In order to study the mechanism of high-voltage electric field (HVEF) biotechnology, corona discharge produced by a multi-needle-plate HVEF was used to treat naked oat seeds, each treatment dose was divided into two groups, one group was covered with a petri dish cover, the other group was directly exposed to HVEF without a petri dish cover. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results show that the etching degree of the uncovered group was more serious than that of the covered group, it indicates that ion wind etching has a greater impact on the micro-morphology of seed coat, being covered can effectively reduce the etching degree of discharge plasma on seed. Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) of the seed coat shows most of the HVEF treatment group can form a new absorption peak at 1740 cm−1, which is closely related to the hydrophilicity of the seed. Comprehensive analysis shows that HVEF treatment can improve the hydrophilicity of seeds, whether they are covered or not. Being covered can reduce the degree of etching of the seed coat, but increase the hydrophilicity of the seed, indicating that the non-uniform electric field has a greater impact on the hydrophilicity of the seed. Our study showed that ion wind had an effect on the micro-morphology of seeds, but this effect didn’t translate into a macroscopic effect. This study provides ideas and experimental data support for the study of the biotechnological mechanism of HVEF.

The activity of Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) was enhanced with different strength of high voltage electric field. The results have shown that Ultraviolet-Visible spectra have been changed obviously. Experimental results indicate that the conformation of HRP can be changed by electric field. The study also showed that the activity index of HRP was increased by the certain strength of electric field. The activity index increase possibly was caused by the conformation variations of HRP. The result of this study has important meaning to explain the macroscopical electrostatic biological effects.

In this project, we investigated how ion thrusters produce propulsion and how the design of ion thrusters affects the performance of the thruster. In the experiment, we build a high voltage power supply (0- 50 kV) and foil rings to produce ion wind. When considering the design of the thruster, we focus on three variables: the volume of the space, where ions are produced and the electric field intensity. Thus, to investigate the first variable we made foil rings with different radius and change the distance between the ring and positive cathode. To determine the propulsion produced we use a speed sensor to determine the magnitude of the wind produced.

WHO (World Health Organization) concludes that not much effect is caused by electric field up to 20 kV / m in humans. WHO standard also mentions that humans will not be affected by the magnetic field under  100 micro tesla and that the electric field will affect the human body with a maximum standard of 5,000 volts per meter. In this study did not discuss about the effect of high voltage radiation SUTT (High Voltage Air Channel) with human health. The research will focus on energy utilization of SUTT radiation. The combination of electric field and magnetic field on SUTT (70-150KV) can generate electromagnetic (EM) and radiation waves, which are expected to be converted to turn on street lights around the location of high voltage areas or into other forms. The design of this prototype works like an antenna in general that captures electromagnetic signals and converts them into AC waves. With a capacitor that can store the potential energy of AC and Schottky diode waves created specifically for low frequency waves, make the current into one direction (DC). From the research results obtained the current generated from the radiation is very small even though the voltage is big enough.Keywords : Radiance Energy, Joule Thief, and  LED Module.
