The Manchester Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (DBQ) is widely used to measure driving styles and investigate the relationship between driving behaviour and accidents involvement. Recent evaluations of different population groups have taken place throughout the world, including countries in the Arabian Gulf. This study seeks to extend the application of the DBQ to Kuwait with its mix of native and expatriate drivers, by examining the relationships between speed-related behavior and accident involvement using a speed-related score (SRS). For this purpose, 536 respondents (425 Kuwaitis and 111 Non-Kuwaitis) were asked to complete a questionnaire based on the DBQ parameters as well as background information. The results showed that young Kuwaiti male drivers scored highest in most of the areas. Factor analysis resulted in four significant dimensions; speed-related violations, anger related violations, errors, and lapses. The study focused on the speed related violation score (SRS) as the dependent variable. The statistical analysis using ANOVA and t- test showed that there is a significant effect of such factors as accident involvement, age, gender, nationality, education level, driving experience and marital status. Some countermeasures to reduce accidents were identified focusing on those groups with higher SRS values.

A key component in combating traffic accidents is to study the contributory factors behind them, among these factors, the driver behavior stands out as the main causative factor. One of the most effective tools used worldwide in measuring self-reported driving components is the Manchester Driver Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ), it investigates the relationship between the driver and accidents involvement, throughout the analysis of both sociodemographic characteristics of drivers, and the risky driving components practiced such as; violations, errors and lapses. The present study investigates the factor structure of the DBQ and examines the relationships between the driver behavior factors and accident involvement. A survey questionnaire including the DBQ and background information was filled by a randomly selected sample of drivers in Amman, the capital of Jordan and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software was used for data analysis. Driver behavior differed according to the gender, educational level and driving experience of the respondents. The results reflected the lifestyle, way of thinking and the general attitude of the driver and its relationship with traffic safety.

The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between sociodemographiccharacteristics and elementary school students’ (grades 5 – 8) estimates of theimportance of particular secondary needs. The sample comprised 196 participants. The starting premise was the concept of “Four wishes” for defining the situation byW. I. Thomas (1863 – 1947). The research instrument used in this research was aspecifically designed questionnaire founded on the four wishes by Thomas: the wishfor security, wish for response, wish for recognition and wish for new experience. The Mann-Whitney U test, factor analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, linearregression analysis, Kruskal Wallis test and correlation analysis were applied. The research results show statistically significant differences in the estimate ofimportance of particular needs with respect to gender, i.e. participants’ age. Acorrelation was established between expressing the importance of the need forsecurity with respect to age, and a positive correlation between recognition andparticipants’ age. Furthermore, a correlation was found between age and expressingthe need for new experience among participants. The research established thatfemale participants have a significantly greater need for recognition.Key words: education for free time: educational approach to free time; students’ needs

Today, the majority of research has focused on legitimacy, while much less attention has been given to the sources of trust in the police (Nix et al., 2014). Limited attention has been also paid to the examination of legitimacy of the police services as viewed by those they serve (Bottoms & Tankebe, 2013), especially by the young people. Hence, the current study aims to add to this body of research in three ways. First, it examines the factors that influence peoples' beliefs about the police and their intentions to cooperate or exhibit confidence. Second, this study constitutes one of the first empirical analyses that highlight the importance of examining the relationship between police authority and legitimacy in Brazil. Aiming to understand the dynamics among those notions in relation to trust and obedience, the empirical part of the present study is conducted in the district of Jardim Ângela (Sao Paolo); once considered as the most violent urban region in the world. The final contribution lies in its focus on early adolescence as the particular age forms a crucial period in peoples' legal socialization (Dirikx & Van den Bulck, 2014). The statistical analysis shows significant relationships between the frequency of obedience in laws and trust in the police, and dimensions of perceived legitimacy.

Leadership style is not a novel concept and has been discussed widely all over the world. With the acceleration of globalization, organizations have to adapt to new paradigms or approaches of leadership. Therefore, it is important to understand leadership preference among individuals to ensure their willingness to perform their job. Specifically, this study was conducted to identify the relationship between gender, age, education level and working experience and leadership preference. This study intends to understand the leadership preference among Sabah communities which involve three major ethnic groups in Sabah namely Malay-Brunei, Bajau and Kadazan-Dusun. The sample of this research was selected based on purposive convenient sampling whereby all respondents are located in Kota Kinabalu. A questionnaire was administered for data collection with a sample of two hundred and nineteen employees from both the public and the private sectors. The data was analyzed using one way ANOVA and the results showed that the three major ethnic groups in Sabah appear to have similar leadership preference. In addition, no significant difference was found between leadership preferences and the demographic variables.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to derive the relationship between color schemes and emotion to serve for designers and consumers.Design/methodology/approachThe three attributes of hue, brightness and saturation of the selected sample color are analyzed, and the Semantic Differential (SD) method is used for the emotional evaluation of color schemes, and data obtained from the emotional evaluation of color schemes is analyzed by using Excel software for mean statistics and SPSS software for factor analysis and cluster analysis.FindingsFrom the results of the factor analysis, three main factors that affect the feeling of the color scheme can be extracted: “personality”, “gender” and “fashion”. Color emotions can be achieved by changing the level of color saturation and brightness, the cold and warmth of the hue and the way of color combination.Research limitations/implicationsSince it takes a long time to fill out the questionnaire, the number of valid questionnaires collected is a little less and the research data is limited. In addition, some problems are not taken into account such as geography and so on, so the results of the statistical analysis are not very precise and further research is needed.Practical implicationsIt can provide information of emotional color schemes for designers and consumers, and based on the SD method, an emotional color matching questionnaire is designed and statistical analysis is conducted to establish the relationship between emotion and color schemes.Originality/valueBased on the fashion color sample and color harmony theory, the color matching rules and color matching schemes are designed independently.
