An exemplary paradigm of how an AI can be a disruptive technological paragon via the utilization of blockchain comes straight from the world of deep learning. Data scientists have long struggled to maintain the quality of a dataset for machine learning by an AI entity. Datasets can be very expensive to purchase, as, depending on both the proper selection of the elements and the homogeneity of the data contained within, constructing and maintaining the integrity of a dataset is difficult. Blockchain as a highly secure storage medium presents a technological quantum leap in maintaining data integrity. Furthermore, blockchain’s immutability constructs a fruitful environment for creating high quality, permanent and growing datasets for deep learning. The combination of AI and blockchain could impact fields like Internet of things (IoT), identity, financial markets, civil governance, smart cities, small communities, supply chains, personalized medicine and other fields, and thereby deliver benefits to many people.

From earliest cities to the present, spatial division into residential zones and neighbourhoods is the universal feature of urban areas. This study explored issue of measuring neighbourhoods through spatial autocorrelation method based on Moran's I index in respect of achieving to best neighbourhoods' model for forming cities smarter. The research carried out by selection of 35 neighbourhoods only within central part of traditional city of Kerman in Iran. The results illustrate, 75% of neighbourhoods' area in the inner city of Kerman had clustered pattern, and it shows reduction in Moran's index is associated with disproportional distribution of density and increasing in Moran's I and Z-score have monotonic relation with more dense areas and clustered pattern. It may be more efficient for urban planner to focus on spatial autocorrelation to foster neighbourhood cohesion rather than emphasis on suburban area. It is recommended characteristics of historic neighbourhoods can be successfully linked to redevelopment plans toward making city smarter, and also people's quality of life can be related to the way that neighbourhoods' patterns are defined.

The present paper investigates the characteristics and best construction strategies of smart cities around the world, as well as the determining factors of the satisfaction of the quality of life and the importance of the value of environmental sustainability. A case study of the city of Kalampaka and its residents was examined. The survey was conducted between July 2016 and August 2016. The selection of the sample was done by using the method of simple selection and includes a random sample of N=150 individuals. Statistical analysis showed that resident’s knowledge about smart cities was fairly good (48% of sample knew the phrase “smart cities”). Furthermore, they believe that the appearance of the city of Kalampaka needs improvement (75% of sample is disappointed with the current appearance of the city). Regression analysis showed that the value of environmental sustainability is greatly influenced by the energy saving, as well as, innovation has an impact on the level of quality of life. Older people seem to be satisfied with administration’s efforts.

The paper presented the methodology for the construction of a soft sensor used for activated sludge bulking identification. Devising such solutions fits within the current trends and development of a smart system and infrastructure within smart cities. In order to optimize the selection of the data-mining method depending on the data collected within a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), a number of methods were considered, including: artificial neural networks, support vector machines, random forests, boosted trees, and logistic regression. The analysis conducted sought the combinations of independent variables for which the devised soft sensor is characterized with high accuracy and at a relatively low cost of determination. With the measurement results pertaining to the quantity and quality of wastewater as well as the temperature in the activated sludge chambers, a good fit can be achieved with the boosted trees method. In order to simplify the selection of an optimal method for the identification of activated sludge bulking depending on the model requirements and the data collected within the WWTP, an original system of weight estimation was proposed, enabling a reduction in the number of independent variables in a model—quantity and quality of wastewater, operational parameters, and the cost of conducting measurements.

This study describes the causes of shield tunnel segment cracks and alignment issues during shield tunnelling. The study was conducted in Down Town Line 3 (DTL3) contracts 926 and 927 twin tunnel projects in Singapore. It is revealed that these issues arose when Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) shoving on curve alignment though TBM is designed with articulation, which allows the machines to handle tight curves with ease. The study focused on how construction methodology affects the quality of tunnelling in terms of alignment and segment cracks. It was found that the clearance between the tail shield and tunnel lining was not maintained during mining. As a result, the tail shield exerts stress on the segments and causes cracks. In addition, the tunnel alignment deviated from pre-designed alignment, which directly affects the safety and durability of the shield tunnel. This study concludes that a proper selection of ring type “right lead” or “left lead” and the appropriate key selection, along with the skill of the workers, significantly solve segment cracks and alignment issues.

The development and high growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) have improved quality of life and strengthened different areas in society. Many cities worldwide are looking forward to becoming smart. One of the most popular use cases in smart cities is the implementation of smart parking solutions, as they allow people to optimize time, reduce fuel consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions. Smart parking solutions have a defined architecture with particular components (sensors, communication protocols, and software solutions). Although there are only three components that compose a smart parking solution, it is important to mention that each component has many types that can be used in the deployment of these solutions. This paper identifies the most used types of every component and highlights usage trends in the established analysis period. It provides a complementary perspective and represents a very useful source of information. The scientific community could use this information to decide regarding the selection of types of components to implement a smart parking solution. For this purpose, herein we review several works related to smart parking solutions deployment. To achieve this goal, a semi-cyclic adaptation of the action research methodology combined with a systematic review is used to select papers related to the subject of study. The most relevant papers were reviewed to identify subcategories for each component; these classifications are presented in tables to mark the relevance of each paper accordingly. Trends of usage in terms of sensors, protocols and software solutions are analyzed and discussed in every section. In addition to the trends of usage, this paper determines a guide of complementary features from the type of components that should be considered when implementing a smart parking solution.

Analysis of the adaptation of GARCH models presented in the paper consists of three parts. Firstly, the theoretical considerations in this regard was made, referring to the recommendations identified in the literature. Secondly, practical aspects of the proper selection of GARCH model for the time series based on the values of information criteria was presented. Thirdly, the relation between the quality of adaptation and the quality of obtained forecasts was indicated, using the tools of quantitative analysis. The aim of this paper is to verify if the improvement of the goodness of GARCH models results in better volatility forecasts.

Atopic dermatitis is a disease characterized with increasing prevalence around the world. It has chronic relapsing course and has a negative impact on the quality of life. Topical steroids (TS) due to their mechanisms of action remain the mainstay of topical treatment for AD patients. At the same time, well known side effects associated with corticosteroid therapy, although seen more frequently with incorrect TS use, and rare with the use of modern TS, in some instances limit their use. That is a reason for proper selection of topical treatment algorythms of AD including emollients and other medications in addition to the TS.

Background: Port site infections though rare, shall be evaluated and studied so as to improve the quality of healthcare. Materials and Methods: This prospective study was conducted on100 patients of all age group and both sexes with symptomatic cholelithiasis undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were analysed for port site infection. Result:   Out of 100 patients studied only 3 patients presented with port site infection. Conclusion: It is concluded that port site infection are rare in elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy and can be further reduced by proper selection of patients, and strictly following basic principles of laparoscopic cholecystectomy Keywords: Port site infection, laparoscopic, Cholecystectomy

The paper presents the results of studies carried out using differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), conjugated with thermogravimetry (TG). Measurements were made for samples with differentiated compositions, mainly consisting of ammonium nitrate with fertilizer purity and compounds that may be present in nitrogen fertilizers as potential additives or contaminants. The possibilities of applied techniques and recommendations concerning proper selection of measurement conditions are described. Furthermore, the method of interpretation of the obtained results is presented, which allows evaluating the thermal stability of the tested mixtures for the safety and quality of nitrogen fertilizers.
