Inspired by the UCC Campus engage initiative and in a quest to help final year pharmacy students develop higher-order thinking skills, students were tasked with designing and delivering outreach workshops on the “Role of the Pharmacist in Educating patients on microbes, antimicrobial usage, and infection prevention”. The assignment formed part of continuous assessment requirements for PF4015 Novel Drug Delivery module delivered to final year Pharmacy students on the B.Pharm course. These 1-hour interactive workshops were delivered to students across diverse age (primary and secondary) and socioeconomic backgrounds in schools during Science week in Nov 2016 & Nov 2017.

Modern educational pedagogies emphasize that teaching and learning frameworks should be designed to promote essential skills among students and develop their higher order thinking skills and the real-world application of those skills. In this milieu, service-learning is an emerging approach in education that best meets this need. Although much work exists on service-learning in developing students' social, moral, and citizenship potential, there is a lack of research that highlights the role of service-learning and its potential to promote high order thinking skills among pre-service teachers. This study attempts to extensively examine the role of service-learning in promoting high-order thinking skills among pre-service teachers. For this purpose, an integrated approach of Queensland University's higher order thinking guidelines was compared and contrasted as a framework with service-learning approach. The analysis and literature review showed that said the guidelines can be adopted using service-learning approach to promote higher order thinking skills of pre-service teachers. Therefore, the framework is proposed to be integrated into a service-learning course in higher education. The guidelines provide a five steps process for developing higher order thinking skills among teacher education students. The study results provide teacher educators with more practical ways to implement a more active and purposeful teaching and learning environment that encourages higher order thinking among pre-service teachers.

ABSTRACT The advent of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has the potential to disrupt the traditional audit model. With its capability to automate rules-based tasks that are repetitive and manual, RPA is expected to repurpose the role of the auditor by replacing perfunctory tasks and emphasizing higher order thinking skills that will eventually lead to enhanced audit quality. This editorial envisages the future of audit by introducing the concept of RPA and describing its usage in auditing. Moreover, considerations for RPA-based audits and a series of research questions are presented with the objective to create a dialogue in this evolutionary area.

This paper describes the strategies used in academic supervision in improving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) learning. This study uses the literature method because the data obtained comes from online and offline print media with content analysis techniques. In the application of HOTS learning, not all teachers are able to carry it out perfectly, for that, coaching and training are needed first. Questioning about the development of educators, of course, cannot be separated from the role of supervisors who have the role and function of fostering teachers and controlling the learning process of students. The things that are done in academic supervision in improving HOTS learning include (1) Creating harmonious relationships, (2) Needs analysis, (3) Developing strategies and media, (4) Teacher performance appraisal, (5) Follow-up, in terms of This will make changes and improvements based on what has been found in the previous assessment.

Cognitive thinking is discussed here in terms of processes involved in visual thought and visual problem solving. This chapter recapitulates basic information about human cognition, cognitive structures, and perceptual learning in relation to visual thought. It tells about some ideas in cognitive science, cognitive functions in specific parts of the brain, reviews ideas about thinking visually and verbally, critical versus creative thinking, components of creative performance, mental imagery, visual reasoning, and mental images. Imagery and memory, visual intelligence, visual intelligence tests, and multiple intelligences theory make further parts of the chapter. This is followed by some comments on cognitive development, higher order thinking skills, visual development of a child, the meaning of student art in the course of visual development, and the role of computer graphics in visual development.

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are very important skills to be taught to students in the 21st century. The role of teachers is very important in improving students' high-level skills. This study aims to determine whether or not prospective physics teachers have misconceptions in compiling HOTS cognitive questions. The emergence of miscon-ceptions shows that the ability of prospective physics teachers is still low in composing HOTS cognitive questions. The research subjects were all final semester prospective physics teachers who took the learning evaluation course at the Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang in the even semester of 2019/2020. The data collection technique is documentation. The data is taken from the final project document in the learning evaluation course, where prospective physics teachers are asked to make cognitive ques-tions from levels C1 to C6 and are asked to state their beliefs about the questions they have made. The data were analyzed in the descriptive qualitative way to determine the misconceptions of prospective physics teachers. The results showed that prospective physics teachers were not yet able to compile HOTS cognitive questions. Recommenda-tions for the preparation of HOTS questions are also given in this paper.
