The delaying mechanism is an important part of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) devices. However, very few mechanical delaying mechanisms are available. In this paper, an elastic-beam delaying mechanism has been proposed innovatively through establishing a three-dimensional model of an elastic-beam delay mechanism, establishing the force and the parameters of an elastic-beam delay mechanism, deriving the mathematical model according to the rigid dynamic mechanics theory, establishing the finite element model by using Ls-dyna solver of the Ansys software, and carrying out the centrifugal test. Simulation and test results match theoretical results quite well. It is believed that the elastic-beam delaying mechanism is quite effective and useful to slow the speed of the movable part in MEMS devices.

In this paper, a mechanical MEMS S&A device has been proposed. The size of the device is 10mm×13mm×0.5mm. The role of the threshold value judging mechanism is to determine the environment suffered by centrifugal force and control the sub-centrifugal slider not movement under the threshold, so as to effectively guarantee the time of long-distance arming. Through establishing the three-dimensional model of threshold value judging mechanism, establishing the force and the parameters of locking-releasing mechanism, deriving the mathematical model according to the rigid dynamic mechanics theory and establishing the finite element model by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA, appropriate threshold value judging mechanism is designed to meet two items, one item is the deformation of threshold value rod is not enough to release sub-centrifugal slider when the speed is less than 60000r/min; the other item is deformation of threshold value rod can release sub-centrifugal slider when the speed is more than 60000r/min.

Frame of solar sweeper is complexly welded structure with thin steel plate. A three dimensional model of solar sweeper frame was bullied up in CATIA and finite element mesh was finished in Hypermesh. ANSYS program was applied to modal analysis. Connections and constraints of finite element model(FEM) would be modified through a comparison with modal testing results. It shows that analysis results of distributing tendency and concrete value ranges are coincident well with test results, the max and min error is 1.54% and 8.15% separately. From the results, it could be concluded that accurate dynamic response can be gained based on modified FEM.

In this paper, a mechanical MEMS S&A device has been proposed. The size of the device is 10mm×13mm×0.5mm. The role of the lock-releasing mechanism is to amplify the moving distance of two times, so as to effectively guarantee the time of long-distance arming. Through establishing the three-dimensional model of without optimized lock-releasing mechanism, establishing the force and the parameters of locking-releasing mechanism, deriving the mathematical model according to the rigid dynamic mechanics theory and establishing the finite element model by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA, appropriate lock-releasing mechanism is designed to meet two items, one item is that the lock-releasing rod locks the main centrifugal slider before sub-centrifugal slider movement in place; the other item is that sub-centrifugal slider will hit the lock-releasing rod when it movement in place, so the lock-releasing rod rotates around rotational positioning block and releases the main centrifugal slider.

Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) are miniturized devices that can sense the environment, process and analyze information, and respond with a variety of mechanical and electrical actuators. MEMS consists of mechanical elements, sensors, actuators, electrical and electronics devices on a common silicon substrate. Micro-electro-mechanical systems are becoming a vital technology for modern society. Some of the advantages of MEMS devices are: very small size, very low power consumption, low cost, easy to integrate into systems or modify, small thermal constant, high resistance to vibration, shock and radiation, batch fabricated in large arrays, improved thermal expansion tolerance. MEMS technology is increasingly penetrating into our lives and improving quality of life, similar to what we experienced in the microelectronics revolution. Commercial opportunities for MEMS are rapidly growing in broad application areas, including biomedical, telecommunication, security, entertainment, aerospace, and more in both the consumer and industrial sectors on a global scale. As a breakthrough technology, MEMS is building synergy between previously unrelated fields such as biology and microelectronics. Many new MEMS and nanotechnology applications will emerge, expanding beyond that which is currently identified or known. MEMS are definitely technology for 21st century.

SNCR (Selective Non Catalytic Reduction) system is proposed, with 40% methylamine aqueous solution as reducing agent to reduce NOx in diesel exhaust gas. The effect of injection position and volume on the reduction efficiency through the test bench is systematically researched. A three-dimensional model of a full-sized diesel SNCR system generated by CFD software FIRE is used to investigate the reduction efficiency under different temperatures. The simulated results have a good agreement with the test results, and it can be used to optimize SNCR system. The results can indicate the practical application of this technology.

Based the CAE technology, the paper introduced the application of Moldflow Insight in injection mold design of mobile phone cover. First, we must preprocess the finite element model, including importing three-dimensional model, meshing, and process setting. And then, we can use preliminary simulation analysis to determine the number and location of the gate. Finally to filling, cooling, packing and warpage analysis for part which can help us to find the causes from warpage generated. By optimizing the molding process parameters, adjusting the dwell pressure and the dwell time we can get less warpage, which can meet the precision demand of parts, consequently, the result can provide gist for the mold designers to design and for the injection molding technologist to process parameter adjustment.

In order to study a new reinforcement method for multilayer (4 layers) industrial building’s vibration, firstly, a new reinforcement method using a short-pier shear wall was put forward. Secondly, an engineering example of a multilayer industrial building with abnormal vibration was introduced. A three-dimensional finite element model of multilayer industrial building was established, and field vibration test was carried out. Test results showed that abnormal vibration of industrial building was caused by resonance between machines and multilayer industrial building. Finally, multilayer industrial building was reinforced by a new reinforcement method, and vibration experiment was carried out after reinforcement. The results show that the new reinforcement method has a good reinforcement effect. Strength and stiffness of multilayer industrial building were obviously improved, and natural frequency of industrial building in the length direction increased from 2.45 Hz to 5.87 Hz, natural frequency of industrial building in the width direction increased from 2.94 Hz to 7.83 Hz, frequencies of machines and frequencies of multilayer industrial building were not in resonance range, acceleration and velocity vibration characteristics of multilayer industrial building were improved, which can provide reference for the reinforcement of multilayer industrial building with a similar structural configuration.

The results of the investigation of the turning kinematics of the steerable wheels of the KrAZ-7634NE off-road vehicle with a wheel formula 8x8 and two front steer axles are given. The theoretical relations between the steer angles of the steerable wheels on the basis of the scheme of double-axle steering turning of the vehicle are shown. The mathematical model of flat four-bar vehicle steering linkage is developed, it determines the relation between the steering linkage left and right steering arms turning angles at any turning radius of the vehicle. KrAZ-7634HE steering three-dimensional model was created and simulation technique of its work was carried out using Creo software. It has been shown that the flat steering linkage model provides sufficient accuracy of calculations in analysis of turning kinematics. The design data can be used for any vehicles that have a similar steering linkage, they allow to analyze the impact of the vehicle design parameters on the turning kinematics and optimize them. Further study of the impact of the kingpin inclinations on the steering linkage kinematic and power characteristics are required.

In this study the main causes of the failure of a GE-F9 second stage turbine blade were investigated. The stress distribution of the blade which has 6 cooling vents in three modes (with full cooling, closure of half of the cooling channels, and without cooling) was studied. A three dimensional model of the blade was built and the fluid flow on the blade was studied using the FVM method. The stress distribution due to centrifugal forces applied to the blade, temperature gradients and aerodynamic forces on the blade surface was calculated by the finite element model. The results show that the highest temperature gradient and as a result the highest stress value occurs for the semi-cooling state at the areas near the blade root and this status is true for the full cooling mode for the regions far from the root. However, the field observations showed that the failure occurred for the blade with the semi-cooling state (due to closure of some of the channels) at areas far from the root. It is discussed that the main factor of the failure is not the stress values being maximum because in the state of full cooling mode (the state with the maximum stress values) the temperature of the blade is the lowest state and as a result the material properties of the blade show a better resistance to phenomena like hot corrosion and creep.

In order to machine multiple sculptured surfaces with reduced machining time and high accuracy of the machined parts, shape design of a customised multi-point rotary cutting tool needs to be evolved. In the present work, a novel design of a generic multi-profile form milling cutter is developed for machining various multiple sculptured surfaces. This article describes in detail the mathematical model to design an accurate three-dimensional geometry of a generic multi-profile form milling cutter. Use of non-uniform rational B-spline curve(s) and sweep surfaces enables to control the shape of cutting flutes of the generic multi-profile form milling cutter. The article also discusses the methodology to develop a variety of cutters lying in the same conceptual family of multi-profile form milling cutter. To physically visualise the cutter and to show one of the downstream applications once a three-dimensional model of the cutter is available, one of the multi-profile form milling cutters is fabricated. The proposed methodology offers an intuitive high-quality mathematical model for a generic family of multi-profile form milling cutters, which is different from the traditional three-dimensional models.
