The article discusses methods of ships assessment when determining their suitability for search and rescue action (SAR) at sea. Selection of the most preferable ships is one of the action planning elements. Due to various construction and equipment the civilian ships can only perform rescue task to a certain degree. According to the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), many parameters and data have to be compared in order to create a ranking of vessels ordered according to the coordinator’s preferences. When data are missing, incomplete or uncertain, a similar effect can be obtained using fuzzy logic. The author discussed the nature of the criteria, evaluation methods and presented a simulation of a ship study using fuzzy logic. The author developed fuzzy rules and presented the principle of operation of the controller. The article deals with the main principles of a decision support system (DSS) for the selection of ships in SAR operations.

This paper describes the development of decision support system application to assist students who want to enter college so that no one choose the majors incorrectly. This application uses fuzzy logic method because fuzzy logic is very flexible in data which are vague and can be represented as a linguistic variable. The purpose of this application is to assist students to choose available majors at University Multimedia Nusantara which are appropriate with his/her capabilities. This application accepts five kinds of input values i.e. Mathematics, Indonesian, English, Physics, and TIK. Received input will be processed by the calculation of the system for decision-making and the application will generate output that shows how great a match for each majors. With this application, prospective students can find out where the majors that match his/her capabilities. This application has ninety nine percentage of match result accuracy. Index Terms—fuzzy logic, decision support system, UMN, selection of major

In this study, a novel fuzzy logic–based decision support system approach to provide assistance in the selection of suitable input shaping techniques is presented. The proposed approach selects the suitable input shaping technique for point-to-point motion type of systems such as precise positioning, crane operations, flexible robotic systems and so on. The problem solution addressed is the selection of the input shaping technique and the settings for the selection of the input shaper. Some of these design issues require extensive expertise in command shaping and system modeling studies. To overcome these problems and the necessity for such an expertise in these application areas, the proposed technique is provided as a solution. The presented study also provides a review of input shaping methods as well as their advantages and disadvantages in terms of vibration elimination performance, traveling time and robustness features. In the final section of the study, the details of the simulations, as well as experimental results, are provided to validate the achieved high performance of the proposed technique. The experimental studies are conducted on a Quanser IP02 Gantry Crane experimental setup.

The selection of athletes with the best conditions is very required to follow various sports agenda that will be followed, to do the selection can be used decision support system by applying fuzzy logic as a tool of decision maker by doing the selection of variables used. Expected results with the use of this fuzzy logic obtained optimal selection with sufficient variables complete and the best athlete is a recommendation given and not made the final decision.

This study examines the potential of combining decision support approaches to identify optimal bundles of ecosystem services. A forested landscape, Zona de Intervenção Florestal of Paiva and Entre-Douro and Sousa (Portugal), is used to test and demonstrate this potential. The landscape extends over 14,000 ha, representing 1,976 stands. The property is fragmented into 376 holdings. The overall analysis was performed in three steps. First, we selected six alternative solutions (A to F) in a Pareto frontier generated by a multiple criteria method within a decision support system (SADfLOR) for subsequent analysis. Next, an aspatial strategic multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) analysis was performed with the Criterium DecisionPlus (CDP) component of another decision support system (EMDS) to assess the aggregate performance of solutions A to F for the entire forested landscape with respect to their utility for delivery of ecosystem services. For the CDP analysis, SADfLOR data inputs were grouped into two sets of primary criteria: Wood Harvested and Other Ecosystem Services. Finally, a spatial logic-based assessment of solutions A to F for individual stands of the study area was performed with the NetWeaver component of EMDS. The NetWeaver model was structurally and computationally equivalent to the CDP model, but the key NetWeaver metric is a measure of the strength of evidence that solutions for specific land stands were optimal for the unit. Solutions D and B performed best in the aspatial strategic MCDA analysis, and a composite of the maps generated by NetWeaver demonstrated the spatial basis for the performance of solutions D and B in individual land stands. We conclude with a discussion of how the combination of decision support approaches encapsulated in the two systems could be further automated.

Sustainable forest management plays a key role for forest biodiversity and the provisioning of ecosystem services (BES), including the important service of carbon sequestration for climate change mitigation. Forest managers, however, find themselves in the increasingly complex planning situation to balance the often conflicting demands in BES. To cope with this situation, a prototype of a decision support system (DSS) for strategic (long-term) planning at the forest enterprise level was developed in the present project. The DSS was applied at three case study enterprises (CSEs) in Northern Switzerland, two lowland and one higher-elevation enterprise, for a 50-year time horizon (2010 to 2060) under present climate and three climate change scenarios (‘wet’, ‘medium’, ‘dry’). BES provisioning (for biodiversity, timber production, recreation, protection against gravitational hazards and carbon sequestration) was evaluated for four management scenarios (no management, current (BAU), lower and higher management intensity) using a utility-based multi-criteria decision analysis. Additionally, four alternative preference scenarios for BES provisioning were investigated to evaluate the robustness of the results to shifting BES preferences. At all CSEs, synergies between carbon sequestration, biodiversity and protection function as well as trade-offs between carbon sequestration and timber production occurred. The BAU management resulted in the highest overall utility in 2060 for different climate and BES preference scenarios, with the exception of one lowland CSE under current BES preference, where a lower intensity management performed best. Although climate change had a relatively small effect on overall utility, individual BES indicators showed a negative climate change impact for the lowland CSEs and a positive effect for the higher elevation CSE. The patterns of overall utility were relatively stable to shifts in BES preferences, with exception of a shift toward a preference for carbon sequestration. Overall, the study demonstrates the potential of the DSS to investigate the development of multiple BES as well as their synergies and trade-offs for a set of lowland and mountainous forest enterprises. The new system incorporates a wide set of BES indicators, a strong empirical foundation and a flexible multi-criteria decision analysis, enabling stakeholders to take scientifically well-founded decisions under changing climatic conditions and political goals.

All colleges each year organize the selection of new admissions. Acceptance of prospective students in universities as education providers is done by selecting prospective students based on achievement in school and college entrance selection. To select the best student candidates based on predetermined criteria, then use Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) or commonly called decision support system. One method in MCDM is the Elimination Et Choix Traduisant la Reality (ELECTRE). The ELECTRE method is the best method of action selection. The ELECTRE method to obtain the best alternative by eliminating alternative that do not fit the criteria and can be applied to the decision SNMPTN invitation path.

The head of the environment is an extension of the head of the village head in assisting or providing services to the community both in the administration of administration in the village and to other problems. It is natural for a kepling to be appreciated for their performance during their special tenure in the kecamatan field area. Previously, the selection of a dipling in a sub-district was very inefficient and seemed unfair for this exemplary selection to use a system to produce an accurate value, and no intentional element. To overcome the process of selecting an exemplary kepling that experiences these obstacles by using an application called a Decision Support System. Decision Support System (SPK) is a system that can solve a problem, and this system is also assisted with several methods, namely the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method that can assign weight values to each of the criteria based on their priority level. And to do the ranking or determine an exemplary set using the Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS) method, this method provides decision making that takes decisions based on ranking or the highest value. Keywords: Head of Medan Area Subdistrict, SPK, Centroid Rank Order, Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS).
