Object recognition in 3D scenes is one of the fundamental tasks in computer vision. It is used frequently in robotics or augmented reality applications [1]. In our work we intend to apply 3D shape recognition to create a Tangible Augmented Reality system that is able to pair virtual and real objects in natural indoors scenes. In this paper we present a method for arranging virtual objects in a real-world scene based on primitive shape graphs. For our scheme, we propose a graph node embedding algorithm for graphs with vectorial nodes and edges, and genetic operators designed to improve the quality of the global setup of virtual objects. We show that our methods improve the quality of the arrangement significantly.

Human-computer interaction (HCI) has developed rapidly in recent years, and more and more researchers are interested in applying HCI techniques into education. Compared with traditional approaches in the real world, gesture recognition is considered as a reasonable alternative since it is vivid and flexible. However, most of educational equipment nowadays achieves the function of augmented reality, without any interaction. This paper implemented a prototype, not only based on augmented reality system, but also especially we think about the interactive design. Accessibility is achieved by mobile devices and the dynamic switch of gesture recognition. By this interactive method, children are able to interact with the virtual objects easily and naturally. Consequently, children can have a profound and deep understanding of what they learn, and the quality of education will be improved.

ResumoNo presente artigo apresentamos a experiência realizada com o uso dos softwares de realidade aumentada (RA) e a realidade virtual (RV) em cenários para o Ensino das Ciências objetivando atender a Era da Educação 4 por meio de manipulação de objetos virtuais.Com aplicações distintas, as duas tecnologias são complementares e se configuram como ferramentas adicionais aos docentes com a proposta de elevar a qualidade das aulas e a geração de uma aprendizagem significativa representando uma ponte entre a educação e a tecnologia. Como objetos virtuais de aprendizagem (OVA), deverão ser usados em sala de aula como forma de enriquecimento das experiências práticas por meio da representação virtual de temas e contextos tornando mais ativa, contextualizada e efetiva o processo de apreensão do mundo. Palavras-chave: realidade virtual, realidade aumentada, ensino das ciências, tecnologias educacionais. Abstract In the present article we present the experience with the use of software of augmented reality (RA) and virtual reality (VR) in scenarios for the Teaching of Sciences in order to attend the Age 4 of Education through manipulation of virtual objects, the two technologies are complementary and are configured as additional tools for teachers with the proposal of raising the quality of lessons and generating meaningful learning as a bridge between education and technology. As virtuais learning objects, they should be used in the classroom as a way to enrich practical experiences through virtual representation of themes and contexts, making the process of apprehension of the world more active, contextualized and effective. The concept of Augmented Reality (AR) displays is defined, in relation to the amount of real (unmodelled) and virtual (modelled) data presented in an image, as those displays in which real images, such as video, are enhanced with computer generated graphics. For the important class of stereoscopic AR displays, several factors may cause potential perceptual ambiguities, however, which manifest themselves in terms of decreased accuracy and precision whenever virtual objects must be aligned with real ones. A review is given of research conducted to assess both the magnitude of these perceptual effects and the effectiveness of a computer assisted Virtual Tape Measure (VTM), which has been developed for performing quantitative 3D measurements on real-world stereo images.

Augmented reality is defined as the technology in which virtual objects are blended with the real world and also interact with each other. Although augmented reality applications are used in many areas, the most important of these areas is the field of education. AR technology allows the combination of real objects and virtual information in order to increase students’ interaction with physical environments and facilitate their learning. Developing technology enables students to learn complex topics in a fun and easy way through virtual reality devices. Students interact with objects in the virtual environment and can learn more about it. For example; by organizing digital tours to a museum or zoo in a completely different country, lessons can be taught in the company of a teacher as if they were there at that moment. In the light of all these, this study is a compilation study. In this context, augmented reality technologies were introduced and attention was drawn to their use in different fields of education with their examples. As a suggestion at the end of the study, it was emphasized that the prepared sections should be carefully read by the educators and put into practice in their lessons. In addition it was also pointed out that it should be preferred in order to communicate effectively with students by interacting in real time, especially during the pandemic process.

Augmented reality (AR) is the integration of digital information with the user’s environment in real time. AR software use in many different ways and for the needs of cartography too. This technology may be useful for the development of navigational mobile applications and actions with static (paper) maps. There are two main operating modalities for implementation of augmented reality in applications: by markers and by the positioning of customer and surrounding objects (by azimuths determination between customer’s device and real objects). The first way is applied for static maps when another way is applied for navigational mobile applications. Augmented reality provides at least six opportunities, which create better options for working with design and content of maps for cartographers. This technology also provides the new experience in the work on maps for customers. The advantages of using augmented reality in cartography are the partial equation of static maps to geographical information systems, adaptability of cartographic images to the needs of users, improving the quality of design and content possibilities of maps and making actions with maps more attractive for customers. However, this technology is not without disadvantages, which connected with the development of AR-applications and requirements to smartphones. In addition, this article reveals aspects of the creation of augmented maps in cartographic companies.

Technology in the multimedia field that is currently developing is Augmented Reality (AR). Utilization of Augmented Reality as a medium for children's education provides a new perspective on the existing educational media, not only using real objects but also using virtual objects in the delivery of information. AR is a technology that combines three-dimensional virtual objects into a real three-dimensional environment and displays them in real time. AR can make delivery easier and make information more interesting especially for children. AR is expected to be able to support as one of the media for school-age children in an effort to realize health promotion. This research method uses a literature review that focuses on the use of Augmented Reality as a medium for health education for school-age children. The literature used is in the form of articles originating from national and international journals. The application of AR as an educational medium can increase children's knowledge. In Indonesia the use of AR media has not been implemented much less especially in nursing. The need for the development of this AR media in the world of nursing.

In recent years, Augmented Reality has become a very popular topic, both as a research and commercial field. This trend has originated with the use of mobile devices as computational core and display. The appearance of virtual objects and their interaction with the real world is a key element in the success of an Augmented Reality software. A common issue in this type of software is the visual inconsistency between the virtual and real objects due to wrong illumination. Although illumination is a common research topic in Computer Graphics, few studies have been made about real time estimation of illumination direction. In this work we present a low-cost approach to detect the direction of the environment illumination, allowing the illumination of virtual objects according to the real light of the ambient, improving the integration of the scene. Our solution is open-source, based on Arduino hardware and the presented system was developed on Android.

Color schemes play a crucial role in blending virtual objects with the real environment. Good color schemes improve user’s perception, which is of crucial importance for augmented reality. In this paper, we propose a set of novel methods based on the color harmonization methodology to recolor augmented reality content according to the real background. Three different strategies are proposed—harmonic, disharmonic, and balance—that allow for satisfying different needs in different settings depending on the application field. The first approach aims to harmonize the colors of virtual objects to make them consistent with the colors of the real background and reach a more pleasing effect to a human eye. The second approach, instead, can be adopted to generate a set of disharmonious colors with respect to real ones to be associated with the augmented virtual content to improve its distinctiveness from the real background. The third approach balances these goals by achieving a compromise between harmony and good visibility among virtual and real objects. Furthermore, the proposed re-coloring method is applied to three different case studies by adopting the three strategies to meet three different objectives, which are specific for each case study. Several parameters are calculated for each test, such as the covered area, the color distribution, and the set of generated colors. Results confirm the great potential of the proposed approaches to improve the AR visualization in different scenarios.
