The accelerating development of technology over the past decades has brought many radical changes in all aspects of life and has unquestionably affected the functioning of our society. The expansion of the digital space and the technological innovation in industry, commerce and household have given rise to a large number of new concepts relating to digital and information technology and their use. In the context of supporting these activities and needs, the FEP document has been updated for the educational area Information and Communication Technology in elementary schools but also in general and technical secondary schools. This innovation is built primarily on the development of computational thinking, which is based on two pillars—algorithmization/programming and educational robotics. The present paper uses educational research to analyse the area of educational robotics as one of the important tools for promoting the concept of developing computational thinking including a description of the specific tools for the implementation of this type of teaching. The aim of the research study was to analyse the current level of pupils’ awareness of and practical experience with educational robotics, both in school and in extracurricular activities. The research tool for data collection was an online questionnaire designed by the authors.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is today seen as a catalyst for change in the way work is carried out. Over the past decade there have been a number of studies examining both the decision-making behind ICT adoption (the driving forces for adoption) as well as the perceived benefits from that adoption. However, no studies have attempted to determine, or indeed map whether emphasis given to specific driving forces have manifested in differing perceptions of perceived benefits. The purpose of this chapter is to examine whether emphasis on particular driving forces for ICT adoption are associated with the perception of particular benefits. A study was undertaken amongst 198 Australian GPs. Results suggest that greater emphasis on improving communications gives rise to higher perceived benefits both in terms of communications and practice effectiveness, while emphasis on other drivers does not significantly alter the perception of benefits derived from adoption.

Green Computing has attracted concerns in the past few decades, with the sole concern for the procedures involve in the designing, manufacturing, usage and disposal of information and communication technology (ICT) basically for environmental sustainability. The importance of human factor in green computing has not received the deserved attention. The social, moral and ethical decadence resulting from the use of ICT has reduced the quality of human in modern time. This study advocates the importance of peopleware as essential aspect of green computing which equalling demands concern. Thus the adoption of peopleware in green computing practices will invariably improve sustainability of the physical and spiritual environment.

Although the macroeconomic effects of information and communication technology (ICT) has been a topic of many debates in the literature over the past 20 years, the effect of ICT on terrorism is still largely unexplored. Using the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) technique, this paper investigates the impact of ICT on terrorism on a panel of 49 African countries over the period 1998-2012. Two ICT indicators (Internet and Mobile) and four different but linked terrorism indicators (Domestic, transnational, unclear and total terrorisms) are used. The paper finds a significant positive effect of ICT on terrorism.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector caused schools and universities are closed. Then, teaching and learning are delivered by an online method through information and communication technology. Some issues have emerged, especially on delivering materials and the minimum requirements of online learning. The study aims to review learning methodologies and the role of information and communication technology for future learning. Heutagogy and Computational Thinking have been selected as the learning methodology for approaching digital native generation. It is no doubt that the significant role in undertaking online education is information and communication technology. Therefore, we suggested some tools to enhance learning systems, such as gamification learning, virtual labs, and social media. We also discussed new learning media using information and communication technology in education. The study's contribution is to describe technology's role in the future learning system to be used by decision-makers in implementing e-learning better.

The digital technology has permeated almost every aspect of life. Meanwhile, the responses from the field of language teaching in Indonesia to this new development have been scarce. The paper aims to provide an answer to the question whether language teachers perceive Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a threat or a helpful assistant. To achieve this, a survey was conducted to 110 English teachers in Java, Indonesia. Five closed-ended items and two open-ended items in an online questionnaire asked them several questions about what conditions they see as threats, how they perceive ICT, and what digital facilities they have been using in their work. The results show that most of them perceived ICT positively, seeing it as a beneficial rather than threatening force. To them, ICT has been an attractive source that provides learning resources, fosters communication and collaboration, and spices up teaching-learning activities. Those who expressed their worry over ICT mentioned the importance of teachers’ upgrading their ICT skills and called for institutional support for the teachers. Three models, TAM (Technological Acceptance Model), UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology), and TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) were then discussed to address the need for helping teachers adapt to the fast-changing digital technology.

The article examines one of the main directions of the implementation of a large-scale program of economic reforms in Saudi Arabia (Saudi Vision-2030), aimed at ridding the Kingdom’s economy of an alarming dependence on oil export revenues – the digital transformation of society, governing structures, and the economy as a whole. In the past few years, the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, which has become the largest in the Middle East, is increasingly visible not only in this region. Its development is particularly dynamic due to large investments in the latest technologies. The success of the ICT sector was also facilitated by the creation of new supervisory bodies and the improvement of the regulatory framework for various areas of digitalization. The country’s leadership aims to make Saudi Arabia one of the world’s leading countries in the field of ICT by building a digital economy based on the principles of the Fourth Industrial Revolutionanddigitalgovernanceofsociety. The five-year digital development strategy (2019–2023) provides for the growth of the ICT sector by 50% and an increase in the rate of “Saudization” of this sector to 50% by 2023. This strategy is expected to increase the contribution of the ICT sector to the economy by at least $13.3 billion. Assessing the prospects for the development of digitalization in Saudi Arabia, the author found four factors that make it possible to assess them as very favorable – sufficient funding, acceleration of the privatization process, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the inevitability of the diversification of the national economy, which is impossible without digitalization.

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become a major driver of changes in economic, social, public, and private life, leading to emergence of the information society and digital economy. Identification of key trends and analysis of transformation processes can only be made on the basis of reliable statistical data. Development of relevant international statistics plays a leading role here; hence, via establishing and updating relevant standards, it allows to measure development of the information society in a global scale, and benchmark positions of individual countries in the worldwide economic environment. ICT indicators are based on general (definitions and classifications, similar data collection methodologies) and specialized statistical standards, whereas harmonized methodology provides highly compatible indicators for different countries. The objective of this chapter is to present a systemic overview of internationally accepted definitions of main ICT indicators based on accumulated methodological standards and practical experience.
