Based on nutritional status, women who are obese have a higher risk of menstrual cycle disorder compared to women with normal nutrient status. The purpose of the study was to promote the difference in the prevalence of menstrual patterns based on nutritional status in teenagers in midwifery school, Universitas Muslim Indonesia. This research used cross-sectional design. Samples in this study were 56 people. The data were collected by filling questionnaires and direct measurements of nutritional status based on the per cent of body fat using a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) method, then analysed using Chi-Square. The results of this study showed 56 young women who had an average body fat per cent of 29 (51.8%). As the results, it indicated a significant relationship between the per cent of body fat with the long disorders period of menstruation (p = 0.01). Whereas the per cent of body fat with menstrual cycles did not show the prominent relationship (p = 0.33) as well as between per cent body fat with painful menstruation which there is no significant relationship (p = 0.24). Besides, the situation can be caused by several factors such as changes in hormone and stress. Tujuan penelitian adalah memgetahui perbedaan prevalensi gangguan pola menstruasi, berdasarkan status gizi pada remaja di program D-III Kebidanan UMI. Desain penelitian ini adalah cross sectional. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 56 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengisian kuesioner dan pengukuran langsung status gizi berdasarkan persen lemak tubuh menggunakan metode Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi square. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari 56 remaja putri yang memiliki persen lemak tubuh normal sebanyak 29 (51,8%). Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara persen lemak tubuh dengan gangguan lama menstruasi (p=0,01), sedangkan antara persen lemak tubuh dengan siklus menstruasi tidak ada hubungan signifikan (p=0,33) begitupun juga dengan antara persen lemak tubuh dengan nyeri haid tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan (p=0,24) hal ini bisa disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor antar lain perubahan hormon dan stress. Abstract The objective of this study was to improve the cutoff points of the traditional classification of nutritional status and overweight / obesity based on the BMI in a Brazilian sample. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 1301 individuals of both genders aged 18 to 60 years. The subjects underwent measurement of weight and height and bioelectrical impedance analysis. Simple linear regression was used for statistical analysis, with the level of significance set at p < 0.05. The sample consisted of 29.7% men and 70.3% women aged on averaged 35.7 ± 17.6 years; mean weight was 67.6 ± 16.0 kg, mean height was 164.9 ± 9.5 cm, and mean BMI was 24.9 ± 5.5 kg/m2. As expected, lower cutoffs were found for BMI than the classic reference points traditionally adopted by the WHO for the classification of obesity, i.e., 27.15 and 27.02 kg/m2 for obesity for men and women, respectively. Other authors also follow this tendency, Romero-Corral et al. (2008) suggested 25.8 to 25.5 kg/m2 for American men and women as new values for BMI classification of obesity. Gupta and Kapoor (2012) proposed 22.9 and 28.8 kg/m2 for men and women of North India. The present investigation supports other literature studies which converge in reducing the BMI cutoff points for the classification of obesity. Thus, we emphasize the need to conduct similar studies for the purpose of defining these new in populations of different ethnicities.

Backgound: Measurement of body fat percentage as estimates of obesity, which can be done with the method of measuring the bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and the meter inches inelastic. Both of these methods can be used as a simple, safe and non-nvasive. Objective: To analyze the comparative measurement of obesity with the BIA and the meter inches inelastic. Method: The study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. Sample were taken and selected through simple ramdomize sampling method. Data obtained directly by measuring samples that met the inclusion criteria. Obesity screening data obtained by measuring the percentage of body fat using BIA method and meter inches inelastic. Results: Based on the calculationn, as many as 65 samples taken by proportional random sampling in each specialization the student of the Faculty of Public Health 2014 Airlangga University. The percentage of female students with obesity using the BIA was 29,2% and inelastic inch meter is 21,5%. The statistical test showed t test was 0,897 ( sig>0,05). Conclusion: There are differences in the measurement result mean obesity BIA metered inches inelastic screening tools and have a good validity in measuring obesity. Suggestion : For further research it is recommended to be more accurate in measuring using an inelastic inch meter, while when using BIA  it  should use altimeter measurement because it is needed for data input.

Latar Belakang : Prevalensi ketidakteraturan siklus menstruasi pada vegetarian sebesar 26,5%. Diet vegetarian merupakan pola makan yang membatasi produk hewani dan mengonsumsi produk makanan nabati seperti buah, sayur, kacang dan biji-bijian yang merupakan sumber fitoestrogen. Vegetarian memiliki persentase lemak tubuh lebih rendah dari nonvegetarian. Fitoestrogen dan persentase lemak tubuh dapat mempengaruhi kadar estrogen dalam tubuh dan mengakibatkan gangguan siklus menstruasi.Tujuan : Mengetahui hubungan konsumsi fitoestrogen dan persentase lemak tubuh dengan siklus menstruasi pada wanita vegetarian.Metode : Desain penelitian cross sectional dengan 49 wanita vegetarian dipilih secara consecutive sampling. Persentase lemak tubuh diukur menggunakan Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Asupan zat gizi diperoleh melalui Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionaire (SQFFQ) dan dianalisis menggunakan program software gizi. Aktivitas fisik diukur menggunakan International Physical Activity Questionaire  (IPAQ). Data siklus menstruasi diperoleh melalui kuesioner. Data dianalisis dengan uji Chi Square dan uji Regresi Logistik Ganda.Hasil : Sebanyak 49,0% wanita vegetarian mengalami gangguan siklus menstruasi. Tidak ada hubungan antara asupan energi, kerbohidrat, lemak, protein, serat dan aktivitas fisik dengan siklus menstruasi (p>0,05). Terdapat hubungan antara konsumsi fitoestrogen, persentase lamk tubuh dan riwayat gangguan siklus menstruasi pada keluarga dengan siklus menstruasi (p<0,05). Konsumsi fitoestrogen berhubungan dengan kejadian gangguan siklus menstruasi setelah dikontrol dengan persentase lemak tubuh dan riwayat gangguan menstruasi pada keluarga (p<0,05).Simpulan : Konsumsi fitoestrogen, persentase lemak tubuh dan riwayat gangguan siklus menstruasi pada keluarga berhubungan dengan siklus menstruasi.

Kelebihan berat badan (overweight) dan obesitas pada remaja merupakan faktor risiko penyakit diabetes, kardiovaskular, dan kanker. Hal ini disebabkan karena terjadinya penimbunan lemak pada jaringan adiposa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan aktivitas fisik dan konsumsi makanan cepat saji (fast foods) dengan komposisi lemak tubuh pada remaja di SMA Karuna Dipa Palu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian analitik dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 74 orang yang diambil menggunakan teknik systematic random sampling. Data komposisi lemak tubuh diketahui melalui pengukuran menggunakan alat BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) merk KERN, data aktivitas fisik didapatkan melalui pengisian kuesioner aktivitas fisik selama seminggu terakhir, dan data konsumsi makanan cepat saji (fast foods) sebulan terakhir didapatkan melalui pengisian formulir FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire). Analisis data menggunakan uji chi square dengan nilai α=0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 29,7% remaja memiliki komposisi lemak tubuh yang tinggi. Persentase remaja yang tergolong inaktif sebesar 73,0%, dan 59,5% remaja sering mengkonsumsi makanan cepat saji (fast foods). Remaja tergolong inaktif beraktivitas fisik yang memiliki komposisi lemak tubuh yang tinggi sebesar 35,2% (p-value = 0,161; α>0,05). Dan persentase remaja yang sering mengkonsumsi fast foods memiliki komposisi lemak tubuh yang tinggi sebesar 36,4% (p-value = 0,210; α>0,05). Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini yaitu tidak ada hubungan yang bermakna antara aktivitas fisik dan konsumsi makanan cepat saji (fast foods) dengan komposisi lemak tubuh pada remaja.

Nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik adalah permasalahan yang sangat sering terjadi. Salah satu faktor penyebab nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik adalah persentase lemak tubuh. Persentase lemak tubuh yang meningkat dapat menjadi risiko terjadinya nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan persentase lemak tubuh terhadap risiko terjadinya nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik pada Mahasiswa Program Studi Fisioterapi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Udayana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik cross sectional yang dilakukan pada bulan Januari tahun 2021. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel berjumlah 73 orang (12 laki-laki, 61 perempuan) usia 18-21 tahun. Persentase lemak tubuh diukur melalui alat Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, sedangkan nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik diukur melalui pemeiksaan langsung oleh fisioterapis. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan ialah Chi Square Test untuk menganalisis adanya hubungan persentase lemak tubuh dengan nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik. Didapatkan hasil berupa nilai p sebesar 0,001 (p< 0,05). Selain itu, untuk mengetahui perbandingan risiko terjadinya nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik digunakan Prevalence Odd Ratio (POR) didapatkan hasil untuk persentase lemak tubuh yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan persentase lemak tubuh yang rendah ialah 5,197 [95% CI 1,87-14,44]. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa ditemukan hubungan yang signifikan antara persentase lemak tubuh terhadap risiko terjadinya nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik pada mahasiswa Program Studi Fisioterapi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Udayana serta mahasiswa dengan persentase lemak tubuh yang tinggi memiliki risiko 5,197 kali lebih besar mengalami nyeri punggung bawah non spesifik dibandingkan dengan persentase lemak tubuh yang rendah. Kata Kunci: persentase lemak tubuh, nyeri punggung bawah.

Menarche is first menstruation that an indicator of teenage girlsenter puberty phase. Nowadays the age of menarche has decreasedin tothe younger. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relation between nutritional status and body fat percentage with menarche age. This research used cross sectional design with sample size of 37 female students who had experienced menstruation and selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected by anthropometric measurements to assess nutritional status, body fat percentage using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Data were analyzed by Spearman correlation test. The results showed that more than half of respondents had normal nutritional status (51.4%) and healthy body fat percentage. There was a correlation between nutritional status (p=0.029, r= -0.360) and body fat percentage (p =0.048, r=-0.328) with age of menarche among teenage girls at the Muhammadiyah GKB 1 Gresik Elementary School. The conclusion of this study was higher nutritional status (score of z-score) and fat percentage will decrease the age of menarche. Research suggestion is to normalize nutritional status and percent body fat. By maintaining consumption pattern and increase physical activity, such as cycling, swimming, and others.

To investigate the associations between body fat percentage (BF%) with childhood blood pressure (BP) levels and elevated BP (EBP) risks, and further examine the validity of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), we conducted a cross-sectional study of 1426 children and adolescents aged 7–17 years in Beijing, 2020. EBP, including elevated systolic BP (ESBP) and elevated diastolic BP (EDBP), was defined based on the age- and sex-specific 90th BP reference values of children and adolescents in China. BF% was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and BIA devices, and was divided into four quartiles. Log-binomial models were applied to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Girls tended to have higher BF% levels than boys (p < 0.05). There was 41.0% of girls who developed EBP. High BF% was associated with increased BP levels with ORs of 0.364 (95%CI = 0.283–0.444) for SBP, 0.112 (95%CI = 0.059–0.165) for DBP, and 1.043 (95%CI = 1.027–1.059) for EBP, while the effects were more pronounced in girls and older-aged children. BIA devices agreed well with BF% assessment obtained by DEXA. High BF% might have negative effects on childhood BP. Convenient measurements of body fat might help to assess childhood obesity and potential risks of hypertension.

 The role of nutrition in the life cycle is very important. If there is a problem with malnutrition, this is a sign that you are at risk of suffering from chronic disease. Measurement of nutritional status and body fat percentage is important as an initial screening to prevent the risk of chronic disease. This study aims to describe the performance of the nutritional status and body fat percentage of new student STIKes Baiturrahim 2020. This study used a cross-sectional study. The research was conducted at STIKes Baiturrahim Jambi in September 2019. The number of respondents was 148 people. The data used are the characteristics of the respondents (age, sex, body weight, and height) and the percent of body fat obtained from measurement of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). The results showed that most of them had normal nutritional status (64,2%) and body fat percentage was classified as normal (41,9%). It is recommended that students maintain normal nutritional status and body fat percentage and also always monitoring the body weight to prevent chronic disease

Abstract Context: Accurate methods for predicting percent body fat in female athletes are needed for those who lose weight for competition. Methods mandated by sports-governing bodies for minimal weight determination in such athletes lack validation. Objective: To determine whether combining anthropometry (skinfolds, SF) and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in a 3 component model (3C) would improve the prediction of percentage body fat (%Fat) in female athletes. Secondarily, the Slaughter skinfold equation was evaluated. We hypothesized that compared to outcomes for SF or BIA alone, 3C-determined %Fat would not differ from our criterion method (accuracy) and would be a stronger predictor (higher r2) of the criterion. Design: Cross sectional. Setting: Laboratory-based study during the pre-season for collegiate sport. Participants: Female athletes (n=18 D1 NCAA) recruited from swim and gymnastic teams. Main Outcome Variables: %Fat based on a four-compartment (4C) criterion incorporating body density (air displacement plethysmography), total body water (D2O dilution), and bone mineral mass (DEXA) compared to predicted %Fat using SF alone (Slaughter equation), bioelectrical impedance analysis (single frequency for TBW estimate) and combined skinfolds and BIA (3C). Results: Regression revealed that for %Fat using the criterion 4C, the highest adjusted coefficient of determination and lowest prediction error (r2 ±standard error of estimate) was 3C (r2=0.87 ±2.8%) followed by BIA (r2=0.80 ±3.5%) and SF (r2=0.76 ± 3.8%) (for all, p&lt;0.05). Means differed for %Fat determined using BIA (26.6 ±7.5) and 3C (25.5 ±7.2) vs. the 4C (23.5 ±7.4) (ANOVA and post hoc p&lt;0.05). The SF estimate (24.0 +7.8) did not differ from the 4C value. Conclusions: Combining SF and BIA might improve the prediction and lower the prediction error for determining %Fat in female athletes compared to SF or BIA separately. Regardless, the Slaughter skinfold equation appeared accurate for determining the mean %Fat in these female athletes.
