An essential element of any industry is castings, which is determined by the technical conditions for their reception. However, conducting production in the foundry technology is burdened with many difficulties associated with, for example, the inability to control all of the parameters that may affect the casting quality. Therefore, it is essential to undertake improvement actions in this area. Efforts are being made to use non-destructive testing (NDT) as a part of quality control, but these methods are rarely combined in a single diagnostic run. As a part of quality improvement, it is also essential to identify the root cause of the problem. For this reason, it is justified to develop a model of diagnosing and searching for non-conformities, which would combine NDT tests and quality management tools. The model included the visual, ultrasound, and eddy current examination in the diagnostic part, and the Pareto–Lorenz diagram correlated with ABC method, histogram, and 5WHY method (asking five questions why). The study’s originality is manifested in the combination of several NDT methods with quality management methods in one model. Using integrally configured methods in the proposed model, it was possible to: reduce diagnostic uncertainty, characterize the critical group of non-conformities, and identify the root causes of the quality problem. The model is a new and universal method that can be implied in any foundry company in order to ensure the stability of the production processes. The application of the model contributes to an increase in the detection speed and enables the reduction of non-conformities in aluminium castings, thus increasing the quality level of the offered products.

AbstractThe G8D method is one of the methods used in quality management using quality management tools and designed to solve problems occurring in production processes. The method consists of 8 disciplines and ensures the required quality of both production processes and finished products. It may also be applied to the optimization of production processes, while ensuring their safety. In the article, the authors presented the method of using the D4 discipline algorithm of the G8D method allowing to detect the root cause of the problem in the process and to indicate the so-called escape point. The authors presented the course of action for discipline D4 undertaken when the root cause of the problem is to be analysed. The procedure is presented on an exemplary process of the projection welding of a nut.

AbstractThe G8D method is a universal method for solving problems arising in production processes, also used in optimisation of these processes. The method allows the detection and elimination of any drawbacks occurring in manufacturing processes and ensuring the safety of these processes. In the article, the authors have presented one of the sensitive and critical disciplines of the G8D problem solving method in production processes, i.e. discipline D2 - “problem description”. The authors have presented the algorithm of procedure in the discipline D2 as well as the quality management tools that can be used to correctly “describe the problem”. The authors have also discussed the procedure for the discipline D2 in the “problem description” for the case of the projection welding of a nut.

AbstractThe tools for quality management are used for quality improvement throughout the whole Europe and developed countries. Simple statistics are considered one of the most basic methods. The goal was to apply the simple statistical methods to practice and to solve problems by using them. Selected methods are used for processing the list of internal discrepancies within the organization, and for identification of the root cause of the problem and its appropriate solution. Seven basic quality tools are simple graphical tools, but very effective in solving problems related to quality. They are called essential because they are suitable for people with at least basic knowledge in statistics; therefore, they can be used to solve the vast majority of problems.

Abstract Background: The category of world class maintenance is based on methodologies such as Reliability Centered Maintenance, which helps to determine speciic maintenance actions, identifying fails and the procedures for ixing them. Objectives: In this work the design of a framework was proposed to implement management tools for maintenance of cement companies, applying the methodology of the MCC. Method: A descriptive and ield research was developed, in which it was considered as a unit of analysis the National Cement Factory, Plant Tachira in Venezuela. To do this, the data collection technique veriied written evidence and an array of categories was the selected instrument. Result: It was diagnosed that the maintenance management in the company does not consider the basic principles of asset reliability. Conclusions: The stages of application of the tools of reliability were identiied: criticality analysis, analysis of failure modes and effects, and root cause analysis, through compliance three contentive phases in a system involving inputs, processes and results in each phase; to i nally indicate the guidelines in the application of the above-mentioned tools. Palabras Clave: cementera, coniabilidad, herramientas del MCC, Mantenimiento.

The goal of this paper is to find suitable solutions for process optimization using PDCA methodology and quality management tools. It was realized in the company that is oriented on the assembly of key sets, locks and handles. It analyzes chosen assembly processes, their critical points and identifies root causes of problems that might occur during assembly. For this purpose, different quality methods and tools are used. In this paper there are also defined the corrective actions to avoid recurrence of identified problems, implementation of these actions in production process and its standardization.

Quality tools in health service management processesAbstract: This is an integrative review, which sought to verify in the literature the most used quality management tools in Brazilian health services, based on scientific publications from the database of Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), between 2000 and 2019.
