Specific features of management of financial stability and methods of its evaluation are considered. The analysis of economic standards of the banking system of Ukraine is carried out. A significant role of the banking system in ensuring the functioning of the entire economy, by means of organizing the movement of borrowed capital between individual industries and the implementation of financial needs is achieved only if this system, and therefore its constituent elements, are stable. In this regard, the stability of the banking system should be considered as a fundamental internal characteristic, which ensures the existence and stable development of the Bank in a market economy under the influence of external and internal factors. In 2020, commercial banks were faced with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Russian economy and the banking system in particular. At the same time, the current situation of banks ' functioning is characterized not only by the presence of a corona crisis, but also by the internal development of the system itself, which, following the uberization of the world economy, dictates to commercial banks the need to develop and implement financial technologies and form ecosystems. In these conditions, the need for commercial banks in financial resources increases, which is reflected in the increasing role of profit in the Bank's activities and development. This article focuses on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the banking system of the Russian Federation and the economy as a whole, and also identifies the features of profit formation and the specifics of the functioning of commercial banks in the coronavirus crisis period.

The article explores the problems of ensuring the financial sustainability of the banking sector, which plays a very important role in the functioning of the financial system of the state. The role of the stability of the banking system in ensuring conditions of economic growth is justified. It is noted that it is the financial stability of each banking institution that is a prerequisite for the stable functioning of the entire banking system. It is emphasized that since the financial stability of the banking system is influenced by a large number of internal and external factors, for the effective functioning of the banking system of the country must be ready for any challenges to the macro and microenvironment. The main problems of the banking system in modern conditions should be considered the reduction of deposits of the population, deterioration of the quality of the loan portfolio, significant devaluation of the hryvnia, high inflation rates, loss-making of a significant number of banking institutions. It was concluded that the banking system of Ukraine feels a significant dependence on the funds of depositors - individuals, and therefore on factors that affect their behavior in the financial market. Trends of formation of deposit base of commercial banks of Ukraine and imbalances in the sphere of attraction of banking resources were analyzed. The growth of bank deposits of the population is slow, negative changes in their structure are observed. The share of deposits of individuals after the 2014 crisis has become significantly more volatile and risky in terms of financial stability. The increase in lending is complicated by the presence of large portfolios of problem loans, as a result of which there are a number of tasks to increase the efficiency of the loan portfolio, which should ensure a compromise of profitability, liquidity and credit risk acceptable to the bank. The priorities of monetary policy and the main tasks are formulated, the solution of which will allow to intensify lending to the real sector of the economy. Theoretical and practical recommendations have been developed to improve bank lending, increase the profitability of the banking system and capitalize Ukrainian banks.

Ensuring and strengthening the financial sustainability of banks is a difficult and not completely resolved task. It is inherent not only to developed countries, it has also be¬come nationally important in Ukraine, which was largely predetermined by the specifics of the domestic banks development. This is explained, in particular, by the banking insti¬tutions’ focus mainly on the relatively short-term activity, the need to work under high risk, resulting from economic and political instability in the country. Therefore, nowa¬days, it is urgent for each Ukrainian bank to focus on the main strategic objective – effec¬tive management and ensuring financial sustainability. The purpose of this study is to assess the current state and identify the features of ensuring financial sustainability of the banking system of Ukraine. It was pointed out in the study that the negative tendency to increase the number of in¬solvent commercial banks during 2012–2017 indicates problems with providing finan¬cial sustainability to commercial banks. The tendencies have been revealed that testify to the problems of the banking system capitalization in Ukraine, which greatly affects its financial stability. Given the analysis of indicators of banks financial sustainability that characterize the bank capital adequacy, the conclusion is made on ambiguous as¬sessment of sufficient level of capitalization, since despite the correspondence of most values of coefficients to the indicators, there is a lack of capitalization of the domestic banking system and equity capital concentration. In general, the results made it pos¬sible to identify trends in the development of capital ratios and financial sustainability indicators and to shape appropriate measures to increase the level of capitalization in order to ensure the financial sustainability of the banking system.

The calculations suggest that PrivatBank can cooperate with the leading insurance companies, such as AXA Insurance and Providna recommended as new partners. It is established that bancassurance technologies have a significant place at the current stage of development of the domestic financial market. Using a large customer base and a wide network of branches and outlets, banking experts expect that revenues from the sale of insurance products in 2021 may amount to 15% of total bank revenues, as the volume of bank insurance in JSC CB PrivatBank is growing quite rapidly. The activity of banks in market conditions is subject to its general laws, and therefore requires the development of a viable mechanism for managing financial activities, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of banks. Thus, the ability of bank managers to determine the degree of financial stability of their bank as well as that of the competing banks and counterparties is essential in making decisions. Therefore, the search for ways to optimize the financial condition of the bank is one of the principles of further rapid development of the banking system in Ukraine.

The effectiveness of the functioning of the banking system of any state is determined by the sufficiency of the resource base, mainly formed from deposit sources. The purpose of the article is to assess the state and development trends of the deposit base of state commercial banks of Ukraine, which are the four largest banking institutions in terms of assets and liabilities. The concept of a deposit was highlighted and three basic approaches to the interpretation of this definition were identified. The assessment of the deposit activities of state-owned banks in terms of volume and structure during 2017-2019 was carried out. The results of the analysis show a positive trend towards an increase in the value of deposit resources of all state-owned banks, except for JSC “Ukreximbank”. For the stability of the resource base of commercial banks, the dominance of the share of term deposit funds over demand deposits is necessary. During 2017-2019 such dominance took place in JSC “State Savings Bank of Ukraine” and JSC “Ukreximbank”. The problems of balancing the structure of deposit resources by the terms of attraction were found in JSC CB “Privatbank” and JSC “Ukrgasbank”. As is known a qualitative assessment of the stability of deposit operations is possible only when analyzing a set of relative analytical coefficients. So, the article presents the main indicators that can be used to analyze the effectiveness of the use of attracted resources by banking institutions. Based on the analysis of indicators for assessing term and current deposits, the features of the functioning of the market for deposits of state-owned banks during 2019 were characterized. It was determined that the positive dynamics in the organization of the deposit activities of Ukrainian state banks is the result of an effective deposit policy. Even with low deposit rates, the volume of the deposit portfolio has increased in recent years, which indicates a gradual restoration of the confidence of depositors in the domestic banking system.

The banking sector in Kosovo continues to have a high level of sustainability and financial stability. Two substantial components for the stability of the banking system appear to be liquidity and liquidity risk. The purpose of this paper is to analyze liquidity management in Kosovo's commercial banks through liquidity risk indicators from 2008 to 2017. By comparing the methodology of the data presented, the study will assess the state of management of the liquidity risk of commercial banks. From 2008 until now, commercial banks in Kosovo have had liquidity reserves at a level higher than the level required by CBK, which means that exposure to liquidity risk was minimal.
