- This paper presents the main findings of a research that Cermes - Bocconi has carried out on behalf of some industrial firms (Barilla, Campari, Coca-Cola, Ferrero, Kraft, Parmareggio) and with the contribution of some commercial firms (AgorÀ- Poli, Auchan, Carrefour, COOP Estense, GS, SELEX, SIGMA, SMA). The main goal of the research was to discover the importance of assortment policies in industrial and retail marketing. First, we verify the hypothesis that explain the continued increase in assortment dimension with the dependence of retail marketing upon manufacture's contribution leading to a pour service to consumers. Then we verify that the convergence of assortment is the main cause of hypermarket crisis as well as a great contributor to the reduction of store loyalty. AbstractEmpirical and theoretical insights from the rich body of research on ‘integration’ in migration studies have led to increasing recognition of its complexity. Among European scholars, however, there remains no consensus on how integration should be defined nor what the processes entail. Integration has, moreover, been the subject of powerful academic critiques, some decrying any further use of the concept. In this paper we argue that it is both necessary and possible to address each of the five core critiques on which recent criticism has focused: normativity; negative objectification of migrants as ‘other’; outdated imaginary of society; methodological nationalism; and a narrow focus on migrants in the factors shaping integration processes. We provide a definition of integration, and a revised heuristic model of integration processes and the ‘effectors’ that have been shown to shape them, as a contribution to a constructive debate on the ways in which these challenges for empirical research can be overcome.

This chapter explores the relevance of facts and empirical enquiry for the normative project of enquiring what principles of distributive justice, if any, apply at the global level. Is empirical research needed for this kind of enquiry? And if so, how? Claims about global distributive justice often rest on factual assumptions. Seven different ways in which facts about national, regional and global politics (and hence empirical research into global politics) might inform accounts of global distributive justice are examined. A deep understanding of the nature of global politics and the world economy (and thus empirical research on it) is needed: to grasp the implications of principles of global distributive justice; to evaluate such principles for their attainability and political feasibility; to assess their desirability; and, first, to conceptualize the subject-matter of global distributive justice and to formulate the questions that accounts of global distributive justice need to answer.

Pasal 9 huruf c Undang-Undang Nomor 21 Tahun 2011 tentang Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (selanjutnya disebut UU OJK) menyatakan bahwa untuk melaksanakan tugas pengawasan OJK, mempunyai wewenang melakukan pengawasan, pemeriksaan, penyidikan, perlindungan konsumen, dan tindakan lain terhadap lembaga jasa keuangan, pelaku, dan/atau penunjang kegiatan jasa keuangan, sebagaimana dimaksud dalam peraturan perundang-undangan di sektor jasa keuangan. Pasal 28 huruf a UU OJK menyatakan bahwa untuk perlindungan konsumen dan masyarakat, OJK berwenang melakukan tindakan pencegahan kerugian konsumen dan masyarakat, salah satunya memberikan informasi dan edukasi kepada masyarakat atas karakteristik sektor jasa keuangan, layanan, dan produknya. Namun pada kenyataannya, pelaksanaan edukasi yang dilakukan oleh pihak perbankan tersebut tentu saja berada di bawah pengawasan OJK, sehingga secara tidak langsung OJK pun bertanggung jawab terhadap risiko penggunaan produk e-banking yang dapat merugikan konsumen. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian yuridis empiris yaitu jenis penelitian yang meneliti dan menelaah efektivitas suatu peraturan perundang-undangan. Hasil penelitian menujukkan Tanggung Jawab OJK terhadap konsumen yang mengalami kerugian akibat penggunaan layanan e-banking  adalah melakukan pendampingan bagi konsumen dan sebagai fasilitator dalam rangka melakukan gugatan ganti kerugian terhadap bank dengan jalan Eksternal Dispute Resolution, baik melalui litigasi maupun non litigasi.The Government Regulation No. 21 of 2011 Article 9 (c) regarding the Financial Services Authority (hereinafter referred to as UU OJK) states that in order to carry out the supervision other task to the financial services instituition the subject and/or the supporting financial services activities, as referred to the regulation about financial services activity. Article 28 (a) of UU OJK also states that in protection of consumers and people, OJK authorized to act in preventing costumer and people loss by providing information as well as education for the people regarding the characteristic of the financial services sector, the services and the products. In fact, however, the execution of the educating process done by the bank is under the supervision of OJK so OJK is indirectly responsible for the risk of e-banking products usage that harm consumers. This type of research used in this research is juridical empirical research that examines the types of research and study the effectiveness of laws. The result of the result indicated that the responsibility of OJK to the consumer who suffered losses by the e-banking service is by providing assistance and act as a facilitator in pursuing a lawsuit to get compensation from the bank by external dispute resolution, both by litigation and non-litigation.

The article presents the results of theoretical and empirical research of the problem of psychological aspects of ensuring the efficiency of professional activity of a Project Engineers in the context of the theory of general and special abilities, the need to take into account the general and individual-typological in the mental development of the subject of labor. The importance of considering professional skills in connection with the intellectual readiness of the subject to the activity and individual style of its implementation is theoretically substantiated. The empirical study revealed the presence of correlations between the efficiency of professional activity, psychological readiness and individual style of activity. The most referent in the description of the professional skills of project engineers are the time of labor tasks performance and individual style of activity, and the organizing factor in the unity of these indicators is the generalization of mental activity, which forms the core of intellectual readiness for work. Correlation analysis of the data allowed us to identify the presence of clear links between: 1) the efficiency of activity by time indicator and ISA: the more ISA corresponds to the reference method, the less time is spent on solving the labor task, and vice versa; 2) between ISA and intellectual readiness for activity; the higher the level of complexity of labor tasks, the higher the level of correlation between these phenomena.

While the role of citizens in smart cities is hotly debated, there is a dearth of empirical research on the subject. This in-depth study of a European city, selected for its typical smart city ambitions, explores the roles that citizens actually play in smart city projects. The study examines twelve initiatives in the City of Utrecht (NL) using a framework that differentiates between types of citizen participation. The findings show that technology-enabled citizen participation in Utrecht is highly diverse and embraces all types of participation rather than simply taking the form of either “citizen empowerment” (as the advocates argue) or “citizen subjugation' (as the critics stress). The diversity found in the study highlights the need to conceptualize the role of the smart citizen at the micro (project) level rather than at the level of the city as a whole. The study shows that citizen participation in the smart city should not be understood as a technological utopia or dystopia but as an evolving, technologically mediated practice that is shaped by a variety of factors.

Summary The article is an attempt at identifying processes carried out in various types of multiple economic entities. It presents a collection of processes which includes basic, supporting and management ones, and which shows the very essence and classification of these. The notion of redesigning organisation from a functional to process-based one has also been stressed. The final part of the study presents the location at which processes are carried out in various types of multiple economic entities. The article is of theoretical nature and its content is the subject of empirical research which aims at identifying the collection of processes carried out in such big and complex economic entities.

This paper is part of a broader empirical research study about Brazilian industrial firms with innovative characteristics. The study involved more than 70 enterprises in the sample. Its aim was to provide inferences on the relationships between the management of sources of technological information and the innovation performance of the firms studied. In this paper, an analysis compares larger and smaller enterprise and identifies what the differences are between them. The analysis of the data suggests there are associations between many of the indicators of the management of sources of technological information, and the indicators of innovation performance studied. Approximately 100 significant relationships were found and many of them differ between larger and smaller enterprises.

Trainings as well as their impact on employability and employees’ performance have been the subject of interest of theoreticians and practitioners of management for a long time. However, according to the literature study, the outcomes of employees’ trainings also depend on the applied style of leadership as well as on the quality of relationships between supervisors and subordinates. This paper tries to answer the question: what are the relationships between transformational leadership, the quality of supervisors’ relationships with subordinates, employees’ trainings and employability, employees’ quality and effort of work in public organizations? Purpose. Analysis of the image of "martial arts and fighting sports" tourism in mass media which was created on the basis of selected materials and means of communication used for their presentation. Indication of discourses related to participants` travels in order to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on martial arts and fighting sports (with indication of exposed and potentially marginalised content) on the example of the Fight Quest TV show. Methods. Qualitative analysis of the mass media content of thirteen episodes. The subject of this analysis was audiovisual materials considered in terms of selected content constituting elements of compositional modality (including production, existence and potential reception). The coding of responses (possibly in the most relevant categories) and the presentation of the results were carried out using the Atlas.ti computer programme. Findings. The use of specialist discourse on the subject of martial arts and fighting sports by the creators of the show. The positive attitude of the main characters to learning martial arts and fighting sports as one of the forms of cultural tourism. The marginal occurrence of the subject of practicing sightseeing and religious tourism by the participants. Research and conclusions limitations. Empirical research concerns only one television programme and does not take other types of media productions with similar themes into account. Practical implications. The results of the research may be useful both in terms of analysis of various types of tourism and media discourses about "martial arts and fighting sports" tourism. Originality. Analysis of the subject of "martial arts and fighting sports" tourism in a small number of scientific studies. Type of paper. An article presenting the results of empirical research.

Phyllis Moen and Elaine Wethington were absolutely right when they called family strategies “the intuitively appealing metaphor for family response to structural barriers”. This appeal probably explains the avalanche of studies on the subject since the 1970s and especially since the 1980s. The last contribution, to my knowledge, is a collection of articles edited by Laurence Fontaine and Jurgen Schlumbohm in 2000. I will not even try to outline the vast historiography. This paper focuses on another problem. It is an attempt to show that concepts built on appealing metaphors lose much of their appeal in empirical research for the simple reason that their application tends to be more complicated than expected. In the following pages an example of such an experience is presented. Within the virtual walls of the Dutch National Research Institute for Economic and Social History, the N.W. Posthumus Institute, we have been struggling with family strategies since 1994. Now that we are about to publish the third volume on the subject, it is time to evaluate what we have accomplished.
