Even though audio replay detection has improved in recent years, its performance is known to severely deteriorate with the existence of strong background noises. Given the fact that different frames of an utterance have different impacts on the performance of spoofing detection, this paper introduces attention-based long short-term memory (LSTM) to extract representative frames for spoofing detection in noisy environments. With this attention mechanism, the specific and representative frame-level features will be automatically selected by adjusting their weights in the framework of attention-based LSTM. The experiments, conducted using the ASVspoof 2017 dataset version 2.0, show that the equal error rate (EER) of the proposed approach was about 13% lower than the constant Q cepstral coefficients-Gaussian mixture model (CQCC-GMM) baseline in noisy environments with four different signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). Meanwhile, the proposed algorithm also improved the performance of traditional LSTM on audio replay detection systems in noisy environments. Experiments using bagging with different frame lengths were also conducted to further improve the proposed approach.

Spectrum sensing is one of the technologies that is used to solve the current problem of low utilization of spectrum resources. However, when the signal-to-noise ratio is low, current spectrum sensing methods cannot well-handle a situation in which the prior information of the licensed user signal is lacking. In this paper, a blind spectrum sensing method based on deep learning is proposed that uses three kinds of neural networks together, namely convolutional neural networks, long short-term memory, and fully connected neural networks. Experiments show that the proposed method has better performance than an energy detector, especially when the signal-to-noise ratio is low. At the same time, this paper also analyzes the effect of different long short-term memory layers on detection performance, and explores why the deep-learning-based detector can achieve better performance.

Electric power substations are experiencing an accelerated pace of digital transformation including the deployment of LAN-based IEC 61850 communication protocols that facilitate accessibility to substation data while also increasing remote access points and exposure to complex cyberattacks. In this environment, machine learning algorithms will play a vital role in cyberattack detection and mitigation and natural questions arise as to the most effective models in the context of smart grid substations. This paper compares the performance of three autoencoder-based anomaly detection systems including linear, fully connected, and convolutional autoencoders, as well as long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network for cybersecurity enhancement of transformer protection. The simulation results indicated that the LSTM model outperforms the other models for detecting cyberattacks targeting asymmetrical fault data. The linear autoencoder, fully connected autoencoder and 1D CNN further outperform the LSTM model for detecting cyberattacks targeting the symmetrical fault data.

In this paper, we investigate analysis and prediction of the time-dependent data. We focus our attention on four different stocks are selected from Yahoo Finance historical database. To build up models and predict the future stock price, we consider three different machine learning techniques including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Support Vector Regression (SVR). By treating close price, open price, daily low, daily high, adjusted close price, and volume of trades as predictors in machine learning methods, it can be shown that the prediction accuracy is improved.
