Linear motors have promising application to industrial manufacture because of their direct motion and thrust output. A permanent magnetic linear oscillating synchronous motor (PMLOSM) provides reciprocating motion which can drive a piston pump directly having advantages of high frequency, high reliability, and easy commercial manufacture. Hence, researching the tracking performance of PMLOSM is of great importance to realizing its popularization and application. Traditional PI control cannot fulfill the requirement of high tracking precision, and PMLOSM performance has high phase lag because of high control stiffness. In this paper, an advancing motivation feedforward control (AMFC), which is a combination of advancing motivation signal and PI control signal, is proposed to obtain high tracking precision of PMLOSM. The PMLOSM inserted with AMFC can provide accurate trajectory tracking at a high frequency. Compared with single PI control, AMFC can reduce the phase lag from −18 to −2.7 degrees, which shows great promotion of the tracking precision of PMLOSM. In addition, AMFC will promote the application of PMLOSM to other working conditions needing high frequency reciprocating tracking performance and give PMLOSM greater future prospects.

This paper investigates the use of optimal l1 and H∞ model reference optimal feedforward control to enhance the tracking performance of a linear motor drive. Experimental work is presented which studies the effects of signal preview, tracking constraint, and reference model choice on tracking performance. Suboptimal l1 control where the closed-loop system has a zero on the unit circle due to integral action in the feedback controller is given special attention, and is seen to give near optimal performance for the system under study here. For the specific trajectory employed here, the best performing feedforward controllers were experimentally seen to reduce by more than half the maximum and rms tracking errors of the H∞ optimal feedback closed-loop systems.

The impact of Covid-19 placed Higher Education leadership in a state of crisis management, where decision making had to be swift and impactful. This research draws on ethea of mindfulness, actor training techniques, referencing high-reliability organisations (HRO). Interviews conducted by the author with three leaders of actor training conservatoires in Higher Education institutions in Australia, the UK and the USA reflect on crisis management actions taken in response to the impact of Covid-19 on their sector, from which high-frequency words are identified and grouped thematically. Reflecting on these high-frequency words and the thematic grouping, a model of mindful leadership is proposed as a positive tool that may enable those in leadership to recognise and respond efficiently to wider structural frailties within Higher Education, with reference to the capacity of leaders to operate with increased mindfulness, enabling a more resilient organisation that unlocks the locus of control.

Permanent magnet synchronous motor always suffers from air gap field distortion and inverter nonlinearity, which lead to the harmonic components in motor currents. A resonant controller is a remarkable control method to eliminate periodic disturbance, whereas the conventional resonant controller is limited by narrow bandwidth and phase lag. This article presents a novel resonant controller with a precise phase compensation method for a permanent magnet synchronous motor to suppress the current harmonics. Based on the analysis of the current harmonic characteristics, the proposed resonant controller for rejecting a set of selected current harmonic components is plugged in the current loop, and it is parallel to the traditional proportional–integral controller. Furthermore, the stability analysis of the proposed resonant controller is investigated, and the parameters are tuned to get a satisfactory performance. Compared with the conventional resonant controller, the proposed resonant controller can achieve good steady-state performance, dynamic performance, and frequency adaptivity performance, simultaneously. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed suppression scheme.

According to auto-incasing equipment characteristic and control demand, a kind of salt in-bags incasing control management system was designed. The paper introduced the key technologies realization of the system. In the paper, a new fuzzy controller was designed to build a dual closed-loop fuzzy control system, realizing incasing goal site error on-line continuous correction. A logistics management module based on e-Tag was designed to realize product information traceable management. The experimental results show the system realizes accurate position control and RFID logistics management with high reliability and high control precision. The system can be popularized to other products packaging industry.
