technique, which can be used to quickly estimate modal mineralogy. Two EMC methodologies were applied: one least square based, LS-XRD, and one regression based, R-XRD. Additionally, average and specific mineral chemistries were used during estimations. The R-XRD method, a method not yet used for EMC purposes, gave better modal mineralogy estimations than LS-XRD. Considering the restrictions in the method, R-XRD shows potential for improvement and implementation at operational scale, making it a valuable geometallurgical tool for increasing resource performance, easing decision-taking processes, and reducing risks. The use of different mineral chemistries did not influence the modal mineralogy estimation, unlike the method used for it.

Brand extension is an important cost-effective marketing method to offer new products. However, ordinary Least Square regression with control variables has been applied for estimation of variable coefficients. In the study, consumer evaluation of brand extension in Pakistan is dependent on quality of the original brand, substitutability of the extension with the original brand in certain usage situation and helpfulness of people, facilities and skills used in developing, refining and making the original brand for constructing its extension. Furthermore, other independent variables including complementarity, difficulty and moderating the role of quality of the original brand with fit attributes has been found irrelevant for determining consumer evaluation of brand extension in Pakistan. The author has found an expected significant outcome on the ideal point effect of substitutability at 15%.

Objectives Flow cytometry (FC) is becoming increasingly popular among veterinary oncologists for the diagnosis of lymphoma or leukaemia. It is accurate, fast and minimally invasive. Several studies of FC have been carried out in canine oncology and applied with great results, whereas there is limited knowledge and use of this technique in feline patients. This is mainly owing to the high prevalence of intra-abdominal lymphomas in this species and the difficulty associated with the diagnostic procedures needed to collect the sample. The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether any pre-analytical factor might affect the quality of suspected feline lymphoma samples for FC analysis. Methods Ninety-seven consecutive samples of suspected feline lymphoma were retrospectively selected from the authors’ institution’s FC database. The referring veterinarians were contacted and interviewed about several different variables, including signalment, appearance of the lesion, features of the sampling procedure and the experience of veterinarians performing the sampling. Statistical analyses were performed to assess the possible influence of these variables on the cellularity of the samples and the likelihood of it being finally processed for FC. Results Sample cellularity is a major factor in the likelihood of the sample being processed. Moreover, sample cellularity was significantly influenced by the needle size, with 21 G needles providing the highest cellularity. Notably, the sample cellularity and the likelihood of being processed did not vary between peripheral and intra-abdominal lesions. Approximately half of the cats required pharmacological restraint. Side effects were reported in one case only (transient swelling after peripheral lymph node sampling). Conclusions and relevance FC can be safely applied to cases of suspected feline lymphomas, including intra-abdominal lesions. A 21 G needle should be preferred for sampling. This study provides the basis for the increased use of this minimally invasive, fast and cost-effective technique in feline medicine.

Ferritic stainless steels have been widely used as solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) metallic interconnects. However, the evaporation of Cr2O3 might migrate to and poison the cathode, leading to degradation of the cell performance. In this work, Ni-P-Fe2O3 composite coating was deposited on the ferritic stainless steel by means of a cost-effective technique of electroless method. They are expected to be converted into (Ni,Fe)3O4 spinel with a high electrical conductivity and CTE match with stainless steel, which can hinder the evaporation of Cr2O3 formed on steel substrate exposed to the cathode environment of the SOFC. The effects of Fe2O3 contents, pH and temperature of solution on the deposition rate and Fe contents of the Ni-P- Fe2O3 composite coatings were investigated. The results indicated that the effects of Fe2O3 contents and pH of solution on deposition rate was not obvious and the deposition rate increased with increasing temperature. They had obvious influences on the Fe contents in the coating. The suitable deposition conditions are as below: the Fe2O3 content , pH and temperature was 16 g/L, 8.5 and 65 , respectively. The coatings consisted of Ni, Fe , P and O.

Rank aggregation is applied on the web to build various applications like meta-search engines, consumer reviews classification, and recommender systems. Meta-searching is the generation of a single list from a collection of the results produced by multiple search engines, together using a rank aggregation technique. It is an efficient and cost-effective technique to retrieve quality results from the internet. The quality of results produced by a meta-searching relies upon the efficiency of rank aggregation technique applied. An effective rank aggregation technique assigns the rank to a document that is closest to all its previous rankings. The newly generated list of documents may be evaluated by the measurement of Spearman footrule distance. In this article, various fuzzy logic techniques for rank aggregation are analyzed and further improvements are proposed in Modified Shimura technique. Consequently, two novel OWA operators are suggested for the calculation of membership values of document ranks in a modified Shimura technique. The performance of proposed improvements is evaluated on the Spearman footrule distance along with execution time. The results show that the anticipated improvements exhibit better performance than other fuzzy techniques.

Aggregation of amyloid beeta 1-42 (Aβ42) peptide causes the formation of clustered deposits knows as amyloid plaques in the brain which leads to neuronal dysfunction and memory loss and associated with many neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Aβ42 has core structural motif with phenylalanine at the 19 and 20 positions. The diphenylalanine (FF) residue plays a crucial role in the formation of amyloid fibers and serves as model peptide for studying Aβ42 aggregation. FF self-assembles to well-ordered tubular morphology via aromatic pi-pi stackings. Our studies, suggest that the aromatic rings present in the anti-amyloidogenic compounds may interact with the pi-pi stacking interactions present in the FF. Even the compounds which do not have aromatic rings, like cyclodextrin and cucurbituril show anti-amyloid property due to the binding of aromatic ring inside the guest cavity. Hence, our studies also suggest that compounds which may have a functional moiety capable of interacting with the aromatic stacking interactions might be tested for their anti-amyloidogenic properties. Further, in this manuscript, we have proposed two novel nanoparticle based assays for the rapid screening of amyloid inhibitors. In the first assay, interaction between biotin-tagged FF peptide and the streptavidin labelled gold nanoparticles (s-AuNPs) were used. In another assay, thiol-Au interactions were used to develop an assay for detection of amyloid inhibitors. It is envisaged that the proposed analytical method will provide a simple, facile and cost effective technique for the screening of amyloid inhibitors and may be of immense practical implications to find the therapeutic remedies for the diseases associated with the protein aggregation.

Growth in telecom infrastructure and provision of modern telecom services to consumers at a cost based tariff helps growth of national economy. Modern telecoms serve as the engine of growth of national economy. Following the global trends of liberalisation and deregulation in telecoms monopolies which have thus far been providing inefficient communication at a greedily high tariffs are falling apart. Mergers in telecoms are not for increasing the size of the monopoly but to provide more efficient and cost effective services to the consumers. In Pakistan the erstwhile T&T department played a needful role at its time. Conversion of the department into a corporation and then into a company were steps necessary for following the global trends. Need now is to continue this trend further, eliminate the monopolistic approach by allowing more players in the field thus permitting the market forces to decide the provision of better quality of modern services at competitive price.
