Matching points are the direct data sources of the fundamental matrix, camera parameters, and point cloud calculation. Thus, their uncertainty has a direct influence on the quality of image-based 3D reconstruction and is dependent on the number, accuracy, and distribution of the matching points. This study mainly focuses on the uncertainty of matching point distribution. First, horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP) is used to quantify the feature point distribution in the overlapping region of multiple images. Then, the quantization method is constructed. H D O P ∗ ¯ , the average of 2 × arctan ( H D O P × n 5 − 1 ) / π on all images, is utilized to measure the uncertainty of matching point distribution on 3D reconstruction. Finally, simulated and real scene experiments were performed to describe and verify the rationality of the proposed method. We found that the relationship between H D O P ∗ ¯ and the matching point distribution in this study was consistent with that between matching point distribution and 3D reconstruction. Consequently, it may be a feasible method to predict the quality of 3D reconstruction by calculating the uncertainty of matching point distribution.

To reconstruct point geometry from multiple images, computation of the fundamental matrix is always necessary. With a new optimization criterion, i.e., the re-projective 3D metric geometric distance rather than projective space under RANSAC (Random Sample And Consensus) framework, our method can reveal the quality of the fundamental matrix visually through 3D reconstruction. The geometric distance is the projection error of 3D points to the corresponding image pixel coordinates in metric space. The reasonable visual figures of the reconstructed scenes are shown but only some numerical result were compared, as is standard practice. This criterion can lead to a better 3D reconstruction result especially in 3D metric space. Our experiments validate our new error criterion and the quality of fundamental matrix under the new criterion.

Computing the homography matrix using the known matching points is a key step in computer vision for image registration. In practice, the number, accuracy, and distribution of the known matching points can affect the uncertainty of the homography matrix. This study mainly focuses on the effect of matching point distribution on image registration. First, horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP) is derived to measure the influence of the distribution of known points on fixed point position accuracy on the image. The quantization function, which is the average of the center points’ HDOP* of the overlapping region, is then constructed to measure the uncertainty of matching distribution. Finally, the experiments in the field of image registration are performed to verify the proposed function. We test the consistency of the relationship between the proposed function and the average of symmetric transfer errors. Consequently, the proposed function is appropriate for measuring the uncertainty of matching point distribution on image registration.

Mobile mapping is in the process of becoming a routinely applied standard tool to support administration of cities. For ensuring the usability of the mobile mapping data it is necessary to have a practical method to evaluate the quality of different systems, which reaches beyond 3D accuracy of individual points. Such a method must be objective, easy to implement, and provide quantitative results to be used in tendering processes. We present such an approach which extracts quality figures for point density, point distribution, point cloud planarity, image resolution, and street sign legibility. In its practical application for the mobile mapping campaign of the City of Vienna (Austria) in 2020 the proposed test method proved to fulfill the above requirements. As an additional result, quality figures are reported for the panorama images and point clouds of three different mobile mapping systems.

The registration of ground laser point cloud and close-range image is the key content of high-precision 3D reconstruction of cultural relic object. In view of the requirement of high texture resolution in the field of cultural relic at present, The registration of point cloud and image data in object reconstruction will result in the problem of point cloud to multiple images. In the current commercial software, the two pairs of registration of the two kinds of data are realized by manually dividing point cloud data, manual matching point cloud and image data, manually selecting a two – dimensional point of the same name of the image and the point cloud, and the process not only greatly reduces the working efficiency, but also affects the precision of the registration of the two, and causes the problem of the color point cloud texture joint. In order to solve the above problems, this paper takes the whole object image as the intermediate data, and uses the matching technology to realize the automatic one-to-one correspondence between the point cloud and multiple images. The matching of point cloud center projection reflection intensity image and optical image is applied to realize the automatic matching of the same name feature points, and the Rodrigo matrix spatial similarity transformation model and weight selection iteration are used to realize the automatic registration of the two kinds of data with high accuracy. This method is expected to serve for the high precision and high efficiency automatic 3D reconstruction of cultural relic objects, which has certain scientific research value and practical significance.

The 3D reconstruction of similar 3D objects detected in 2D faces a major issue when it comes to grouping the 2D detections into clusters to be used to reconstruct the individual 3D objects. Simple clustering heuristics fail as soon as similar objects are close. This paper formulates a framework to use the geometric quality of the reconstruction as a hint to do a proper clustering. We present a methodology to solve the resulting combinatorial optimization problem with some simplifications and approximations in order to make it tractable. The proposed method is applied to the reconstruction of 3D traffic signs from their 2D detections to demonstrate its capacity to solve ambiguities.

Abstract. Recently, Garfinkel and Critchley (2013) proposed to distinguish between three facets of interoception: interoceptive sensibility, interoceptive accuracy, and interoceptive awareness. This pilot study investigated how these facets interrelate to each other and whether interoceptive awareness is related to the metacognitive awareness of memory performance. A sample of 24 healthy students completed a heartbeat perception task (HPT) and a memory task. Judgments of confidence were requested for each task. Participants filled in questionnaires assessing interoceptive sensibility, depression, anxiety, and socio-demographic characteristics. The three facets of interoception were found to be uncorrelated and interoceptive awareness was not related to metacognitive awareness of memory performance. Whereas memory performance was significantly related to metamemory awareness, interoceptive accuracy (HPT) and interoceptive awareness were not correlated. Results suggest that future research on interoception should assess all facets of interoception in order to capture the multifaceted quality of the construct.

Objectively and reliably determined indicators of rheological properties of the dough were identified using the alveograph device to create a system of classifications of wheat and flour from it for the intended purpose in the future. The analysis of the relationship of standardized quality indicators, as well as newly developed indicators for identifying them, differentiating the quality of wheat flour for the intended purpose, i.e. for finished products. To do this, we use mathematical statistics methods.
