This study analyzes the information dissemination process of RegoPantes, an e-agribusiness innovation to connect farmers to agricultural commodity users directly, thus cutting the long chain of distribution. RegoPantes is a platform developed by 8villages to help farmers receive fair price for every agricultural commodity they sell, with the aim to help improve the farmer welfare.  The purpose of this study is to identify constraints faced by diffusion agencies that disseminate information about RegoPantes to the public specifically housewives as end users of agricultural commodities. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to provide an in-depth understanding of the diffusion of RegoPantes. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and document studies. Based on the result of research known that 8villages chose a public relations approach that included press relations in disseminating information about RegoPantes. Although there have been many publications from various media, the adoption of innovations by end users of agricultural commodities is still not optimal.

Academic scholarship and professional literature have defined communications as existing in two groups: internal and external/public relations. However, globalism, technology, evolving communication practices, and the maturation of the public relations field have evoked changing attitudes and perceptions regarding stakeholder identification, publics, and communications. This researcher sent a broad, representative survey to university alumni, conducted in-depth interviews with university staff, and performed a content analysis of alumni-facing communications, resulting in an alternate method of viewing internal and external communications. Dubbed the stakeholder-communication continuum, the theory places internal and external communications on either end of a spectrum, with stakeholder groups plotted along the continuum based on their relationship to the organization and each other. ©Journal of Professional Communication, all rights reserved.

Previous research on information dissemination in emergencies focus on prediction of the volume via abundant models. However, most of these models did not specify different stages of emergencies, and hence making it difficult for public relations (PR) practitioner to make decisions based on needs of each stage in today’s rapid changing media environments. In this study, we introduce the idea of system cybernetics and the method of system identification into information dissemination perspective. Based on the proposed information accumulation probability distribution continuity (IAPDC) model, we provide a quantitative division of the information accumulation process. The durations of each stage and the time points that each stage begins are stated and defined with a quantitative calculation method. Using empirical data from 83 emergencies in 2016 and 2017 covering Weibo, WeChat Platforms and over 20,000 web media, we verify the effectiveness of this method. Next, we use simulation analysis to demonstrate what effects of parameters have on the dissemination process and how do changes on different stages affect the process. Moreover, we also demonstrate the effects of emergencies’ attributes on the information dissemination process and on each stage. Our study complements the gaps in existing communication discipline and provides insight for PR practitioner when dealing with enterprise emergencies.
