As Muslims bound to Islamic teachings, the attitude of young millennials preferring non-halal international cosmetics is trivial. Despite the acceptance of halal food, literature on the acceptance of halal cosmetics remains scarce. The intention to purchase halal cosmetics is crucial for the sustainability of halal cosmetics manufacturers. The authors used the theory of planned behavior to identify factors influencing the purchase intention of halal cosmetics among Muslim millennials. Since cosmetics are not exclusively used by females, as males are starting to use them in their daily lives, gender was incorporated into the framework to assess its moderating effect on the relationship. Furthermore, brand image was included in the theory of planned behavior. Data were collected from three universities in Malaysia. A total of 501 responses were analyzed with smart partial least squares to run a multigroup analysis. The analysis revealed that subjective norms have a stronger effect on females, and perceived behavioral control has a greater effect on males. Although attitude and brand image have a positive effect on the intention to purchase halal cosmetics, gender has no effect. The findings are essential for halal cosmetics manufacturers to craft a marketing strategy aimed at Muslim millennials in Malaysia.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the intention of consumer in choosing halal products, particularly for food products. The three main elements in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) consisting of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control is connected to the intention to consume halal products, particularly halal food. This study refers to the two studies both in the Malaysian context. This is a survey-based research. It used a questionnaire for collecting the data taken from 151 active students of Faculty of Economics and Business in Unpad who participated as the respondents in this research. The data were analysed using a descriptive statistics, correlation, chi-square. and multiple regression. The findings show that the three main elements have a significance effect on the intention. This study is unique since it was conducted in Indonesia’s context and the results is slightly different from the findings of the previous one.

ANTESEDEN DARI MINAT PEMBELIAN PRODUK SHAMPO NATURAL DAN ORGANIKAndrian HaroFakultas Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Jakartae-mail: [email protected] objective of this research is to examine the consumer purchase intention of natural and organic shampoo products based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Specifically, this research considers that consumer values as antecedents of consumers’ attitude toward buying natural and organic shampoo products. A survey was conducted with many respondents from graduate students of Magister Management, Trisakti University, Jakarta, and structural equation modeling techniques was used to test the relationships among the variables. The results show that environmental consciousness and appearance consciousness have a positive effect on attitude. Meanwhile, health consciousness has no significant effect on consumers’ attitude. Moreover, the results showed that TPB predictors which consist of attitude and perceived behavioral control are significantly correlated with purchase intention for natural and organic shampoo products, but not with subjective norm. This research provides valuable insight into consumer purchase intention behavior regarding natural and organic shampoo products by examining the factors that influence consumers’ attitude toward buying natural and organic shampoo products and consumers’ purchase intentions for the products. Keywords: Consumer Behaviour, Theory of Planned Behavior, Attitude, PurchaseIntention, Personal Care

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between subjective norms (SNs), attitude (ATT) and perceived behavioral control (PBC) in predicting intention to choose halal-labeled products. Additionally, this research is an attempt to address the moderating influence of religiosity (RG) on relationship between theory of planned behavior constructs and halal purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected through a survey. To find the factors that affect purchase intentions of Pakistani consumers regarding halal purchase intention partial least squares (PLS) path modeling has been used in the study. Findings The results state that TBP constructs, i.e. (ATT and PBC) have significant and positive and influence over halal purchase intentions. However, SN did not have positive and significant influence over halal purchase intention. Furthermore, no moderation effect of RG could be found in this study. Findings suggest that RG has not moderated the relationship between TBP constructs and halal purchase intention. Research limitations/implications This study has incorporated three antecedents of TBP. However, extended theory of planned behavior can also be tested to predict influence on consumer halal purchase intentions in Pakistan. Moreover, other variables, e.g. country of origin can also be added to examine the moderation effect on TBP constructs and halal purchase intention. Originality/value This research identifies the rationale behind internally perceived factors that influence purchasing halal product, it further adds to an understanding of content specific (halal products) purchase intention. The practical implications include the possible approaches that managers need to address while promoting Halal labels and this will influence marketing strategies in general and communications specifically.

In this article we examine the effect of the variable Islamic Religiosity toward consumer purchase intention on Muslim fashion trends by using the extended of theory of planned behavior as the grand of the theory. Respondents in this study were female Muslim in Central Java, Indonesia. Data collected using purposive sampling and analysis tool used in this study is path analysis. The results showed that all hypotheses were accepted except hypotheses three. Subjective norms have the most influence on the intention to buy female Muslim fashion trends. Subjective norm variables have a significant effect on consumer attitudes and consumer purchase intentions on female Muslim fashion trends. Other findings state that the variable of Islamic religiosity does not have a significant effect on female Muslim purchase intention directly, but the Islamic religiosity variable indirectly influence toward female Muslim purchase intentions through consumer attitudes variables. Whereas for Perceived behavioral control variables have a positive effect on consumer purchase intention.

Keyword: Islamic Religiosity, Theory of Planned Behavior, Female Muslim Fashion Trend, Purchase Intention

Natural labels are increasingly present in the market and appreciated by consumers, despite formal regulation still missing. Knowing the psychosocial factors that may predict natural food choice may be useful to understand what drives consumers to choose this category of food. We analyzed the antecedents of consumers’ intention to purchase natural food, testing a theoretical model that integrates the theory of planned behavior (TPB), the value-belief-norm (VBN) theory, and consumers’ trust in natural food. A sample of Italian participants (N = 1018) filled an online questionnaire assessing intention to buy natural food, TPB and VBN variables, and trust in the natural food supply chain. The model applied yielded results which confirmed the predictiveness of the tested integrated model. Attitude and perceived behavioral control were the strongest antecedents of intention, followed by trust and personal norm. Consumers’ intention to buy natural food was also associated with their evaluation of the consequences and possibilities related to the purchase behavior, as well as with their moral evaluation attributable to pro-environmental determinants.

As evidências encontradas corroboram a eficácia da TCP como modelo preditivo e apresentam resultados significativos que contribuem para o entendimento da formação da intenção de compra de alimentos orgânicos no contexto brasileiro.ABSTRACTThe article describes the search process for evidence of content validity and internal structure of the Theory of Planned Behavior model (TPB) (Ajzen, 1991) applied to the prediction of the intention to purchase organic food in the Brazilian context. The article presents the effect that attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control have on the intention to purchase organic foods. The research followed the design of an online survey with convenience sampling. The sample included 705 Brazilian consumers, of legal age and who are responsible or partially responsible for the purchase of food at their homes. In the data analysis, the techniques of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and hierarchical multiple linear regression were used. The TBP model explained 58% of the variation in the intention to purchase organic food. Attitudes (β = 0.42), subjective norms (β = 0.30) and perceived behavioral control (β = 0.35) are predictors of the intention to purchase organic foods. The results are relevant for public and private organizations involved in the organic food production chain that seek theoretical subsidies and scientific evidence to justify the development of messages aimed at promoting the purchase of organic foods. The evidence found corroborates the effectiveness of TPB as a predictive model and presents significant results that contribute to the understanding of the formation of the intention to purchase organic food in the Brazilian context.

Dried chillies arepotential to substitute fresh chillies when the price of fresh chillies significantly increases, and its purchases were expected to determine by the household consumer’s attitude. The aims of this researchare 1) to examine the household attitudes on dried chilies purchasing bythe Theory of Planned Behavior approach, 2) to determine the determinant factors ofdried chilli buying intention, and 3) to estimate the cross-elasticity of dried chili againsts fresh chilli. The results showed that household consumer attitude towards the purchase of dried chillies, in term of subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and purchase intention, are in medium category. The determinant factors on purchase intention of dried chilies (α = 10 percent) are the subjective norms, attitudes towards the purchase of dried chilies, and household income per month. The dried chilli cross-elasticity valueis very inelastic (0.069). Due to that, the policy implications in encouraging the dried chilli purchasing are the socialization of the dried chilli’s benefits and sustain the avaibility of dried chillies in traditional markets.

Social commerce (s-commerce) is linked to social shopping, social sharing, and described as focusing on sharing information with affiliate shoppers. Due to the increased popularity of private and public social networking websites, this empirical study extends Ajzen’s (1991) theory of planned behavior (TPB) to explain and predict purchase intention after interacting with an s-commerce website. Results indicate significant support for the theoretical paradigm from an s-commerce perspective. No significant effects emerged from the multiple linear regression conducted to determine whether the current study’s theoretical paradigm confirmed to the applicability of the theory of planned behavior. Using a path model as outlined by Ajzen (2004), the path analysis produced good support for the model in which purchase intention had a positive relationship with attitudes, subjective norm, and perceived control behavior. Analysis of attitudes, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intentions revealed subjective norm had the greatest influence on purchase intention. Implications for theoretical and practical analysis are presented, along with recommendations for future research.
