A low-profile, compact and frequency-tunable antenna made on ferroelectric substrate is presented. It is designed as a planar dipole antenna with an IDC varactor integrated in the signal line. Antenna is fed through a coplanar waveguide matched to 50 Ω. The center frequency can be tuned from 6.895 GHz to 7.050 GHz. It exhibits elliptical polarization and omnidirectional radiation pattern.

This paper exhibits a high-gain, low-profile dipole antenna array (DAA) for 5G applications. The dipole element has a semi-triangular shape to realize a simple input impedance regime. To reduce the overall antenna size, a substrate integrated cavity (SIC) is adopted as a power splitter feeding network. The transition between the SIC and the antenna element is achieved by a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) to increase the degree of freedom of impedance matching. Epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) metamaterial technique is exploited for gain enhancement. The ENZ metamaterial unit cells of meander shape are placed in front of each dipole perpendicularly to guide the radiated power into the broadside direction. The prospective antenna has an overall size of 2.58 λg3 and operates from 28.5 GHz up to 30.5 GHz. The gain is improved by 5 dB compared to that of the antenna without ENZ unit cells, reaching 11 dBi at the center frequency of 29.5 GHz. Measured and simulated results show a reasonable agreement.

A novel millimeter wave coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed Fabry-Perot (F-P) antenna with high gain, broad bandwidth, and low profile is reported. The partially reflective surface (PRS) and the ground form the F-P resonator cavity, which is filled with the same dielectric substrate. A dual rhombic slot loop on the ground acts as the primary feeding antenna, which is fed by the CPW and has broad bandwidth. In order to improve the antenna gain, metal vias are inserted surrounding the F-P cavity. A CPW-to-microstrip transition is designed to measure the performances of the antenna and extend the applications. The measured impedance bandwidth ofS11less than −10 dB is from 34 to 37.7 GHz (10.5%), and the gain is 15.4 dBi at the center frequency of 35 GHz with a 3 dB gain bandwidth of 7.1%. This performance of the antenna shows a tradeoff among gain, bandwidth, and profile.

In this paper, a conductor backed coplanar waveguide (CB-CPW) 3rd order bandpass filter is designed using coupled open-ended stub resonator placed vertically to the signal line. Vertically loaded open ended stubs are designed at quarter wavelength so as to behave like a short circuit at the input terminal thus giving a band-accepted response with lesser metallic area or minimum size. Four such coupled open ended resonators are placed in series and also in closely manner to provide greater field confinement of the proposed bandpass filter. The bandpass filter is designed for a center frequency of 2.5 GHz with FBW of 97.89%, insertion loss of <0.5dB, rising and falling edge selectivity of 30.75 dB/GHz and 27.01dB/GHz respectively with a wide stopband of around 4GHz after the desired passband. Further to validate the design technique six such resonators are placed to obtain 5th order bandpass filter.

In this paper, a new design of high gain and wide bandwidth microstrip patch antenna array containing double meander dipole structure is proposed. Two in-phase resonant frequencies in the Ku-band (12–18 GHz) could be achieved in the double meander dipole array structure, which lead to enhance impedance bandwidth without costing extra design section. Besides, further enhanced gain of 2 dBi of the array over the entire operating frequency range has been achieved by introducing a double-layer substrate technique. The proposed antenna has been fabricated using the E33 model LPKF prototyping PCB machine. The measurement results have been performed, and they are in very good agreement with the simulation results. The measured –10 dB impedance bandwidth indicates that the array provides a very wide bandwidth which is around 30% at the center frequency of 15.5 GHz. A stable gain with a peak value of 10 dBi is achieved over the operating frequency range. The E- and H-plane radiation patterns are simulated, and a very low sidelobe level is predicted. The proposed antenna is simple and has relatively low-profile, and it could be a good candidate for millimeter wave communications.

A compact circularly polarized (CP) antenna is proposed for low-profile and wideband operation based on characteristic mode analysis (CMA). A ring patch with a gap and two arc-shaped metallic stubs as the radiator is analyzed and optimized by CMA to figure out the orthogonal modes and operating frequency band for potential good axial ratio (AR) performance. The studies of these CP modes provide a physical insight into the property of broadband circular polarization. Such an in-depth understanding paves the way for the proposal of novel CP antenna with separation between the design of radiator and feeding network. A 50-Ω coplanar waveguide (CPW) is introduced and placed appropriately to excite the desired modes based on the information from CMA, which employs two asymmetric ground planes to improve the performance in terms of AR and impedance matching. The antenna with a compact size of 0.71λ0 × 0.76λ0 × 0.038λ0 (λ0 is the free-space wavelength at the center frequency of the 3-dB AR bandwidth) is fabricated and measured for validation. The realized gain varies from 1.6 to 3.1 dBic over the operating bandwidth characterized by the measured 10-dB impedance bandwidth of 83.8% (3.98–9.72 GHz) and 3-dB AR bandwidth of 70.3% (4.59–9.57 GHz), respectively.

A compact artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) structure for the application of specific absorption rate (SAR) reduction is presented in this paper. A magneto-dielectric (MD) structure as a host of AMC substrate is used to miniaturize the AMC size. The magneto-dielectric has been designed with a low-profile spiral loop in a way to have a high permittivity and permeability for the desired center frequency of 3.5 GHz. Simulation results confirm the zero-degree reflection phase of the proposed AMC unit cell. Moreover, a 70% reduction has been achieved in comparison to the conventional AMC. To validate the simulation results, a prototype of the board is fabricated and measured with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) antenna for the reflection coefficient. The measurement results display an excellent agreement with the simulation ones. A VOXEL model of a human body is utilized to determine the SAR value of the proposed structure. Considering the maximum SAR value for an average of 10 g human tissue, more than 70% SAR reduction is verified for the CPW antenna with the recommended MD-AMC structure compared to a conventional single CPW antenna.

<p><em>Abstrak </em><strong> - Antena merupakan alat pemancar yang akrab dengan aktifitas sehari-hari dan mudah sekali dijumpai, di rumah, di gedung, bahkan pada alat komunikasi yang digunakan. Salah satu antena yang sering digunakan adalah antena televisi. Antena televisi yang sering digunakan adalah Yagi-Uda yang biasanya dipakai sebagai outdoor antena dan antena dipole yang biasanya digunakan untuk indoor antena. Masing – masing jenis antena memiliki kriteria dan keuntungan berdasarkan dari kebutuhan penggunaannya. Baik antena dipole maupun antena Yagi-Uda memiliki perbedaan diantaranya adalah besar bandwidth, nilai gain, dan pola radiasi. Pada paper ini dapat diketahui bahwa bandwidth yang dimiliki antena yagi-uda lebih besar daripada antena dipole yakni 0.39943 MHz untuk antena yagi-uda dan 0.16569 MHz untuk antena dipole. Begitupula dengan besar Gain yang dimiliki antena Yagi-Uda (6.64 dBi) lebih besar dibandingkan dengan gain dari antena dipole (2.29 dBi). Perbedaan ini dikarenakan faktor elemen director dan ketebalannya.</strong></p><p><strong><br /></strong></p><p><strong><em>Kata Kunci</em></strong> – <em>Atena Televisi, Atena Yagi-Uda, Atena Dipole, Gain, Bandwidth</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>Abstract</em> <strong>- Antenna is a transmitter tool that is familiar with daily activity and easy to find at home, in the building, even on the communication tool used. One of antenna that is often used is a television antenna. Television antennas are often used is Yagi-Uda which is usually used as an outdoor antenna and dipole antenna that is usually used for indoor antennas. Each type of antenna has the criteria and advantages based on the needs of its use. Both dipole antennas and Yagi-Uda antennas have differences among them are bandwidth, gain, and radiation pattern. In this paper it can be seen that the bandwidth of yagi-uda antenna is bigger than dipole antenna that is 0.39943 MHz for Yagi-Uda antenna and 0.16569 MHz for dipole antenna. Neither the large Gain of the Yagi-Uda antenna (6.64 dBi) is greater than the gain of the dipole antenna (2.29 dBi). In this paper, a low-profile HF (high-frequency) meandered dipole antenna with a ferrite-loaded artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is proposed. To operate in the HF band while retaining a compact size, ferrite with high permeability is applied to the unit cell of the AMC. The operating frequency bandwidth of the designed unit cell of the AMC is 1.89:1 (19–36 MHz). Thereafter, a meandered dipole antenna is designed by implementing a binary genetic algorithm and is combined with the AMC. The overall size of the designed antenna is 0.06×0.06×0.002 λ3 at the lowest operating frequency. The proposed dipole antenna with a ferrite-loaded AMC is fabricated and measured. The measured VSWR bandwidth (<3) covers 20–30 MHz on the HF band. To confirm the performance of the antenna, a reference monopole antenna which operates on the HF band was selected, and the measured receiving power is compared with the result of the proposed antenna with the AMC.
