Grounded theory has been utilized in nursing research in order to develop theory from data. Since there are three approaches in the grounded theory methodology that consist of Classic grounded theory, Straussian grounded theory, and Constructivist grounded theory, thus understanding about perspective of each approach is needed. Those approaches have different points of views regarding the philosophical position, role of literature review, and coding process in data analysis. This review provides an understanding about the grounded theory approaches for researchers particularly the novice researchers, and selects an appropriate approach in their study.

Women in India have been victim of violence and discrimination since ages but this aggression has also led to empowerment of women in some cases. This study deals with study of such aggressive women who transformed their aggression to empowerment. Grounded theory methodology has been used to explore and understand the process and role of education in transformation. This study focuses on route aggression takes and role of education in channelizing the aggressive energy so as to lead to empowerment. General Aggression Model (GAM) given by Anderson and Bushman (2002) is a dynamic, social, cognitive developmental model which draws heavily on social-cognitive and social learning theories. Aggression depends on how an individual perceives and interprets his/her environment and people there in, this model has been revised and a new model has been devised namely General Aggression Model in Education or GAME, which shows path towards empowerment from aggression.

According to the International Baccalaureate (IB), the more interwoven global society becomes, the more internationally minded we are all likely to be. International mindedness (IM), however, can pose a distinct challenge for educators in terms of both practicality and meaning. This chapter presents research into the articulation and implementation of IM in an IB school. Through a constructivist grounded theory methodology, the researcher presents analysis resulting in five categories: scepticism, connection, authentication, long-term thinking, and empathy (SCALE). As well as scaffolding a pathway toward a concrete IM, SCALE offers an innovative approach to interrelation and interculturalism in schools. The findings presented in this chapter will interest those seeking an active IM that has a tangible benefit for teachers and students alike.

ABSTRACT This article challenges the dominance of age homophily in the literature on friendship. Using findings from a recent study on intergenerational friendship, we put forward a new conceptualization of a homophily of doing-and-being in friendships between adults who are of different generations. This research took a qualitative approach using constructivist grounded theory methodology. Homophily of doing-and-being has three components: being “friends in action” (pursuing interests and leisure activities, or simply spending time together), being “not only old” (sharing identities beyond age), and sharing attitudes and approaches to friendship and life. Additionally, “differences” were an important element of interest between the intergenerational friends. Our discovery of the centrality of doing-and-being, and the relative insignificance of age homophily, constitute a novel way of looking at friendship, and a new way of conceptualizing how and why (older) adults make and maintain friendships.

Aims and methodTo establish an initial conceptualisation of how psychiatrists understand and use formulation within adult psychiatry practice. Twelve psychiatrists took part in semi-structured interviews. Transcripts were analysed using a constructivist grounded theory methodology.ResultsFormulation was conceptualised as an addition to diagnosis, triggered by risk, complexity and a need for an enhanced understanding. Participants valued collaborative formulation with psychologists. Multiple contextual factors were perceived to either facilitate or inhibit the process. Barriers to formulation led to a disjointed way of working.Clinical implicationsFindings contribute to an understanding of formulation within psychiatry training and practice.

Assuming the role of caregiver for a life partner after critical illness can be both a rewarding and challenging experience for spouses. Using a grounded theory approach, Ågård, Egerod, Tønnesen, and Lomborg developed a theoretical model describing the experience from spouse to caregiver and back. To further develop this theoretical model, a literature review was completed and nursing interventions were identified and included in the model. Testing of this theoretical model is recommended to determine its empirical adequacy.

Purpose This paper aims to report on a study that aimed at analyzing the relationships between information security and records management (RM), both as programs/functions established in organizations. Similar studies were not found in relevant literature. Design/methodology/approach The study used the classic grounded theory methodology. Pursuing the general curiosity about the information security-RM relationship in organizations, the study selected the United States (US) Federal Government as its field of entrance and followed the process of the classic grounded theory methodology that starts from the letting of the emergence of the research question to the formulation of a substantive theory that answered the question. Findings On the emergent question that why, despite the legislative establishment of agency RM programs and the use of the term records in their work, the US Federal Government information security community considered RM a candidate for deletion (CFD), the study coded the truncated application of the encompassing definition of records as the underlying reason. By this code, along with its three properties, i.e. limitations by the seemingly more encompassing coverage of information, insufficient legislative/regulatory support and the use of the terms of evidence and preservation in the records definition, the CFD consideration and the associated phenomena of unsound legislative/regulatory conceptualization, information shadow, information ignorance and archival shadow were explained. Research limitations/implications The study results suggested the data for subsequent theoretical sampling to be the operational situations of individual agency RM programs. Practical implications The rationale presented in the study regarding the encompassing nature of records and the comprehensive scope of RM program can be used for building strong RM business cases. Originality/value The study appears to be the first of its kind, which examined the RM–information security relationship in a very detailed setting.

This study aims to describe the form of Mancak Padang Dance Performance in Urak Balabek Ceremony at Pauh IX Village, Kuranji District, Padang City.This research belongs to a qualitative research using analytical descriptive method. The object of research was Mancak Padang Dance in Pauh IX Village, Kuranji District, West Sumatra Province. It is focused on the form of performance. The data were collected through literature review, observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted by using triangulation technique which compared the observation result data with the data from interview and documentation.The results of the study generally show that Mancak Padang Dance in Urak Balabek ceremony in Pauh IX Village, Kuranji District, is a village party in the context of adopting sasian to become aguru tuo and give the title. Urak Balabek ceremony is a procession of crowning someone to lift his sword. This ceremony must be attended by boys. It is to indicate that the boy is mature enough to carry on the inheritance from the previous to the present generation. This activity begins by slaughtering a buffalo. The role of women is also needed to prepare for the banquet. The first night is the government ceremonial opening andalek ceremony.Next, galanggang opening which is opened by the head of pandeka with mancak padang. It is continued by Mancak Padang dance by the kids. After that, the guru tuo perform Mancak Padang dance, and it is closedby guru  gadang. Mancak Padang dance movement originates from silat divided into three: kuda-kuda, balabekandgelek. Mancak Padang dance is accompanied by external music in the form of drums.Costumes wornare black silatclothes and a sarungin the waist. Mancak Padang dance in Urak Balabek Ceremony must be preserved from generation to generation. This is due to the fact thatthe dance is one of the traditional and cultural traditions as well as local wisdom owned by the community of Pauh IX Village, Kuranji District, West Sumatra Province.Keywords: Performances, Padang Mancak Dance, Balabek Urak Ceremony
