In this study, it is aimed to make improvements on blended brick (1) which is the first building material has a history of at least 10,000 years. To the blended brick which is a traditional material was kept constant at 5% the addition of fly ash which is industrial waste. It was aim of determine of the effect on the physical and mechanical properties of the blended brick using different ratios (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) blast furnace slag. In the first stage, the production of fly ash-based blast furnace slag doped sample of blended brick was performed. In the second stage, a variety of experiments were applied to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the blended brick sample. As a result; It has been determined that unit volume weight and compressive strength decreases with the use of industrial wastes in blended brick production. They have occured an increase in porosity and capillary water absorption values. The use of industrial wastes in the production of blended bricks will contribute both improve the properties of the bricks and   the reduction of wastes left to the environment.

The influence of the deflocculant of the Russian company Polyplast-UralSib LLC on the properties of the groove and selfdissolving masses for lining the working surfaces of thermal units is considered. It was found that when a deflocculant is introduced into the refractory concrete masses in an amount of 2.0 wt. % satisfactory workability of the mass and the required physical and mechanical properties of concrete after firing at 1000 and 1400 °C are ensured compared to the introduction of imported deflocculants ADW / ADS and SioxX / Siox-Quick. It is shown that the gutter concrete obtained using the Russian deflocculant has higher strength than concrete with an imported deflocculant, including 0.5 wt. % ADW1 and 0.5 wt. % ADS3. Petrographic analysis revealed equal resistance of the trench concrete to the effects of blast furnace slag when using Russian additives and imported SioxX and Siox-Quick in the amount of 2,0 and 0,5 wt. % as deflocculants respectively. ABSTRAKJauhnya lokasi batching plant dengan tempat penuangan kerapkali membuat beton setting sehingga dibutuhkan bahan tambah retarder. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) memiliki komposisi kimia mirip semen. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian penambahan retarder pada beton dengan substitusi GGBFS sebagai pengganti sebagian semen untuk mengetahui pengaruh (dengan uji regresi SPSS),  sifat  fisik  dan  mekanik  beton,  serta  mendapatkan kadar  optimum penambahan retarder. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan variasi campuran 90% semen, 10% GGBFS dengan retarder 0%, 0,2%, 0,4%, dan 0,6% berat semen dengan fas 0,5 sesuai SNI 03-2834-2000. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan retarder 0,2% - 0,6% mampu meningkatkan kuat tekan sebesar 19,61 - 50,59%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kadar optimum 0,2% karena memiliki sifat paling baik.Kata kunci: GGBFS, kuat tekan, retarder ABSTRACTLong distance between batching plant to the pouring area often causes the concrete undergo a setting, so that a retarder addition material is needed. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) which has a chemical composition similar to cement. Therefore, a research was conducted on retarder addition to concrete with GGBFS substitution as a partial cement substitute to obtain the effect (regression analysis method in SPSS), physical and mechanical properties of concrete, and to obtain the optimum level of retarder addition. This research used an experimental method with a mixture variation of 90% cement, 10% GGBFS with retarder percentage as follows; 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.6% of cement weight with a water/cement is 0.5 according to SNI 03-2834-2000. The results of research with the addition of a retarder of 0.2% - 0.6% were able to increase the compressive strength by 19.61 - 50.59%. Based on the results, the optimum level of retarder is at a variation of 0.2% as it has the best physical and mechanical properties.Keywords: GGBFS, compressive strength, retarder

Constructors and researchers have been concerned about carbonation because it has been a concern of the concrete by decreasing the interstitial solution's pH, it may encourage the reinforcement material deposition for reinforced concrete and subsequent corrosion. The use of geopolymeric materials, such as Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), is one of the factors that affect carbonation. This study explores the effects of replacement 0, 20, 40, and 60% from cement mass by GGBS on the physical and mechanical properties in particular, the carbonation of concrete. According to the results, it was observed that the higher the percentage of cement replacement with GGBS, the lower the carbonization depth, as the best result was achieved at the replacement ratio of 60%. As for the compressive strength, it increases with an increase in the proportion of cement replacement with GGBS. Moreover, the addition of GGBS reduced the water absorption.
