The Ministry of National Defense of South Korea is currently acquiring various surveillance and reconnaissance assets to improve its independent surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. With the deployment of new strategic and tactical surveillance and reconnaissance assets, the amount of information collected will increase significantly, and military intelligence capable of handling greater complexity will be needed to process such information. As a consequence, it will no longer be possible to handle the increased workload through a manual analysis conducted by intelligence analysists. Further, the number of intelligence analysists is expected to decrease in the near future owing to a reduction in the total number of troops, thereby exacerbating the need to apply artificial intelligence technology to process military intelligence tasks more quickly and accurately. In this study, a method is introduced for determining the ways to prioritize the AI technology domains applied to military intelligence. Consequently, among the five stages used, the processing stage has the highest priority. The application of AI technology to all the stages of information circulation may be ideal. Nevertheless, among various military intelligence domains, the one that affords the highest effectiveness of such an application should be prioritized. This is owing to resource and defense budget limitations.

In the 1980s and 1990s, there were indispensable elements for the science fiction movies: cyborgs. This half-biologic and half-machine species had fully developed intelligence. And there was such a future fiction that appeared in these films that, on the one hand, raised admiration for the technologies that have not yet emerged, and on the other hand raised serious future concerns. The purpose of this study is to discuss the interaction of fear, artificial intelligence, and humans. And it is also aimed to research the way of representation of this interaction via aestheticization. Because of this, The Lawnmower (1992) has been chosen and analyized within the context of Production of Space Theory by Lefebvre. The Lawnmower has an importance about the imagining of dystopic and aesthetic way artificial intelligence technology would affect human life in the near future.

AbstractBiometric facial recognition is an artificial intelligence technology involving the automated comparison of facial features, used by law enforcement to identify unknown suspects from photographs and closed circuit television. Its capability is expanding rapidly in association with artificial intelligence and has great potential to solve crime. However, it also carries significant privacy and other ethical implications that require law and regulation. This article examines the rise of biometric facial recognition, current applications and legal developments, and conducts an ethical analysis of the issues that arise. Ethical principles are applied to mediate the potential conflicts in relation to this information technology that arise between security, on the one hand, and individual privacy and autonomy, and democratic accountability, on the other. These can be used to support appropriate law and regulation for the technology as it continues to develop.

The clinical use of artificial intelligence technology in orthodontics has increased significantly in recent years. Artificial intelligence can be utilized in almost every part of orthodontic workflow. It is an important decision making aid as well as a tool for building more efficient treatment mechanics. The use of artificial intelligence reduces costs, speeds up the diagnosis and treatment process and reduces or even eliminates the need for manpower. This review article evaluates the current literature on artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of orthodontics. The areas that the artificial intelligence is still lacking were also discussed in detail. Despite its shortcomings, artificial intelligence is considered to have an integral part of orthodontic practice in the near future.

Background. With the continuous maturity of computer software and hardware technology, the theory and method of computer-aided art design have developed rapidly. Objective. Applying artificial intelligence theory to computer-aided process art design is one of the newly developed research hotspots, and it is also the development trend of industrial design modernization. Methods. On the one hand, it can transplant the research results in the field of artificial intelligence into computer-aided art design, and on the other hand, it expands the application field of artificial intelligence, so that the two can be perfectly combined to promote common development. Results. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, computer art has gradually become a very active field, and a large number of computer art works are available every year. Conclusions. This paper briefly describes the basic concepts of computer-aided art design and artificial intelligence and discusses the application of artificial intelligence in computer-aided art design.


Filling a vacancy takes a lot of (costly) time. Automated preprocessing of applications using artificial intelligence technology can help to save time, e.g., by analyzing applications using machine learning algorithms. We investigate whether such systems are potentially biased in terms of gender, origin, and nobility. Using a corpus of common German reference letter sentences, we investigate two research questions. First, we test sentiment analysis systems offered by Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft. All tested services rate the sentiment of the same template sentences very inconsistently and biased at least with regard to gender. Second, we examine the impact of (im-)balanced training data sets on classifiers, which are trained to estimate the sentiment of sentences from our corpus. This experiment shows that imbalanced data, on the one hand, lead to biased results, but on the other hand, under certain conditions, can lead to fair results.

Purpose Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are currently changing human life with a great implication in the communication field. This research focusses on understanding the current and growing impact of AI and automation in the role of communication professionals to identify what skills and training are needed to face its impacts leading to a recommendation. Design/methodology/approach The research involves methodological triangulation, analysing and comparing data gathered from consulting with experts using the Delphi method, focus group with communication students, and literature review. Findings Findings show that the likely impacts are on the one hand the enhancing of efficiency and productivity, as well as freeing communication professionals to focus on the creative side, strategy and analytical thinking, on the other hand, repetitive and low-level jobs could be lost, being higher position jobs or those involving creativity and decision making harder to automate. Two types of training are needed: to gather experience with the current AI and automated tools, and to focus on developing human qualities that AI cannot replicate. Originality/value The outcomes of this research are valuable to help current and future communication practitioners, as well as organisations, to be one step ahead and survive the age AI and automation, being aware of its current and near-future impacts. The paper offers a list of recommended soft and technical skills, as well as training needed, categorizing them in low, medium and high priority.

This article analyses the current situation in the European Union related to the free movement of data, relationship between personal data, non – personal data and their use in artificial intelligence technology. Despite the European Union’s efforts to facilitate the free movement of data, some relevant obstacles are currently being observed. Artificial intelligence technology faces difficulties in using data. Despite the fact that large amounts of data are now increasingly accessible to such technology, its ability to de-anonymize data poses risks of turning simple data into personal data and making its use a challenge for artificial intelligence developers. The issues raised are sensitive and some regulatory changes should be made in the near future in order for the European Union to remain a leader in emerging technologies.
