Background: Breast cancer patients need to be treated not only physically and emotionally but also spiritually. Hence, the assessment of the spirituality of patients is essential to provide holistic nursing care. However, there was no culturally valid and reliable instrument that measures spirituality among Filipino women with breast cancer. Objective: The study was conducted to determine the psychometric properties of the spiritual index of well-being among Filipino women with breast cancer. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was utilized in the study, and a sample of 170 Filipino women with breast cancer were included. The World Health Organization guidelines were used to translate the original instrument to Filipino, and content validity was computed using the Davis technique. Also, confirmatory factor analysis with maximum likelihood estimation was performed to assess the construct validity of the instrument. Cronbach’s α and item-total correlations were done to assess the internal consistency of the Filipino version of the spiritual index of well-being.Results: The Filipino version of the spiritual index of well-being had an item content validity index (I-CVI) ranging from 0.86 to 0.92 and a scale content validity index (S-CVI) of 0.95. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed factor loadings of 0.42 to 0.72. Also, the CFA model revealed a 𝜒2/df = 2.51, root mean square error of approximation= 0.074, comparative fit index= 0.091, goodness of fit index=0.98, Tucker-Lewis index= 0.93, incremental fit index= 0.91, and standard root mean square residual== 0.072.Conclusion: The Filipino version of the spiritual index of well-being was cross-culturally valid and reliable in measuring the spiritual index of well-being among Filipino women with breast cancer.

Purpose: Self-transcendence, the ability to expand personal boundaries in multiple ways, has been found to provide well-being. The purpose of this study was to examine the dimensionality of the Norwegian version of the Self-Transcendence Scale, which comprises 15 items. Background: Reed’s empirical nursing theory of self-transcendence provided the theoretical framework; self-transcendence includes an interpersonal, intrapersonal, transpersonal, and temporal dimension. Design: Cross-sectional data were obtained from a sample of 202 cognitively intact elderly patients in 44 Norwegian nursing homes. Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed two and four internally consistent dimensions of self-transcendence, explaining 35.3% (two factors) and 50.7% (four factors) of the variance, respectively. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the hypothesized two- and four-factor models fitted better than the one-factor model (c x2, root mean square error of approximation, standardized root mean square residual, normed fit index, nonnormed fit index, comparative fit index, goodness-of-fit index, and adjusted goodness-of-fit index). Conclusions: The findings indicate self-transcendence as a multifactorial construct; at present, we conclude that the two-factor model might be the most accurate and reasonable measure of self-transcendence. Implications: This research generates insights in the application of the widely used Self-Transcendence Scale by investigating its psychometric properties by applying a confirmatory factor analysis. It also generates new research-questions on the associations between self-transcendence and well-being.

Abstract Objective: This study aimed to carry out the validity and reliability study for the adaptation of the Competencies for Disaster Nursing Management Questionnaire (CDNMQ), which was developed by Al Thobaity and others in 2016, (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26778698/) to Turkish, and to be able to use in the nursing literature. Method: This study was conducted in a methodological approach. The scale used in this study was a 10-point Likert scale with 43 items and 3 subfactors. The questionnaire was applied to 450 nurses. The validity and reliability of the scale were evaluated using the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The content validity index was measured within the scope of the internal consistency measurements, and the Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient was examined for the test-retest. Results: The content validity index score was found to be 0.98. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis of the CDNMQ, it was found that the 3-factor structure of the scale was valid and the goodness of fit tests was appropriate. Conclusion: The findings have shown that the CDNMQ study is similar to the original scale and an adequate measurement tool in determining competencies in disaster nursing management.

The study was designed to estimate the psychometric properties of Hastings and Brown’s (2002a) Difficult Behavior Self-efficacy Scale. Participants were two samples of physical educators teaching in Korea (n = 229) and the United States (U.S.; n = 139). An initial translation of the questionnaire to Korean and pilot study were conducted along with the larger study using a confirmatory factor analysis procedure. Internal consistency estimates (weighed Omega) for the five-item scale were 0.88 both the Korean and U.S. samples. The average variances extracted for the one factor were 0.59 for the total data set and 0.57 each for the Korean and U.S. samples. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a five-item, unidimensional model for self-efficacy for the total sample: Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) = 0.97, Nonnormed Fit Index (NNFI) = 0.95, Comparative Fit Index (CFI) = 0.98, and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) = 0.03. Only the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA = 0.12) fell below criterion levels of acceptable fit, with similar fit indices occurring in separate analyses of the Korean and U.S. samples. Invariance testing across the two samples supported metric invariance (similarity of factor loadings) but not scalar invariance (U.S. means higher on all five items). The factor structure for the self-efficacy scale provides an initial estimate of validity and internal consistency for use with different teacher groups.

Objective:The study was carry out in order to evaluate the validity and reliability of Paternal-Antenatal Attachment Questionnaire. Method: Research was made with 155 expectant fathers who attended routine pregnancy controls with their partners in a obstetric and gynecology clinic in Izmir, were literate, aged 18 or older and without any health risk of fetus. Data were collected by  information form and Paternal-Antenatal Attachment Questionnaire by developed Condon in 1993. İnitially the language validity of the scale was made by using the translation-back translation method with five experts. The Turkish version of the scale was presented to the opinion of ten experts using Davis technique for the content validity and content validity index was calculated. Factor structure was tested.by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. In the confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modelling fit indices were examined. Findings: Content validity index of each item was determined to vary between .80–1.00. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, a two-factor structure explaining 36.54% of the total variance of the scale was determined. Factor loads vary between 0.41-0.84 in the one dimension and 0.30-0.82 in the another dimension. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that this two-factor structure was appropriate (RMSEA 0.044, GFI 0.912, AGFI 0.880 χ2/df ise 1.298(p=0.025).  The Cronbach’s alpha value of scale was 0.79. Conclusions: The two-factor structure of the scale, as “attachment quality” and “time spent of attachment mode” is valid and reliable for the use of expectant fathers’ Turkish society. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet Amaç: Araştırma “Paternal Antenatal Bağlanma Ölçeği”nin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini incelemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Abstract Objectives: To test the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of Miller Behavioral Style Scale(C-MBSS).Methods: The forward-back-translation procedure was adopted in the translation of the Miller Behavioral Style Scale. Content validity was assessed in a panel of experts. In a sample of 1343 individuals, reliability and construct validity were assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and factor analysis. For exploratory factor analysis, parallel analysis was used to decide number of factors, principal axis factoring and direct oblimin rotation method were used to select factor. For confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modelling was established to verify the extracted factor structure. Results: The C-MBSS achieved conceptual and semantic equivalence with the original scale. The item content validity index(I-CVI) of each item ranged from 0.78 to 1, and the averaging scale content validity index(S-CVI/ Ave) was 0.95. The cronbach`s alpha coefficient for the scale and sub-scales were over 0.6. The exploratory factor analysis resulted in 2-factor assumption for each hypothetical threat-evoking scenario. Confirmatory factor analysis provided confirmatory evidence for the second-order factor structure of 2-factor solution (Monitoring and Blunting) and demonstrated a good fit between theoretical model and data. Conclusions: This study verified the psychometric properties of the C-MBSS and indicated that the C-MBSS can be used to identify individual`s information-seeking style in Chinese population. With the use of the C-MBSS, health care professionals in China can deliver health education based on patients’ information-seeking behavior, which can improve the effect of health education and patients’ health outcomes.

AbstractThis research aims to get a proof of the validity career adapt-ability scale in the field of electrical construction. The samples in this research are electrical engineering education students, amounting to 146 students. The data analysis technique used in this research is second order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The compatibility of theoretical models with empirical data is determined with the coefficients of Chi-Square, p-value, CFI (Comparative Fit Index), and RMSEA (Root Mean Square Error of Approximation). The validity of each item in the career adapt-ability scale is determined with the value of factor loading, t value, and the significance level. Item is considered valid if the factor load is more than 0.3, the t-value is greater than 1.96, and the significance level is less than 5%. The validity of each factor of career adapt-ability is determined with CR (Construct Reliability) and average variance extracted (AVE). Based on the results of the analysis, it is found that the career adapt-ability instrument in the field of electricity consists of 20 items representing four factors, namely concern, control, curiosity, and confidence are categorized valid. Keywords: Construct Validity, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Career Adaptability. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh bukti validitas instrumen pengukur konstrak adaptabilitas karier bidang kelistrikan. AbstractObjectiveIn the emotionally intense field of healthcare, the ability to peacefully inhabit one's body, maintain good boundaries, and be fully present during care is essential. This study aimed to validate the recently developed Mindful Self-Care Scale (MSCS) among hospice and healthcare professionals and develop a brief version of the 33-item MSCS.MethodA sample of hospice and healthcare professionals from all 50 states (n = 858) was used. A confirmatory factor analysis was run using a rigorous methodology for validation and item reduction to develop a brief version of the 33-item MSCS. The brief MSCS (B-MSCS) was developed by identifying items for exclusion through examination of conceptual overlap, descriptive statistics by detecting sources of improvement model fit using confirmatory factor analysis. Model modifications were done sequentially and with regard to theoretical considerations.ResultThe existing model, 33-item MSCS with six subscales, had good fit to the data with all indicators in acceptable ranges (chi-square/df = 3.08, df (480), p < 0.01, root mean square error of approximation = 0.059, comparative fit index = 0.915, Tucker and Lewis's index of fit = 0.907). Nine items were excluded on the basis of very low loadings and conceptual and empirical overlap with other items.Significance of resultsThe final 24-item, B-MSCS model was consistent with the original conceptual model and had a closer fit to the data (chi-square/df = 1.85, df (215), p < 0.01, root mean square error of approximation = 0.041, comparative fit index = 0.961, Tucker and Lewis's index of fit = 0.955). In addition, the reliability, construct, and concurrent validity of the MSCS and B-MSCS were in the acceptable and good ranges, respectively. Mean and standard deviation of the MSCS and B-MSCS scores were similar; B-MSCS mean scores well approximated the MSCS scores. Informal mindful self-care, in the process of everyday life, was practiced more regularly and associated with increased wellness and reduced burnout risk than formal mind-body practices.
