Objective: to evaluate the association of the burnout syndrome with daytime sleepiness and sleep quality among technical-level Nursing students. Method: a cross-sectional, analytical and quantitative study, conducted with 213 students from four technical Nursing courses in a city of Paraná, Brazil. Data collection was carried out using an instrument containing characterization information, the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Results: the prevalence values of the burnout syndrome, excessive daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality were 4.7%, 34.7% and 58.7%, respectively. Excessive daytime sleepiness significantly increased the chances of high emotional exhaustion (ORadj: 5.714; p<0.001) and high depersonalization (ORadj: 4.259; p<0.001). Poor sleep quality, especially sleep disorders, was associated with all dimensions of the syndrome (p<0.05). Conclusion: high levels of the burnout syndrome dimensions were associated with excessive daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality. Educational institutions should include sleep hygiene and psychosocial support in their student health promotion programs.

Pendahuluan: Tidur merupakan suatu kebutuhan dasar yang harus dipenuhi. Kualitas tidur yang buruk salah satunya dapat disebabkan karena stres dan kondisi kelelahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat stres dan burnout syndrome terhadap kualitas tidur pada mahasiswa ners Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Airlangga.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa profesi ners Fakultas Keperawatan Unair program regular dan alih jenis. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 126 responden yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling  dan mahasiswa profesi ners Fakultas Keperawatan Unair dari program regular maupun alih jenis sebagai kriteria inklusi. Variabel independen yaitu tingkat stress dan burnout syndrome dan variabel dependen yaitu kualitas tidur. Data dikumpulkan dengan kuesioner Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Maslach Burnout Invetory (MBI), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) dan dianalisis menggunakan uji spearmen’s rho dan uji regresi logistik.Hasil: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa profesi ners Fakultas Keperawatan Unair program regular dan alih jenis. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 126 responden yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling  dan mahasiswa profesi ners Fakultas Keperawatan Unair dari program regular maupun alih jenis sebagai kriteria inklusi. Poor sleep quality can be caused by stress and fatigue. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and burnout syndrome with sleep quality on clinical nursing students of the Nursing Faculty at Universitas Airlangga.Method: This study uses a cross-sectional design. The population is clinical nursing student Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga from the regular program and over the program level. The total sample was 126 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. Independent variables are stress level and burnout syndrome and the dependent variable is sleep quality. Data collected by questionnaires Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and then analyzed using spearmen's rho test and logistic regression test.Results:  The results showed that there was a relationship between stress levels and sleep quality (p = 0,000, r = 0,311), there was a relationship between burnout syndrome specifically the dimensions of emotional exhaustion with sleep quality (p = 0,025) and the results of logistic regression tests showed a correlation between stress levels (p = 0,000) and burnout syndrome dimensions of emotional exhaustion (p = 0.025) with the quality of sleep in clinical nursing students of the Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga.Conclusion: The level of stress experienced by clinical nursing students, especially stress in caring for patients and burnout syndrome, especially in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion affect the quality of sleep for clinical nursing students.

Modelo do estudo: Estudo transversal, de caráter exploratório, descritivo e quantitativo. Objetivo: Avaliar qualidade de vida (QV), qualidade de sono e Síndrome de Burnout (SB) em residentes multiprofissionais, ao longo da Residência. Metodologia: Foram analisados 60 residentes multiprofissionais, dos quais 24 eram residentes ingressantes, cursando a primeira semana do programa (RIn), 18 estavam no final do primeiro ano (R1) e 18 no final do segundo ano (R2). Foi realizada a aplicação do WHOQOL-bref, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index e Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Resultados: A qualidade de sono diminuiu ao longo da residência e foi identificado menor comprometimento em todos os domínios da QV para RIn. Quanto às dimensões isoladas do MBI, R1 apresentou maior número de residentes com exaustão emocional (EE) alta e realização profissional (RP) baixa e R2 despersonaliza- ção (DE) alta. Dois indivíduos do R2 apresentaram a SB; R2 também se destacou no preenchimento de um critério. O R1 apresentou maior porcentagem de sujeitos em situação de risco. A maioria de RIn não obteve classificação significativa em nenhuma das dimensões. A média dos resultados da EE foi alta para R2, limítrofe para R1 e baixa para RIn. Conclusão: Os resultados indicaram que tanto a qualidade do sono quanto a qualidade de vida de residentes passam por repercussões negativas ao longo dos anos da residência e pode ocorrer o desenvolvimento da Síndrome de Burnout nestes profissionais

Aim: The objective was to analyze burnout syndrome, anxiety, depression and sleep quality in teaching and research staff in the university setting and its impact on temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), and to analyze the psycho-emotional variables that could explain the possibility of someone suffering from TMD. Methods: A transversal study was carried out with a sample consisting of 173 participants belonging to university teaching and research staff. The correlation between variables was performed using the Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Through a linear regression, an estimate of the degree of contribution was calculated that each independent variable (burnout syndrome, anxiety, depression and sleep quality) has on the dependent variable (TMD). Results: the scores are higher in the group non-tenured staff compared to tenured staff in relation to psycho-emotional variables and TMD and how psycho-emotional variables can influence the presence or absence of temporomandibular dysfunction based on job stability, this value being higher in the group of non-tenured staff (77.8%) compared to the tenured staff (44.2%). Conclusions: The non-tenured university teaching staff demonstrate higher levels of depression, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and poorer sleep quality. Furthermore, these variables show a higher incidence in the probability that university teaching and/or research personnel suffer from TMD.

Introduction: Sleep deprivation and burnout are common in employees who work in shifts, night shifts, overtime as well as those who work under stressful and unpredictable circumstances. The purpose of the study was to explore the quality of sleep, determine burnout level components and investigate the level of these components and their impact on the quality of sleep among employees in pre-hospital emergency medical services.Methods: A quantitative non-experimental research method was used. Data were collected using a standardized Pittsburgh sleep quality index questionnaire and a standardized Maslach burnout inventory questionnaire. The survey was completed by 204 healthcare professionals. Data were analyzed with univariate and bivariate statistics.Results: The average Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score was 4.97, s = 3.23. Poorer quality of sleep is exhibited by female respondents (57.4 %), respondents who are employed in more overloaded pre-hospital emergency service units (52.3 %) and those who work 24 hours or more (67.7 %). Overall, 17.6 % respondents exhibited high emotional exhaustion, 32.8 % exhibited high depersonalization and 9.3 % exhibited low personal accomplishment. A weak correlation was present between sleep quality and emotional exhaustion (r = 0.381, p < 0.01), depersonalization (r = 0.293, p < 0.01) and personal accomplishment (r = 0.368, p < 0.01).Discussion and conclusion: Healthcare professionals represent a vulnerable group that is subject to poor sleep quality and burnout syndrome, therefore, the need for empowering them in terms of proper sleep hygiene and burnout prevention is indicated.

Schlafqualität und deren Beziehung zu attentional-exekutiven Funktionsleistungen bei unipolar depressiven Patienten

Zusammenfassung. Die Beziehung zwischen kognitiven Defiziten und Schlafstörungen depressiver Patienten wurde bisher wenig untersucht. Stationär behandelte depressive Patienten beantworteten Fragebögen zur Depressivität und Schlafqualität (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory, PSQI), gefolgt von neuropsychologischen Untersuchungen zu attentional-exekutiven Funktionsleistungen (Trail Making Test: TMT-A, TMT-B) an Tag 1 (abends) und Tag 2 (morgens). Patienten mit schweren Schlafstörungen (PSQI > 10, n = 8) erbrachten gegenüber Patienten mit maximal moderat ausgeprägten Schlafstörungen (PSQI ≤ 10, n = 8) signifikant geringere Leistungen im Rahmen des TMT-A und TMT-B. Signifikante positive Korrelationen zwischen dem Globalwert des PSQI und der TMT-B-Bearbeitungszeit blieben auch unter statistischer Berücksichtigung von Kovariaten erhalten. Diese Ergebnisse unterstreichen die enge Beziehung zwischen kognitiven Dysfunktionen und Schlafstörungen bei depressiven Patienten. Mögliche therapeutische Implikationen werden diskutiert.
