Visualising complex data facilitates a more comprehensive stage for conveying knowledge. Within the medical data domain, there is an increasing requirement for valuable and accurate information. Patients need to be confident that their data is being stored safely and securely. As such, it is now becoming necessary to visualise data patterns and trends in real-time to identify erratic and anomalous network access behaviours. In this paper, an investigation into modelling data flow within healthcare infrastructures is presented; where a dataset from a Liverpool-based (UK) hospital is employed for the case study. Specifically, a visualisation of transmission control protocol (TCP) socket connections is put forward, as an investigation into the data complexity and user interaction events within healthcare networks. In addition, a filtering algorithm is proposed for noise reduction in the TCP dataset. Positive results from using this algorithm are apparent on visual inspection, where noise is reduced by up to 89.84%.

Abstract In this paper, we propose a new methodology and test system to enable the early detection and precise localization of Time-Dependent-Dielectric-Breakdown (TDDB) occurrence in Back-End-of-Line (BEOL) interconnection. The methodology is implemented as a novel Integrated Reliability Test System (IRTS). In particular, through our methodology and test system, we can easily synchronize electrical measurements and emission microscopy images to gather more accurate information and thereby gain insight into the nature of the defects and their relationship to chip manufacturing steps and materials, so that we can ultimately better engineer these steps for higher reliable systems. The details of our IRTS will be presented along with a case study and preliminary analysis results.

Abstract In Staatsolie, as of December 2013, there were 1549 shallow wells from its 3 oilfields. One thousand one hundred and thirty (1130) of these were in the Tambaredjo field (TAM field). In the 3 decades of its operations, the prime mechanism for lifting the 15.6oAPI crude to surface has been with progressive cavity pumps (PCP). The down hole pumps are surface driven and installed at an average true vertical depth (TVD) of 1000 ft. Oilfield best practices are employed in the design, installation and operation of the production strings and pumps. In the period 2008-2012 an average 580 down hole failures occurred annually of which 54% was caused by tubing leaks, with a repetitive frequency of up to 6 faillures per year on individual wells. Visual inspection of internal tubing's have shown that the principal failure mechanism stems from rod tubing wear (abrasion caused by the rotational motion) exacerbated by the corrosiveness of the produced fluids. Most of the tubing wear occurs at the tubing body in direct contact with the rod couplings. It is found that most tubing leakages (up to 70%) occur on the lower part of the tubing string above the pump. Previous installation of shorter rods above the pump, which is causing a high eccentrically movement of the rod string, also increased the occurrences of these failures directly above the pump. In an effort to reduce these tubing failures, an eight-well pilot program was commenced to install rod guides in wells with the highest failure rate and to install a sucker rod of 25 feet right above the pump. These eight wells were selected based on their high tubing failure rates. Although the program is still being conducted, preliminary results thus far have been quite promising in these wells. In four (4) wells, the work-over frequency was reduced from average 5 to 3 jobs per annum resulting in 40% reduction. The remaining 4 wells are still producing after an average 5-month period without any tubing failures. This paper presents the approach and strategy used to minimize rod-tubing wear in shallow vertical well applications based on the outcome of the pilot test.

Imaging-based high-content screens often rely on single cell-based evaluation of phenotypes in large data sets of microscopic images. Traditionally, these screens are analyzed by extracting a few image-related parameters and use their ratios (linear single or multiparametric separation) to classify the cells into various phenotypic classes. In this study, the authors show how machine learning–based classification of individual cells outperforms those classical ratio-based techniques. Using fluorescent intensity and morphological and texture features, they evaluated how the performance of data analysis increases with increasing feature numbers. Their findings are based on a case study involving an siRNA screen monitoring nucleoplasmic and nucleolar accumulation of a fluorescently tagged reporter protein. For the analysis, they developed a complete analysis workflow incorporating image segmentation, feature extraction, cell classification, hit detection, and visualization of the results. For the classification task, the authors have established a new graphical framework, the Advanced Cell Classifier, which provides a very accurate high-content screen analysis with minimal user interaction, offering access to a variety of advanced machine learning methods.

Agrammatism is characterized by morphosyntactic deficits in production of sentences. Studies dealing with the treatment of these deficits are scarce and their results controversial. The present study describes the rehabilitation of a case diagnosed as chronic Broca's aphasia, with agrammatism, using a method directed to sentence structural deficits. The method aims to expand the grammatical repertoire by training production of sentences with support from contexts that stimulate actions and dialogues. The patient showed positive results on all types of sentences trained and generalized the gains to spontaneous speech. However, these benefits were not sustained in the long term.

Despite positive results quantitative variables have had in predicting the future of companies alongside their predictive ability of companies’ financial position, the remarkable increase in bankruptcies of companies without any early detection and the consequent damage to the economy in general and to companies in particular, highlighted the need to make up for quantitative variables luck in terms of predictive significance in the process of predicting companies’ financial position, which made studies interested in this field react by emphasizing variables of descriptive nature. The aim of this study is to appreciate aspects of variables of descriptive nature and the extent of their contribution to the prediction of financial position of Algerian companies, using as a case study descriptive variables data of the risk scoring technique with application on a sample data of 15 companies operating in Algiers. This study concluded that descriptive variables contribute significantly to the prediction of the financial position of Algerian companies.

BackgroundCanada has a publicly-funded universal healthcare system with information systems managed by 13 different provinces and territories. This context creates inconsistencies in data collection and challenges for research or surveillance conducted at the national or multi-jurisdictional level. ObjectiveUsing a recent Canadian research project as a case study, we document the strengths and challenges of using administrative health data in a multi-jurisdictional context. We discuss the implications of using different health information systems and the solutions we adopted to deal with variations. Our goal is to contribute to better understanding of these challenges and the development of a more integrated and harmonized approach to conducting multi-jurisdictional research using administrative data. Context and ModelUsing data from five separate provincial healthcare data systems, we sought to create and report on a set of provincially-comparable mental health and addiction services performance indicators. In this paper, we document the research process, challenges, and solutions. Finally, we conclude by making recommendations for investment in national infrastructure that could help cut costs, broaden scope, and increase use of administrative health data that exists in Canada. ConclusionCanada has an incredible wealth of administrative data that resides in 13 territorial and provincial government systems. Navigating access and improving comparability across these systems has been an ongoing challenge for the past 20 years, but progress is being made. We believe that with some investment, a more harmonized and integrated information network could be developed that supports a broad range of surveillance and research activities with strong policy and program implications.

This revealed significant archaeology from the Viking period, which was excavated where necessary. A very successful series of public events followed, with senior politicians visiting. This paper concludes by emphasising the need to provide the public with accurate information.

Serious games are becoming emerging tools of educational support in the digital age. In this sense, the objective of this study is to evaluate the game about Computer Networks Security CyberCIEGE, in a higher education environment, to identify strengths and weaknesses in its use as a pedagogical tool. It was applied evaluations of the different game aspects. The research showed positive results that can assist in developing strategies for future serious games’ use in the educational field.
