In this paper, a new approach is presented to assess the risk of using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices in space systems under consideration of radiation effects that can dramatically affect reliability and performance. In the NewSpace era, the use of COTS has become mandatory, since typical space-qualified (class-1) electrical, electronic and electromechanical (EEE) components for space missions are no longer attractive due to their extremely high costs, long lead times and low performance. This paper sets out the usual constraints for COTS devices and proposes a guideline on how to select non-space-qualified components and when class-1 EEE devices are recommended for use.

The Music of Tragedy offers a new approach to the study of classical Greek theater by examining the use of musical language, imagery, and performance in the late work of Euripides. Drawing on the ancient conception of mousikē, in which words, song, dance, and instrumental accompaniment were closely linked, Naomi Weiss emphasizes the interplay of performance and imagination—the connection between the chorus’s own live singing and dancing in the theater and the images of music-making that frequently appear in their songs. Through detailed readings of four plays, she argues that the mousikē referred to and imagined in these plays is central to the progression of the dramatic action and to ancient audiences’ experiences of tragedy itself. She situates Euripides’s experimentation with the dramaturgical effects of mousikē within a broader cultural context, and in doing so, she shows how he both continues the practices of his tragic predecessors and also departs from them, reinventing traditional lyric styles and motifs for the tragic stage.

The integrated response of the human proteome to re-entry g-loads following long-term space missions was studied in 13 male cosmonauts at the age of 44 ± 6 years. Examination at the landing site discovered local petechial hemorrhages into soft tissues of the back and lower legs. The paper presents a new approach to evaluation of petechia and soft tissue hemorrhages in cosmonauts on return to Earth. Proteomic analysis was performed with the use of LC-MS. Bioinformation analysis was made using Perseus, PubMed, Uniprot and ANDSystem software. Nine out of 19 significantly different (p < 0.05) proteins were related to vascular injuries directly. We described proteins with a primarily protecting effect against endothelial cells apoptosis and augmentation of vascular permeability, proteins that are responsible for blood rheology and proteins antagonistic to the main triggers of ischeamia-reperfusion injuries of the lungs, liver and other parenchymal organs.

A new approach to counselling, solution focused brief therapy, is based on assumptions of client well-being which are very close to those underlying the work of occupational therapists. Two cases, one of memory loss and one of suicide risk assessment, are used to illustrate the principles of brief therapy translated into everyday practice.
