The Maslov form is a closed form for a Lagrangian submanifold of C m , and it is a conformal form if and only if M satisfies the equality case of a natural inequality between the norm of the mean curvature and the scalar curvature, and it happens if and only if the second fundamental form satisfies a certain relation. In a previous paper we presented a natural inequality between the norm of the mean curvature and the scalar curvature of slant submanifolds of generalized Sasakian space forms, characterizing the equality case by certain expression of the second fundamental form. In this paper, first, we present an adapted form for slant submanifolds of a generalized Sasakian space form, similar to the Maslov form, that is always closed. And, in the equality case, we studied under which circumstances the given closed form is also conformal.

The biwarped product submanifolds generalize the class of product submanifolds and are particular case of multiply warped product submanifolds. The present paper studies the biwarped product submanifolds of the type S T × ψ 1 S ⊥ × ψ 2 S θ in Sasakian space forms S ¯ c , where S T , S ⊥ , and S θ are the invariant, anti-invariant, and pointwise slant submanifolds of S ¯ c . Some characterizing inequalities for the existence of such type of submanifolds are proved; besides these inequalities, we also estimated the norm of the second fundamental form.

In this study, we attain some existence characterizations for warped product pointwise semi slant submanifolds in the setting of Sasakian space forms. Moreover, we investigate the estimation for the squared norm of the second fundamental form and further discuss the case of equality. By the application of attained estimation, we obtain some classifications of these warped product submanifolds in terms of Ricci soliton and Ricci curvature. Further, the formula for Dirichlet energy of involved warping function is derived. A nontrivial example of such warped product submanifolds is also constructed. Throughout the paper, we will use the following acronyms: “WP” for warped product, “WF” for warping function, “AC” for almost contact, and “WP-PSS” for the warped product pointwise semi slant.

In this paper some characterizations for the existence of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of cosymplectic space forms are obtained. Moreover, a sharp estimate for the squared norm of the second fundamental form is investigated, the equality case is also discussed. By the application of derived inequality, we compute an expression for Dirichlet energy of the involved warping function. Finally, we also proved some classifications for these warped product submanifolds in terms of Ricci solitons and Ricci curvature. A non-trivial example of these warped product submanifolds is provided.

Abstract. For an isotropic submanifold Mn (n ≧ 3) of a space form of constant sectional curvature c, we show that if the mean curvature vector of Mn is parallel and the sectional curvature K of Mn satisfies some inequality, then the second fundamental form of Mn in is parallel and our manifold Mn is a space form.

It is known from [K. Yano and M. Kon, Structures on Manifolds (World Scientific, 1984)] that the integration of the Laplacian of a smooth function defined on a compact orientable Riemannian manifold without boundary vanishes with respect to the volume element. In this paper, we find out the some potential applications of this notion, and study the concept of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds in cosymplectic manifolds as a generalization of contact CR-warped product submanifolds. Then, we prove the existence of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds by their characterizations, and give an example supporting to this idea. Further, we obtain an interesting inequality in terms of the second fundamental form and the scalar curvature using Gauss equation and then, derive some applications of it with considering the equality case. We provide many trivial results for the warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds in cosymplectic space forms in various mathematical and physical terms such as Hessian, Hamiltonian and kinetic energy, and generalize the triviality results for contact CR-warped products as well.

Certain twisted product CR-submanifolds in a K?hler manifold and some inequalities of the second fundamental form of these submanifolds are presented ([14]). Then the length of the second fundamental form of a twisted product CR-submanifold in a locally conformal K?hler manifold is considered (2013), ([15]). In this paper, we consider the relation of the mean curvature and the length of the second fundamental form in two twisted product CR-submanifolds in a locally conformal K?hler space forms.

Chen (2001) initiated the study of CR-warped product submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds and established a general inequality between an intrinsic invariant (the warping function) and an extrinsic invariant (second fundamental form). In this paper, we establish a relationship for the squared norm of the second fundamental form (an extrinsic invariant) of warped product bi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds in terms of the warping function (an intrinsic invariant) and bi-slant angles. The equality case is also considered. Some applications of derived inequality are given.

By using the integral method, we prove a rigidity theorem for spacelike self-shrinkers in pseudo-Euclidean space under a minor growth condition in terms of the mean curvature and the second fundamental form, which generalizes Theorem 1.1 in [H. Q. Liu and Y. L. Xin, Some Results on Space-Like Self-Shrinkers, Acta Math. Sin. (Engl. Ser.) 32(1) (2016) 69–82].

AbstractWe study self-expanding solutions $M^{m}\subset \mathbb {R}^{n}$ M m ⊂ ℝ n of the mean curvature flow. One of our main results is, that complete mean convex self-expanding hypersurfaces are products of self-expanding curves and flat subspaces, if and only if the function |A|2/|H|2 attains a local maximum, where A denotes the second fundamental form and H the mean curvature vector of M. If the principal normal ξ = H/|H| is parallel in the normal bundle, then a similar result holds in higher codimension for the function |Aξ|2/|H|2, where Aξ is the second fundamental form with respect to ξ. As a corollary we obtain that complete mean convex self-expanders attain strictly positive scalar curvature, if they are smoothly asymptotic to cones of non-negative scalar curvature. In particular, in dimension 2 any mean convex self-expander that is asymptotic to a cone must be strictly convex.

Let M be a connected surface immersed in a Euclidean m-space Em. Let h be the second fundamental form of this immersion it is a certain symmetric bilinear mapping for X ∈ M, where Tx is the tangent space and the normal space of M at x. Let H be the mean curvature vector of M in Em. If there exists a real λ such that for all tangent vectors X, Y in Tx, then ilf is said to be pseudo-umbilical at x.
