The strongyloid nematodes belonging to the subfamily Phascolostrongylinae occur primarily in the large intestines of macropodid and vombatid marsupials. Current molecular evidence suggests that the two nematode species, Macropostrongyloides dissimilis and Paramacropostrongylus toraliformis, from macropodid marsupials are distant from their respective congeners. Furthermore, specimens of Macropostrongyloides lasiorhini from the large intestines of the southern hairy-nosed wombat (Lasiorhinus latifrons) and the common wombat (Vombatus ursinus) are genetically distinct. This study aimed to describe the new genera Torquenema n. g. (with T. toraliforme n. comb. as the type species) from the eastern grey kangaroo, Wallabicola n. g. (with W. dissimilis n. comb. as the type species) from the swamp wallaby and a new species Macropostrongyloides phascolomys n. sp. from the common wombat, using light and scanning electron microscopy.

Two new genera of geoplaninid land planarians are described. Cephalic specialisations, mainly external morphology and musculature development, partially define each genus. Cephaloflexa, gen. nov. shows some peculiar characteristics, such as a gradual narrowing of the anterior third of the body and an upwards roll of the anterior tip, the absence of eyes and sensory pits on the apex, and the existence of a retractor muscle derived from the ventral cutaneous longitudinal musculature. Geoplana bergi Graff, 1899 is allocated to Cephaloflexa and is designated as the type species. The ventral cutaneous longitudinal muscles of Supramontana, gen. nov. (monotypic), are partially sunk into the mesenchyme, thus constituting a cephalic retractor muscle. A new species of each genus is also described. The external morphology and anatomy of the cephalic region of the new genera and of Geoplana Stimpson, 1857, Choeradoplana Graff, 1896 and Issoca C. G. Froehlich, 1955 are analysed. Emendations to the diagnoses of Issoca and Choeradoplana are proposed based on cephalic differentiations. Cephaloflexa, gen. nov. presenta características peculiares, como el tercio anterior del cuerpo muy fino, región anterior enrollada hacia el dorso, ausencia de ojos y fosetas sensoriales en el ápice anterior del cuerpo, y un músculo retractor derivado de la musculatura subcutánea longitudinal ventral. Supramontana, gen. nov., género monotípico, tiene parte de la musculatura subcutánea longitudinal ventral hundida en el mesénquima y transformada en la región anterior en un músculo retractor cefálico. Se analiza la morfología externa y la anatomía de la región cefálica de Geoplana Stimpson, 1857, Choeradoplana Graff, 1896 e Issoca Froehlich, 1955 y se proponen enmiendas a las diagnosis de Choeradoplana e Issoca basadas en las diferenciaciones cefálicas.

Limacella bangladeshana, a new species of well-known fungal family Amanitaceae from Bangladesh is described and illustrated based on morphology and molecular evidence. The species is mainly recognized by its medium-sized basidiomata, cream-white to off-white or buff-white pileus, the slightly uplifted pileal margin, globose basidiospores measuring 3.5–4 × 3.5–4 µm, an ixo-trichodermal pileipellis, and the common presence of clamp connections. Molecular phylogenetic analysis using sequence of the nuclear ribosomal large subunit (nrLSU) also supports the recognition of the new species in Limacella. This species represents the first generic record of Limacella for Bangladesh. Detailed description, color photos and illustration, and comparison with allied taxa are presented.

Two new genera with phylogenetic affinities to Phanerochaete s.l. are presented, namely Hydnophanerochaete and Odontoefibula. The generic type of Hydnophanerochaete is Phanerochaeteodontoidea. Odontoefibula is established based on a new species: O.orientalis (generic type). Both genera have effused basidiocarps with odontioid hymenial surface, simple-septate generative hyphae, cystidia lacking, clavate basidia and ellipsoid basidiospores that are smooth, thin-walled, inamyloid, non-dextrinoid and acyanophilous. Hydnophanerochaete is additionally characterised by a compact texture in the subiculum with thick-walled generative hyphae and quasi-binding hyphae. Odontoefibula has a dense texture of subiculum with thin- to slightly thick-walled hyphae and further a dark reddish reaction of basidiocarps when treated with KOH. Multi-marker phylogenetic analyses based on sequences, inferred from the ITS+nuc 28S+rpb1+rpb2+tef1 dataset, indicate that Hydnophanerochaete and Odontoefibula are placed in the Meruliaceae and Donkia clades of Phanerochaetaceae, respectively. Phanerochaetesubodontoidea is a synonym of P.odontoidea, according to morphological and molecular evidence.

During an investigation of microbes associated with arthropods living in decaying coconut trees, a Pseudomonas isolate, Milli4T, was cultured from the digestive tract of the common Asian millipede, Trigoniulus corallinus. Sequence analysis of 16S rRNA and rpoB genes found that Milli4T was closely related but not identical to Pseudomonas panipatensis Esp-1T, Pseudomonas knackmussi B13T and Pseudomonas humi CCA1T. Whole genome sequencing suggested that this isolate represents a new species, with average nucleotide identity (OrthoANIu) values of around 83.9–87.7% with its closest relatives. Genome-to-genome distance calculations between Milli4T and its closest relatives also suggested they are distinct species. The genomic DNA G+C content of Milli4T was approximately 65.0 mol%. Phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characterization and fatty acid methyl ester analysis was performed on Milli4T and its related type strains. Based on these data, the new species Pseudomonas schmalbachii sp. nov. is proposed, and the type strain is Milli4T (=BCRC 81294T=JCM 34414T=CIP 111980T).

A new tribe of pelagic Ostracoda (Halocyprididae), the Metaconchoeciini, is established to encompass all the species formerly classified in the genus Metaconchoecia. All the remaining genera in the subfamily Conchoecinae are, therefore, assigned to another new tribe, the Conchoeciini. The original genus Metaconchoecia is subdivided into ten genera. Metaconchoecia is retained and nine new genera established namely: Austrinoecia, Clausoecia, Deeveyoecia, Juryoecia, Kyrtoecia, Muelleroecia, Nasoecia, Rotundoecia and Vityazoecia. Keys to these new genera and their component species are provided. Tables summarize the characters that most readily distinguish between the most closely related taxa. Appendices summarize the taxonomic characters and detailed size data for the majority of species that occur in the Atlantic and the North Pacific. A new species, Vityazoecia distoglandula, is described, which is designated as the type species of its genus.

Recently, Hsiao & Huang (2018) presented a taxonomical revision of Ornatomalthinus Poinar & Fanti, 2016 based on the discovery of a new species (O. ruicheni) from the Cretaceous Burmese amber of the Hukawng Valley (Myanmar). According to the authors, this species shows many differences in respect to O. elvirae Poinar & Fanti, 2016. I propose that due to these morphological divergences the new species cannot belong to the genus Ornatomalthinus (type-species O. elvirae) as indicated by Hsiao & Huang (2018). The appearance is in fact identical to Sanaungulus Fanti, Damgaard & Ellenberger, 2018 (Poinar & Fanti, 2016; Fanti et al., 2018). Additionally, Ornatomalthinus should remain in the subfamily Cantharinae. In this note the common characters of O. ruicheni and the criticalities of attribution to Ornatomalthinus are highlighted, a new combination is proposed and higher classification is discussed.

The phylogenetic tree of Chinese Trigonidiinae species was reconstructed based on one mitochondrial fragment (COI) and two nuclear ribosomal loci (18S and 28S). According to the concatenated trees, we define four genus groups with high nodal supports. The subgenus Paratrigonidium should be upgraded to genus status. A new genus Abstrigonidium He gen. nov. is established and Paratrigonidium chloropodum is selected as type species (A. chloropodum comb. nov.). Amusurgus (Paranaxipha) fujianensis is moved to genus Sectus as S. fujianensis comb. nov. A new species named as Emerasoma curvicerca He gen. et sp. nov. is reported. It differs from other genera by asymmetric genitalia, and lacking stridulatory files and mirror. The type specimens are deposited in Museum of Biology, East China Normal University (ECNU).

The jumping spider tribe Ballini is reviewed in the Afrotropical Region. The genera Afromarengo Benjamin, 2004 and Goleta Peckham & Peckham, 1894 are redefined. In Afromarengo, A. coriacea (Simon, 1900) is illustrated and A. ghanaensis sp. nov. (♀, from Ghana) and A. ugandensis sp. nov. (♂♀, from Uganda and D.R. Congo) are newly described. For Goleta, the type species, Goleta workmani (Peckham & Peckham, 1885), is redescribed from both sexes. Seven new genera and twelve new species are described, including three monotypic genera, Ballagascar gen. nov., with B. insularis (Peckham & Peckham, 1885) comb. nov. (ex Colaxes Simon, 1900) from Madagascar (♂♀) as the type species; Mondeku gen. nov., with M. albopilosum sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya) as the type species; and Oviballus gen. nov., with O. vidae sp. nov. (♂♀, from South Africa) as the type species. We also describe Planamarengo gen. nov., with P. bimaculata (Peckham & Peckham, 1903) comb. nov. (ex Afromarengo) from South Africa (♂♀) as the type species, as well as P. gatamaiyu sp. nov. (♂, from Kenya) and P. kenyaensis sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya); Propiomarengo gen. nov., with P. plana (Haddad & Wesołowska, 2013) comb. nov. (ex Afromarengo) from South Africa (♀) as the type species, as well as P. foordi sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa); Tenuiballus gen. nov., with T. minor sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa) as the type species, and also including T. coronatus sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa); and Wandawe gen. nov., with W. benjamini (Wesołowska & Haddad, 2013) comb. n. (ex Colaxes) from South Africa (♂♀) as the type species, and also including W. australe sp. nov. (♂♀, from South Africa) and W. tigrinа sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya and Uganda). A new combination for Copocrossa albozonata Caporiacco, 1949, Afromarengo albozonata comb. nov. is provided, and the name A. albozonata is treated as a nomen dubium. A new species of Padilla Peckham & Peckham, 1894, a genus only known from the Afrotropical Indian Ocean islands, P. wandae sp. nov. (♂♀, from Madagascar), is described. New data and illustrations for Sadies Wanless, 1984, as well as two Asian species of Colaxes, are provided. The recently revised Pachyballus Simon, 1900 and Peplometus Simon, 1900 are not treated further. A key to the genera of Afrotropical Ballinae is presented, as well as new data on their natural history, biogeography, and a discussion of the evolution of mimicry of various arthropod groups by balline jumping spiders. A putative synapomorphy and the new composition of Ballini sensu novo are proposed.
