In this paper, we elaborate on theoretical and methodological considerations for designing a sequence of tasks for introducing middle and high school students to functions and their graphs. In particular, we present didactical activities with an artifact realized within a dynamic interactive environment and having the semiotic potential for embedding mathematical meanings of covariation of independent and dependent variables. After laying down the theoretical grounds, we formulate the design principles that emerged as the result of bringing the theory into a dialogue with the didactical aims. Finally, we present a teaching sequence, designed and implemented on the basis of the design principles and we show how students’ efforts in describing and manipulating the different graphs of functions can promote their production of specific signs that can progressively evolve towards mathematical meanings.

The domain of motion or kinematics is important because it forms the basis of mechanics, an important branch of physics. By studying kinematic phenomena in the laboratory, high school students are likely to develop a better understanding of kinematics concepts as well as elements of the scientific approach to study natural and constructed phenomena. However, students encounter difficulties in understanding these concepts, just as in the acquisition of the skills necessary for the accomplishment of the different stages of an experimental process. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to provide guidance, according to a historical approach, which would inform teachers in the design of teaching sequences on the study of kinematics. Keywords: conceptual understanding, high school physics education, historical approach, kinematics.

Statement of the problem. Often, due to the lack of knowledge about the world of professions, the divergent influence of the family, school and the media in matters of professional identification, the lack of high-quality professional information, the lack of practical experience in professional activities, high school graduates cannot accurately determine the stages of further education, that is, build an individual educational route of professional identification. To increase the efficiency of the process of professional identification of a high school graduate, assistance is required not only in choosing a profession, but also in finding resources to develop and implement an adequate educational and professional scenario, as well as in training in the independent use of these resources. Today’s digital technologies are of help. The purpose of the article is to present (reveal) the capabilities of the digital educational and methodological complex “School skills. Pro Professions” in the work on vocational guidance and professional identification of high school students in an interactive environment. The methodological basis of the study includes the works by E.A. Klimov, N.S. Pryazhnikov, S.N. Chistyakova and other Russian and foreign researchers (S. Fukuyama, J. Golland, E. Bern). Professional identification of a person is defined as a conscious process of building a personal professional plan when choosing a profession on the basis of analysis, assessment of the internal resources of the subject of choice, correlation with the requirements of the profession, as well as the readiness of the person for professional choice. Professional identification is connected with the formation of components of the psychological system of professional formation and realization of personality on the basis of knowledge/self-knowledge and assessment/self-assessment of social and professional requirements, conditions of professionalization and individual capabilities of the subject of work. Research results. The article reveals the possibilities of the digital educational and methodological complex “School skills. Pro Profession” in the work on vocational guidance and professional identification of high school students in an interactive environment. Digital Educational and Methodological Complex (DEMC) is presented as a structured set of educational tools, electronic normative and educational documentation, a set of electronic educational resources, information and communication technology tools and automated systems containing interconnected content and intended for joint use by participants for effective training in programmes for the development of soft skills, as well as studying up educational subjects, courses, disciplines on professional identification in the context of digital transformation of the educational process. Conclusions. The introduction of information technologies in such a field of development of high school students as a choice of a future profession creates conditions for strengthening the integration of educational and subject areas with extracurricular practice, additional education, strengthening the specialized training of schoolchildren on the basis of variability of programmes, taking into account their interests, inclinations, abilities and demands of the labour market, gaining practical experience for a reasonable choice of a training profile, which ensures the effectiveness of high school students building an individual route of professional identification.

Teaching in high schools needs specific techniques, methods and skills in order to motivate the students (Ss) properly. In this study, the aim was to explore the effect of humor on students' grammar performance and their motivation. The study was designed as true-experimental research-randomized control experimental group, pre-test, post-test design. The participants were second grade high school students (120 students) in four classes. So, the researcher gave them a Nelson test in order to homogenize them. Out of 120 Ss, only 60 Ss who could get 50% percent of score were selected. Then, the Ss randomly were assigned one member of each pair to the experimental group and the other to the control group containing 30 Ss male in each cause-effect relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Then, the data analysis was done by SPSS version 21. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the gained scores in the groups, namely experimental group in comparison to the control group. A questionnaire was also given to the participants to gather their opinions about humor and its effect on their motivation. The finding showed that a large number of students agree of using humor, because it is enjoyable and motivator. It can be concluded that there is significance relationship between using humor and the Ss grammar performance, and their motivations. . Then, through giving the treatment and placebo to the experimental and control groups, respectively, the researcher tried to observe the direct

Health education as a school subject and community awareness program has been gaining importance in many countries. Understanding the nature of the health concept is vital for planning the health education curricula and programs. Using a sample of 996 eighth, tenth, and twelfth grade, male and female, rural and urban, Jordanian high school students, differential perceptions of health concept were investigated by means of free word associations and definitions tests. Concurrent validity was established between the two measures. Both the tests yielded eleven categories each defining a different perspective of health concept. Category means were determined and the relative importance of each perceived aspect of health was discussed. Treating the eleven category scores as dependent variables and area, sex, and grade as independent variables, data were analyzed by MANOVA. The results showed some interesting interaction effects highlighting the differential perceptions of the health concept among various area gender and grade defined groups of students. Findings have implications for designing health education curricula.

The article is part of a larger research, this being the starting point in order to see the efficiency of some activities that are already in development, similarly to those that we are about to suggest in a series of activities packages for free time activities for high school students, that come to meet the problems they are dealing with, but also to support the teachers who have more and more the opportunity (obligation) to make projects for extracurricular activities. The case study presented analyses the level of wellbeing and health of high school students, members of the National Organisation of Romanian Scouts, Local Centre Târgu-Mureș, named within the association Explorers. We present the activities they have and we follow the dependent variables through a questionnaire.

This paper reports on a study in which incidental English vocabulary learning from three mobile modes (book, e-book and e-book with user modelling and adaptive vocabulary learning support) was investigated. The study employed a crossover design to test for vocabulary gain from reading three simplified English novels among a group of Japanese high school students, learning English as a second language. Small vocabulary gains were noted; however there was no significant difference between the modes in this respect. Participants also gave their reactions to using the three modes. The authors reflect on some possible reasons for the results, and identify some methodological considerations.
